How can you have a decent breakfast or bacon roll without Hp sauce the food we had was very basic low standard of no substance and to top it off a horrible brown liquid in a bottle for sauce which is a shame the place looks decent and service was good but it's all about the taste and it wasn't good
Visited Gravesend to see Pocahontas statue and the Sikh temple so passed the Dovay cafe when walking back to the car. Went in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. A comprehensive menu and efficient staff. Lunch was delicious and very inexpensive. A great place highly recommended.

I work the other side of town but I tend to find myself trundling to this amazing cafe quite frequently. Gorgeous jacket potatoes, a huge choice of fillings and lovely, friendly staff. I'm gluten intolerant so haven't ever had the sandwiches but they look delicious too.

In an age when it seems that England is being buried by food from other nations, this is a real gem â a small café in a side street offering an appetising choice of traditional English all-day Breakfasts and Lunches. From a wide range of menu items, all food is prepared and freshly cooked on the premises: substantial portions of extremely tasty products offer excellent value for money and are served by friendly, welcoming and efficient staff. The café (including washrooms) is very clean and exudes a warm and pleasant ambiance. Testimony is shown by its regular clientele and through those frequent periods when all tables are occupied. Closed on Sunday, it is open between 0730 and 1430 on all other days. It is rare to find such establishments now: long may this one continue.

We have lunched in Marieâs Tea Room several times this year, and have enjoyed the food and service, hence our repeated visits. However, sadly we both noticed a decline in standards when lunching this week. As ever, I ordered the indulgent breakfast, my wife a panini. Plus the usual pot of tea for two. The tea room is quaint, but little things like still displaying posters relating to activities that date back to May must be taken down, not left on display indefinitely. Back to the meal. My breakfast should have included mushrooms. When it arrived, no mushrooms and a cursory mention when the meal was delivered to my table that I had been given an extra piece of bacon. This should have been made clear before the order was prepared, not when the food was on our table. I would have chosen the basic breakfast had I known. The bacon was uninspiring and the sausages showed evidence of having been re-heated, which I find unacceptable. Sausages have always been OK on previous occasions. My wifeâs panini was average, only that. No salad dressing made the fairly sparse salad dry. The pot of tea is made with tea leaves. Great! But not enough of them. Even with vigorous stirring and waiting for several minutes before pouring, the tea was weak. Very weak. Oh, and the young guy who seems to have some management responsibility. He has been amiable with us on previous visits but this time was noticeably distant even though he would know us on sight. So, not a good experience. Such a shame as we support local businesses when we can. But we just donât feel inspired to return, for risk of another disappointing experience. Marieâs never seems busy, so work at it to keep standards high and retain customers, or the inevitable may happen. Finally, those infernal machines you use to pay by card. When the option comes up before paying to add a tip, by pressing yes or no, then adding what you feel the experience was worth. I hate those, particularly when on this occasion the waitress taking our payment was looking at what I would do. Well, like an idiot, I pressed yes and added a £2 tip. Why? I felt under pressure to. I left feeling upset at having done this on this occasion given the experience we had. Oh dear.

Nice clean place, comprehensive varied menu to suit all. The Lasagna was a little dry but tasty nonetheless. Plenty of seating with nice views out over st Georgeâs church. Nothing spectacular but good value for money and the staff were very pleasant. We would go back again as we have no complaints here.

I took my daughter out for lunch here and it was busy but we were so happy to get a table. What a friendly, comfortable little place. We both ordered a quiche and salad. We chose a different one each and shared them. They were delicious and the side salad was generous and contained a nice variety of ingredients. We were then tempted by the Pecan and Salted caramel cake which again we shared. Amazing! Will definitely return and hope we can get a table!
