A modern Bar & Brasserie in Hitchin, SG4 is the pride of Needham House Hotel. The British & European menu is filled with contemporary dishes, and the dining room's open kitchen allows for views of the chefs in action. With it's informal seating and large
I visited with my family yesterday after being reassured by the good reviews. The menu on Sunday consisted of a beef Sunday lunch, fish, a vegetable Wellington and one other thing I can't recall. We are vegetarians albeit my son is Vegan so when I called, I asked if the restaurant would cater well to us and was told they would. What a disappointment as we paid £100 for just the remaining vegetables on a Sunday lunch plate and to my shock, no gravy at all was provided. So my vegan son had a tiny plate of veg and we had the addition of a Yorkshire pudding. The only vegan pudding was sorbet which my son declined as they only had one flavour so he went home hungry.. not once were we asked if our meals were ok. I had to ask for some sort of gravy and was the only one to accept a tiny boat (I mean tiny) of meat gravy. My pudding was quite nice (bread and butter pudding, albeit it was the size of a brownie and I was still starving). Sorry but £100 which no offer to reduce the cost for the exclusion of meat on the Sunday lunch option was appalling. Had I known that the veg Wellington was a replacement for the veg only Sunday lunch option, (this was the same meal but with a meat replacement) I would've taken it as it could've certainly been more filling. I asked for some sort of nut cutlet and was greeted with a blank stare.. So my husband opted for this and luckily at least had more to eat although, again no vegetarian gravy offered so was very dry. What a bad choice this restaurant was and how behind this restaurant is for vegetarian and vegans.. are we that unusual? SG4 do you really think £100 was value for money for three small bowels of veg on top of a parsnip and 3 potatoes for four people? Sorry but never again.

After visited this Restaurant some years ago and having commented then about its excellence, I am delighted to report that it has improved if possible even further! The midweek Table d'Hote lunch (2 courses at £12.95) has a carefully selected choice of main dishes involving Venison, Veal and Hake, all presented with interesting sauces. A good selection of fresh English vegetables accompanies the main dishes. The service was excellent too! Well done!.

Inspired by French cuisine and Parisienne bistro style. Cafe Rouge is your local bistro to enjoy delicious food and gorgeous glass of wine.
Food was great, Camebert for starters was perfectly melted. Sirloin steak was just melt in the mouth.Along with great food I have taken time to write this due to the excellent service from our waitress. I didnt take down her name but we were sat down just after 12 on the table for 2 by the blossom tree. She was friendly, attentive and efficient. We often frequent the MK Cafe rouge but the food and staff in Hitchin far surpasses MK. Well done team!

'2016 Best Restaurant Outside London' category winner. Providing finest Turkish food in Hertfordshire.
Visited with Dad tonight. Was made welcome and was looked after with attentive service throughout. The hummus with lamb was an interesting and tasty take on an old favourite.I would highly recommend the Steak Diane. Nice big steak, and an excellent sauce with a great depth of flavour to it..Dad had an impressive chicken dish with a cheese, asparagus, capers and herbs in a white wine sauce.Limoncello ice cream and caramelized figs stuffed with walnut finished off the meal.Would highly recommend and look forward to going back.

Another excellent dinner at BSB: competent cooking, friendly service and relaxing ambiance: what's not to like? Whilst not fine dining, this might well be the best restaurant in Hitchin. The menu is fairly traditional with some seasonality. A limited wine list complements the menu.

It was our first time in the area, and we happened upon this lovely little Turkish restaurant! Hoping to be seated on a busy evening, we were delighted to find that the more than accommodating staff were able to seat us immediately. We had a succulent Turkish meal with great service all of which garnished with an even greater smile.Delicious food! Beautiful atmosphere! The young man that served us was clearly very attentive and knew the ins and outs of his job, to the point I assumed he must've been sourced from upscale restaurants in the city, a fact actually confirmed by himself and other staff members. Not only is this a lovely addition to a lovely town, that clearly gives the town itself a certain character it deserves, but It was also a great dining experience, and an affordable one at that.On a side note, amazed to see how the staff manage in such a busy environment with so few. This place obviously prides itself on only employing the best and most fitted for their restaurant which of course proves that quality over quantity is better. And it certainly is in this case!Loved every second. Will definitely be coming back for more!!!

It was my my partnerâs birthday, for which we enjoyed excellent service of fantastic food and wines, all in a buzzy atmosphere and gorgeous setting. Particular highlights for us were the Pornstar Martini, the Tempura Feta starter, the Pan Roasted Seabass and the Malbec Gala 1 Magnum, Luigi Bosca...though not necessarily together!Thank you for your very kind review, we are delighted you enjoyed a fantastic all round Farmhouse at Redcoats experience.

Staff are friendly. I had the tiger prawns and steamed salmon, both were good. However, the portions were enormous, biggest I've ever seen in my life. Also, it seems that you have to have 2 or 3 courses where 1 course would have been fine

We specialize in charcoal grilled food that is healthy and simple. Our dishes have various influences from across the Mediterranean, from the olive groves of Greece to the tapas bars of Spain, a resulting in an exciting and distinctive blend of flavours.
This was a first visit and canât say we will be rushing back. The service is fine, but the food wasnât really up to much. The tapas dishes arrived within minutes of ordering so obviously preprepared and microwaved as needed. Wouldnât have been so bad if it was evenly heated - chorizo was burning hot and therefore hard as it was over cooked, albondigas were barely warm. Taste of all the dishes was okay but portions are small - not an issue if they are top quality, but these arenât. The main course we had was ok and freshly cooked, but you donât get a lot for your money - a £14 chicken dish is just a plate of chicken with some tomato and lettuce (although it was advertised as coming with mushrooms and peppers). The issue with mixing tapas and big plates is that those eating tapas had finished eating before those with main courses got their food. There are better places to go in Hitchin, and Iâm guessing the high rating comes from big groups who are looking for atmosphere and value rather than quality.

Lovely place to eat tapas. We had the £10 light lunch which included a small starter salad, choice of 2 skewers, including prawns, and a potato choice. A drink was also included. The server was polite and attentive. Definitely a great place to entertain.
