I selected this restaurant from tripadvisor rating as I was staying in oxford with absolutely no local restaurant knowledge. First impressions were fantastic. Great greeting and rapidly shown to a nicely located table. Menu is good, especially the specials board. However, service from then on was slow and lacked attention. The staff were very nice however so it didnât impact the meal significantly. One other thing....hot meals served on cold plates is not good. As the title of this review says, good location and ambiance let down a little by attention to detail. This restaurant should be a âvery goodâ or better.

The Ground Floor is a Modern British Brasserie. The First Floor is a Champagne, Oyster & Cocktail Bar. Bar dining, full A La Carte Menu available. Daily specials board with oysters, lobster and market fish of the day.
The fish was delicious, the staff fantastic and it was immaculately clean. We loved it and hope to return when we next visit Oxford. Most definitely worth a visit as it ticked every box 10/10. Thank you for a great night.

Michelin-starred, nostalgic British dishes with a modern twist. Inspired creations of Executive Chef Paul Welburn, whose food has the critics talking. Paul is renowned for adding a modern twist to some of Britainâs favourite dishes. The Oxford Kitchen of
We had dinner at the Oxford Kitchen on yesterday evening. We had the Chef's tasting menu. We found the restaurant to be friendly, welcoming and unpretentious.... despite it being a 1 Star Michelin establishment. The food was inspiring and well presented. We enjoyed most of the dishes. We would definitely come back again. Well done

Booked here on a Friday night on a weekend stay in Oxford - having googled best restaurants etc, it didnât disappoint. Chick peas, cauli, jambon iberico, crispy lamb and onion tortilla - all superb, flavourful and interesting. We finished with a custard tart and sorbet. The staff are fantastic - attentive and knowledgeable. The food is brilliant. The place is small and very buzzy - well worth a visit.

I was recommended this restaurant by a college, I was looking for a romantic, fancy place to go for a dinner date with my boyfriend. It was certainly a lovely evening: the staff were friendly and accommodating, there is an excellent choice of food and vegan menu. The food was delicious and very good value for money. Pricey wine but the bubbles were very much enjoyed! My only criticism would be that the restaurant lacked character inside (no candles or pretty things around to make it more romantic). But otherwise would recommend this gem of a restaurant.

Oxford's Grill Restaurant reflects the abundance and fertility of the Mediterranean region in its character and has thoroughly acquired its outstanding flavours. It is a stylish brasserie restaurant providing comfortable dining in authentic and intimate s
My husband and I were in Oxford and wanted some nice food. We came across the Oxford Grill - what a beautiful hidden gem this place is. The food was fabulous. We had the set menu (there were loads of choices). However we were also given some very tasty humous and bread before our ordered food arrived - it was just lovely. The waiter was a smashing bloke with a great sense of humour and so was another chap dining in the restaurant who we got chatting to who we think was a regular. If you don't go to this restaurant it will be your loss. Thanks for a lovely meal x

I sat in my little mobility scooter near the front door. Sadly they donât have a toilet, though they offered to help to use Cafe Rougeâs loo.I enjoyed escargot followed by duck with cherry sauce. White burgundy to drink followed by Cote de Rhôneâs. A pleasure to be there.

Since my last visit the food has maintained its high standard, but the cocktails, always good, now seem to be even better. If the special "Blackjack" cocktail - basically Jack Daniels, blackberries and Crème de mure - is on I recommend it.Maybe I've just become more enthusiastic about cocktails! Whatever, this was a very pleasant evening in what has become my go-to place when visiting Oxford. The food was seriously good (I had Devil's Toast, Pork Shank and Slovak Fruit Dumpling) and the "lightness" of the Knedla continues to impress.

We are a cafe pub restaurant on the sunny Abingdon Road here in Oxford. We serve fresh, seasonal food with a menu that changes every five to six weeks. We have eleven lines of craft beers and an evolving wine list to compliment our a la carte and Sunday M
Lovely boutique Gastropub slightly out of Oxford centre, near the Redbridge park and ride. The unassuming location hides a nicely designed, spacious but cosy interior full of pastel colours and nice touches. The menu changes seasonally and offers good food for vegans, vegetarians, pescatorians and carnivores. Starters are simple but tasty, a number featuring breads cooked on premises. Mains varied from hake with Asian-style lentils to a seeded cake or homemade burgers. All were piping hot, colourful and tasty. My hake could not have been cooked better, although like several dishes slightly more protein and slightly fewer carbs could have improved the dish. Save room for pudding and one of the choc pots or velvety posset. The wine list is short but affordable and there are some really excellent beers to choose from. Friendly and unfussy service. There is no parking, so investigating the park and ride might be an idea.

Although we live within walking distance of this restaurant it took a recommendation from friends visiting Oxford to prompt us to try it. We went with two neighbours. It is well named. The seating is basic and you get the feeling that you have been invited into someoneâs kitchen. This being so, the service, though not slick, is friendly and at a pace that you might expect in someoneâs home. But to the key point which is the food. There is an extensive menu and without exception everything we tried was delicious. If older, you should be aware that the portions are huge. We were told after the meal that the childrenâs small portions menu is available for all. Also try two starters or sharing plates where two portions can be shared between three or four. The restaurant is also willing to reduce portion size at the time of ordering. That said they do have younger customers who not only wolf down every bit of the delicious meal but ask for more!Although I have enjoyed nice wines in Poland, the national drinks are beer and vodka. The Polish kitchen has a broad range of both. As they are unable to source good Polish wine in the UK, they have house wines from elsewhere. We tried the white which was a decent Rioja. The bill at £78 for four was a very pleasant surprise.I have one gripe. The Polish Kitchen offers a discount in return for a good Trip Advisor review. This is unnecessary. My advice to them is to have faith in their offering. I cannot imagine any honest review being bad.We shall definitely return. They may or may not consider this review âgoodâ. However rest assured my integrity as a Trip Advisor reviewer will not allow me to accept any reward. In summary however if you are in south Oxford this restaurant is a must.
