Reviews on Cafe food in Tenterden, England, United Kingdom. Tenterden is a town with a large conservation area in the Ashford District of Kent, England. It stands on the edge of the remnant forest The Weald, overlooking the valley of the River Rother. It was a member of the Cinque Ports Confederation. Its riverside today is not navigable to large vessels and its status as a wool manufacturing centre has been lost. Tenterden has several voluntary organisations, some of which are listed below, seven large or very old public houses within its area and has long distance walking and cycling routes within its boundaries.

A welcoming, comfortable and cosy coffee shop just off of the High Street. Formerly known as Indulgence but now under new management and known as Susie's Kitchen. We have 26 seats inside with 2 picture windows and seating outside, weather permitting. Offe
Went in for breakfast today after a long journey home...wasn't many people in there...25 minute wait for 2 cooked breakfasts...wish we hadn't bothered...when it arrived although hot....lots if excess grease on plate....the young girl who served us was polite...the owner....well...she was very loud and her voice just went through you...all we heard was the fact that her day had started badly and it was one of those days...she continued to tell several tables this...very repetitive...yes it is tucked away in a nice little spot...but it was a let down...sorry but wont be going there again..

We visited here on Saturday and met a friend for lunch. The Bakehouse was very busy and the staff were very friendly. The service was very good and the food was delicious. The prices were very reasonable. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Situated just out the town centre, small cafe with outside seating. Couple jars of tea & breakfast sandwiches went down a treat. Decent sausage unlike some of the cheap rubbish you get in some cafes. Plenty of breakfast options & home of 'The Terminator' breakfast with a hall of fame on the wall.

Again, I will reiterate - the best cream tea I have ever had, especially in value! Baked potato great value also! See the picture of the cream tea and judge for yourself. Staff are friendly and quick, great location for people watching as well.

Small tea room serving light breakfasts and lunches. Specialising in afternoon tea, with homemade scones and cakes.
The Tiny Teapot is indeed very small, but cosy. We can only confirm the positive experiences of other reviewers and visitors. Very friendly staff and the food and service was excellent. We had a (huge) Afternoon Tea. Sandwiches, scones and cake all freshly homemade. Accompagnied by a (very) large pot of tea. We certainly will come back to enjoy more. So we can only recommend the Tiny Teapot in the beautiful village of Biddenden!

French delicatessen and bistro in Tenterden High Street - A taste of France in the Jewel of the Weald. Selling French cheeses, cold meat, patés, wines, &c.
We visited in May. It was just an okay experience. Very tiny inside - only three tables of seating - the other half of the restaurant was a sofa and perhaps a couple of easy chairs. This would not be recommended as wheelchair accessible because of the size of the restaurant. The decor was very tired and forlorn - I'm not sure they'll be in business much longer as there were no other guests but us and we were there 45 minutes to an hour. And Tenterden was bustling that day so it wasn't because of a lack of potential customers.I had the cheese croissant which amounted to a croissant with a small bit of cheese melted on top. It was very dry - the scant amount of cheese was hard from being overcooked. I had to take a drink every time I ate a bit of the croissant in order to wash it down. The others in our party seemed okay with their small meals though I don't think anyone raved about it. My particular problem besides the very tired and somewhat grungy decor (they cook upstairs and the stairs are carpeted and appear very dirty) as well as the very dry croissant (I thought because this was French that the croissant would be especially memorable but it was very forgettable - I've purchased better in a grocery store) was the hovering owner of the restaurant. Because it is so tiny in the restaurant he was seldom further away than six feet. It felt very encroaching. At one point he sat himself at one of the tables right near us.It was just a very weird experience. I would not choose to visit again, even if they manage to stay open.

Excellent coffee and wonderful croissants. I particularly recommend the apricot croissant which was delicious. There was also a great selections of salads and Italian pastries for another time. The cafe had a good atmosphere and charming and attentive staff. It is just off the main street and should not be missed. Hi Rose marieThank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. I will be sure to pass your appreciation to our staff. Ana

Peggotty's Tea Shoppe is a family owned and run Tea Room and the oldest tea room in Tenterden which dates back to 1645. Serving fresh homemade food daily. Enjoy our soups, sandwiches, scones or cakes in the tea room itself or in the summer our wonderful c
I went in today with my daughter and her best friend, having been swimming. We just wanted a nice, simple lunch that didn't come with 15 different side options, drizzled in extraneous dressings, served on a coal scuttle or some other tosh. The food was excellent, the sandwiches well filled, and a lovely piece of coffee & walnut cake. My daughter was particularly taken with her hot chocolate. AND IT WAS ALL SERVED ON PROPER PLATES !!! The service is charming and friendly plus, being a pastry chef, I thoroughly enjoyed looking through the baking books they had on display. Clearly this place attracts many regulars as while we were eating our lunch there seemed to be several people that were well known to the owner. In a world full of tedious, hipster places trying too hard or identikit restaurants all with the same menu it's not easy to find a good, classic tea room. Thankyou very much and next time I hope to see more of the lovely garden that the deluge prevented us from enjoying.Fiona, Kitty & AnnabelThank you so much for your kind review. We're glad you enjoyed your visit and hopefully next time you can sit in the garden.

Called in for a drink on a sunny afternoon. We sat outside (so that we could have our dog with us) and, although there were a few bees around, they were not that much of a problem. The service was quick and efficient and, although we were only having a drink, the serving staff were solicitous to an extrteme asking us if we were satisfied with our order. The cakes on display looked delicious and the food being served also looked very tasty and well-presented. Will be back to sample the food.
