Find out what British restaurants to try in Torquay. Mild ocean breezes, sandy beaches and swaying Torbay Palms give the small English town of Torquay a distinctively Mediterranean feel. More than just a beach spot, Torquay boasts an enormous coastal aviary and the famous Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves. Agatha Christie spent most of her life here, and the city is now home to multiple film companies. With such a rich literary history, Torquay may be the perfect place to finish writing that novel or screenplay, or just to relax with a good mystery.

The Driftwood cafe and bistro is unlike any other on Fore Street. We place great value on quality, presentation and difference. Our food and produce are fresh and locally sourced wherever possible, and everything is prepared and cooked in our kitchen. Wit
Absolutely amazing little cafe. Down to the nice quaint seating area and from the very pleasant staff to the lovely cooked food. First ever visit for us and I'm very pleased to say we will definitely be returning. For us it's the best place to have breakfast In the area. We've visited most of the cafe In the area and this one is top notch. The food portion was huge and the pot of tea was just how we like it. Well done to all involved in this little gem.Definitely would recommend coming here.

We visited with a party of 8 people. Despite them being busy, they managed to accommodate us and put some tables together for us. Despite a vegetarian and a vegan in the group, there was something tasty for them both to enjoy as well and the fish and chips with chip shop curry sauce and mushy peas, which I had were delicious. Not greasy like you find in most chippies!! Plus, it's unlimited chips!! If I come back to Torquay, I'll definitely be back to Saltwater Fish Restaurant!!

Went mid week for a birthday meal. Great welcome, orders taken and drinks served within minutes of arrival. Our Host/owner was 1st class and our starters arrived promptly. Delicious food well presented. Then onto the mains , the steak was superbly cooked and tender, my burger was exquisite, the best Iâve had in the bay. Cocktails and drinks were to point and a lovely relaxing atmosphere made for a great experience. Thank you to the owner and the chef for making the night a great one. Highly recommended

Hidden in a little corner of Torquay town centre is this beauty of a cafe. With a small selection of breakfasts, it suited both my husband (traditional cooked breky) and myself (Smashed Avo, egg on sourbread). Suberbly clean, a lovely welcome from the owner and great homemade cakes. I highly recommend this cafe for families of all ages. A few games help keep my children entertained while our food was cooked. As a visitor to the area, I'm so glad we followed the trip advisor reviews and visited here. Lots of seating upstairs as well as downstairs. Thanks for a lovely breky. Thank you very much for taking the time to write us such a super review. We are glad to hear that you all enjoyed your visit to us, and hope that you are having a great holiday.

This is a dining experience in a business model that might seem a little weird. Tables are booked by the time and only open on Friday and Saturday. I phoned to book and the message said we have one table at 6:15. I wanted it (have you seen the reviews?) Hazel phoned said you have to be there at 6:15, no worries I said. She checked again at breakfast. The business model is amazing tables arrive at intervals, meaning you get very personal service from Hazel, Gordon gets to cook personally for you. Lots of local fish and bistro meals. Starters were superb. Scallops and crab cakes x2. Brill, turbot and confit pork, coconut and vanilla tart, white chocolate and Baileys parfait and dark chocolate and Tia Maria parfait. Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc. Ludicrously cheap prices. This restaurant is a gem! Oops forgot the carrots. Quite frankly the best carrots I have ever eaten, that includes Quatre Saisons. This is the best double act in restaurant land, try it but you will have to wait âtil December they are fully bookedMany thanks for your fantastic review we were so pleased to read your comments, being compared favourably to Quatre Saisons is high praise indeed.Gordon and Hazel.

Always go by your recommendations so when I entered best Sunday lunch and Orestone Manor came up I booked I was advised the time shiw on there site was incorrect and we were booked in at 12.15 lunch time I stated I was allergic to Black peppers he went away to the Chef then came back to us saying all of there Sunday roasts were drenched in pepper all night and the roast potatoes I have never come across this before as they were advertising the roasts Beef, pork Chicken you would have thought that one of the three would have been supplied without adding pepperes I had to end up with fish for Sunday lunch not what I wanted I think they should advertise that they add these allergic items so people are aware Graham Thurston the fish was very good and the serviceWe are please you enjoyed the fish and service. Our website does clearly state our dinning times . However as with all restaurants time slots do get booked up. It sounds to me 12.15 was the only time slot we had available when you booked. I see from your booking that you booked through open table ( a third party booking agent). If you had phoned us directly we would have asked if you had any dietary requirements. We would have been more than happy to accommodate your pepper allergy had we known. Unfortunately the nature of a roast is the preparation beforehand hence the inflexibility. The Orestone Manor does always try to accommodate all allergies but it is best that we know upon booking. We do hope we can welcome you back to The Orestone but please phone us directly next time.
