Dodds was recommended by our accommodation and did not disappoint. We were made very welcome and the staff were attentive and helpful. There is plenty of choice on the menu - I thoroughly enjoyed the grilled goats cheese (I had never imagined what a delight goats cheese can be when paired with caramelised pear) and home made potato gnocchi (which our waiter advised was his favourite and it quickly became mine too!). My husband thoroughly enjoyed his garlic bread and pizza - which was spicy and well flavoured. Unfortunately we were so full that we didn't have space for a pudding - perhaps next time!

Visited with my wife for my birthday and left totally stuffed!! Had the devilled chicken livers starter which was more like a main meal, and so tasty!! My wife enjoyed her starter of mussels, again, it was huge. I really enjoyed my lamb shank main, it just fell off the bone, and my wife loved her venison. That came with a smoky mash which was unbelievable!!! No room for puddinhs I'm afraid, totally stuffed!! Make sure you're hungry when you visit!! Staff are very friendly and chatty....what a find this place was!!!?

We were staying for 5 nights in Grasmere but unfortunately our Hotel had closed down it's Restaurant and didn't tell us beforehand so we were lucky to get anywhere at such short notice, and grateful to be fitted in. We ate here on 2 evenings and each time enjoyed great food & equally great service. The Bistro itself is very small but this made the dining experience much more cosy & personal. We are pleased we found this little gem in Grasmere and will definitely return when we're back in the area.

Varied veggie menu, good quality and reasonably priced. Can combine with a visit to the delightful little cinema upstairs. Busy throughout the year.

Iâm afraid I donât understand how there are so many 5 star reviews for this place. The staff were lovely but the food was average at best. Pasta was way overcooked and the sauce very basic, cheap chorizo cut too thickly, not enough seasoning - just no finesse at all. My children had pizzas which were ok but not great. All in all we couldnât fault the staff but our meal was pretty âmehâ and not cheap, so the bill was a stinger.

My wife and I had dinner here tonight after another restaurant messed up our booking. The whole experience was great. The staff were excellent, friendly and polite. The menu was very appealing, as was the wine list. We opted for the pigeon and Brie starters; both were well prepared, presented and were delicious. The same can be said for the mains - I went for the venison and my wife had belly pork. Excellent sharing dessert to finish. We enjoyed every bit. This will be our first port of call next time we are in Grasmere!

Lewis's is an unpretentious and rather bare space but a table near the window provides a pleasant view out onto the fields towards Helm Crag. Service is good and the cooking is reliable with copious portions. A straightforward menu with many of the familiar dishes that you see around the gastro-pub/bistro circuit. Nice wine list at reasonable prices. A very safe bet for an evening meal.

Loved loved loved the decor in each room (in fact am taking little notes on the decor in each room as inspiration for my next house), we were an hour early and the wait staff was exceptional in making us comfortable and rested with an early dinner drinks. The Restuarant itself is contemporary yet with warm natural wood accents with a view through the glass balcony doors to the garden. We had the tasting menu and it was extraordinary, loved the flavors and beautiful plating for each.

Being let down by the neighbouring hotel (sadly closing down their restaurant before we arrived) we were so happy to secure 3 evening meals in this beautiful hotel. We were treated to a plethora of the most amazing food, the fresh scallops were particularly scrumptious, completely off the scale! Thanks to Nicki, Bex, and especially Charlotte, we were made to feel very welcome and at home, nothing was too much trouble, and they even sang to me & produced a cake on my Birthday..it was wonderful! I can't think of a better place to eat, it's great value for money and the quality of food & service is second to none. To make it perfect, next year I hope we'll be able to stay in the Grasmere Hotel too and enjoy the complete experience! Five*
