We came across this lovely cafe by chance on the A49 at Prees Green, it is in the encore an attractive brick building, there is a small outside seating area ideal in nice weather, inside is one long room with lots of tables, the cafe is bigger than it looks from outside. It is run by a very nice couple and the food is excellent, they have a good menu reasonably priced, everything is freshly cooked, and they make all their cakes and deserts themselves. They also do outside catering, special cakes which looked delicious, and there is a small craft/gift section. Prices are low to mid range depending on what you order. If you are in the area this is definitely worth a stopover, plenty of parking.
Good quality English food. All day Breakfasts, a selection of main meals e.g. Steak & Ale Pie, Breaded Haddock, Lasagne. Daily Specials. Snacks, including Jacket spuds, Burgers, Hotdogs. A selection of delicious cakes & pastries. Tea, Coffee, Latte, Cappu
Walked into this cafe and there was a sense of dej-vu which the propietor confirmed for me. In my youth, I travelled home from Cheltenham to Liverpool by coach. This was the half way stop and there are photos from those days on the wall. The food is honest and basic and resonably priced. It is all cooked fresh to order. I had a huge veggie breakfast and Lynne has Staffordshire oatcakes. Very friendly staff and very good service.
A good choice of sweets and treats but seating isn't the best and a bit pricey for what you get abd service not the best IMO

Whixall Marina is situated on the Prees Branch of the Llangollen Canal and is something of a beauty spot hidden in the rural depths of North Shropshire. It even has its own village green which the owners say will be the perfect place to enjoy a take-away
Brilliant idea, the 2 grandchildren loved it. Really well organised and the kids demolished there breakfasts, which were age related and were perfect for a 2 and 6 year old. They also loved their presents. Very good value and the adults breakfasts were spot on.

I have called in here a couple of times for a drink, never for food.I'm not a fan of the cups used to serve coffee, cappuccino served in a large mug...would prefer a cup and saucer.Staff have never been overly friendly, no please or thank you, hello or goodbye.

Absolutely beautiful little cafe up the high St. We called in on Mother's day for coffee and delicious home made gluten free brownies. The best I've tasted.

My family and I decided to spend a lovely day in Whitchurch and chose to eat here due to the vegetarian options. I had my 4 month old son in his buggy and from the minute we walked in, we were made to feel quite in the way and unwelcome. A lady who worked there said "I don't know where we're going to put that buggy" in what I felt was in quite an abrupt tone. An elderly lady came in just after us with a walking frame and she also got a rude reception and she told us it had made her flustered! Other comments were also passed when ourselves and the elderly lady were served drinks. If the cafe does not welcome buggies and walking frames then please put a sign on the door!

I eat a lot of breakfasts on my travels. Some good and some poor. The location of the Lockside Cafe is fantastic and I was looking forward to a drink and breakfast. I am sorry to report but I was very disappointed with the breakfast. The beans were nearly warm and the bacon slightly under-cooked. The tea was stewed. Not what I expected and hopefully the cafe can use this feedback and not make the same mistakes!

Having done some research, we were looking forward to having lunch here on what was our first visit to Whitchurch. Unfortunately when we arrived there were no tables free. We had a wander round for a few minutes & returned to find all tables were still occupied so we opted to grab some sandwiches. We werenât given the option of bread type & had to ask for baguettes. The sandwiches were then made to order from the various refrigerated containers. The sandwiches were ok but nothing special. Not sure if weâd bother again as there were plenty of other cafes to try.
