I came for lunch here with my mum and stepdad!! They refused to serve my mum a childâs fish and chips even though I explained that she is 92 with dementia, terminal colon cancer and is eating hardly anything!! So I asked for an empty plate and my and my stepdad gave her bits of our meals!!Itâs the first time weâve ever been refused a childâs meal for my mum!!!

Recently moved to the area so tried this place for first the time due to great reviews. I had the mackerel for starters it was fantastic and then the duck which I asked to change the potato to hand cook chips instead and the restaurant was very accommodating. We went early at 6:30pm so we were the only ones there the deco is nice. The only fault was the dessert I choice chocolate orange sponge the sponge was quite dry and it looked like something you got at school dinners a piece cut out of a square baking tray it was served with a melting ice granita they didnât go together at all. Would come back but please change the chocolate dessert Thank you for your review. We are sorry you didn't enjoy your dessert with us. Our menu will be changing in September and I've passed your comments on to our Chef. We do hope to see you again in the near future.

We are a high quality country inn offering pub classics alongside more refined a la carte menus. Dogs and country folk welcome! See you soon!
What an absolute gem....The Black Lion is in a small village but always seems busy which is not surprising as the food is excellent, the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We had sunday lunch and a couple of evening meals while staying in the village. The chefs went above and beyond for us on all visits. The waiting staff were friendly and very attentive. We wish it was our local...absolutely fabulous.

Was taken to lunch today at the Garden Room. Never been before. Pleasantly decorated with wooden tables and chairs. Tables for 2 upwards. Tables spare when we walked in but quickly filled. Quite noisy with motherâs and children screaming difficult to hear each other at times but as people left it became quieter. Only had a n amazing chicken salad and a drink and the anchovies in it were so tasty. Would visit again with husband or friends if in the area. Easy parking on gravel. One comment would be better signage nearby as we got lost.

Traditional home cooked food, bar, celebration venue for birthdays, wedding anniversaries, work meetings, weddings and funerals, live music, extensive drinks menu. Function room available
Service was extremely slow, although the staff were pleasant. Ordered salmon with fresh vegetables neither lived up to expectations, the salmon was tasteless the vegetables obviously microwaved even though they were described on the menu as fresh. Also ordered beef stroganoff, which had a harsh taste, the beef was tough and the accompanying chips barely warm. On complaining we were offered a complimentary dessert which we declined, we donât eat desserts. The last time we ate here was 8 or 9 months and thought we would give it another try. Sadly it has not improved. HelloThank you for taking the time to leave your review. Would you mind emailing me at [email protected] further details of yoru visit date and time so i can look into this further and resolve for youYour feedback is very much welcomed

We found this cafe through trip advisor as we have exhausted most other pub/cafe options, and were quite pleasantly surprised. A quiet, albeit, unusual locale means less riff raff and a better family experience. The service was friendly and relatively quick given that the food is made to order. Good food and it was refreshing to have a menu that suggested focus on quality and not quantity (not overloaded with too many unnecessary options.) Would definitely visit again.Thank you for your review. We're so glad you like our restaurant.Paul and Andy .

We came for lunch this week. We were served by Aiden and wow what a guy! He seemed to be the only person that I could see who was dealing with customers but somehow he was managing to do absolutely everything from:Welcoming customers Taking ordersclearing the tables Bringing out foodTaking billsDealing with queries Waving off customers It was rather busy so there was a lot of pressure on him but he still managed to stay calm with a huge smile on his face. A lot of other waiters/waitresses could learn a lot from this guy.

Visited the Bay Tree last night, on a whim, and had a great night. We were wondering where to go last night and decided to visit the Bay Tree. It appeared busy but we managed to get a table, in the window.Ordered drinks and food, and were brought out drinks almost immediately. Great. We ordered the pork souvlaki and herby chicken. Didnât bother with starters Our food came and was really tasty. The souvlaki consisted of three pork skewers, a boat load of chips, lovely hummus, salad, pitta bread and a slice of lemon. The herby chicken was just that chicken cooked in herbs on a bed of mash. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. All washed down with a glass of Prosecco, or two. Food great, drinks great and staff great.

Traditional British Pub Restaurant specialising in old style home cooking, group bookings and celebrations
From the moment we arrived the staff were exceptional, to the point that on our arrival the manager tried to help us with parking. It was Sunday lunch and the car park was full but you can use the nursery across the road. We were a large party of 19 celebrating a special birthday. There was four children with us and they get to choose off he same menu but have smaller portions. With such a large party one would expect to be waiting for service but no. Service was very good. The choice on the menu is extensive and food portions were on the large size but every one thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Well done all the staff at Venus. We will be back. One slight point - sort the loos out.
