Parts of the ancient building of the White Horse date back to the 16th century, and the two large Inglenook open fires bear testament to their heritage with their smoking chambers and their priest hole. These fires which are always alight during the winte
I surveyed their September menu on the internet and saw several tempting items. My wife and I visited on a Thursday evening. I ordered king prawns and then red snapper with Moroccan couscous. My wife chose two starters, chicken and mango salad, then kofta. My prawns were good quality, but the chef had provided no added value. They were just boiled, really, with no extra flavour and limp salad leaves underneath. The piece of red snapper was either overcooked or had perhaps been in the freezer too long - very chewy. There was little evidence of Moroccan spicing in the underlying couscous. I did not enjoy the dish. My wife's chicken and mango starter was fine. The kofta was very good. All in all, my enthusiasm on reading the menu was dampened by the presentation and taste of my two dishes. The restaurant was attractive, as always, under candlelight. You place your orders at the bar.

We stayed here for bed & breakfast for 2 Days. The chef Andrew produces first class meals that are served with care and excellence. My Brother had a fall in his bedroom and Andrew and the staff could not have been more kinder or considerate. It was so nice to see such compassion and understanding. We had Sunday lunch which was superb and the homemade pie I had Monday evening was to die for.

I came across Paws for thought after trying to book in London for my son's 21st. Could not find anything easy enough to get to, or that had the date free. Add the price and train fares on top I gave up on London.I then googled Hampshire and up popped Romsey. I rang and booked for two of us, an excellent price at £5.00 per person for an hour. The poor reviews on here, say it is expensive. It most certainly is not. We met on arrival by Emma who made us feel welcome, sat us by the window and wished my son a Happy birthday. She discussed the facilities and we had a wander around a beautifully decorated premises. Everything is cat related, cushions, quotes on the wall and some merchandise for sale. The cats were adorable, two were asleep, but were watching us and rolled over, when we passed. They were friendly and did come and visit us. There were mums with a baby, friends catching up, but all clearly cat mad.The pemises are immaculate and toilets very clean. I paid £7.50 for a tea, apple juice and red velvet cake. Quite reasonable compared to nearby chains.I had a chat with various members of staff and found them very helpful.I have visited one other cat cafe and although the cats were well looked after, the premises smelt awful. This was odour free.Come and have a Purrfect hour.

We ordered a pre wedding brunch on Saturday for our wedding party. Mike gave us menu suggestions for finger food and a deli board. The food was imaginative and delicious- salmon with caviar, goats cheese and roasted peppers, avocado and micro cress, watercress and cheese scones, and much more. They even gave us full size pots of cucumber pickle and chilli jam.Everything was ready when we arrived early Saturday morning and was greatly enjoyed. High quality ingredients were used throughout and the portion sizes were generous. I can definitely recommend them.Thank you for sharing this lovely review - we are so pleased our food was enjoyed by your party on such a special day! Thank you again ....

The pub has been freshened up and looks good.We chose plaice which was superbly cooked. If I had one wish it would be for a more healthy menu. The menu mainly consists of typical pub grub and not many healthy choices. Can recommend the fish though.

We were out for the day visiting Mottisfont and Ampfield Woods and pre-booked a table for lunch. We were welcomed by a cheerful barmaid who pointed to a table and brought our drinks. Taking our order of a Ploughmanâs and a Ham Egg and Chips. We had to wait sometime as it was quite busy. The food on arrival looked very appetising, my wifeâs Ploughmanâs was huge with ham and plenty of Stilton (extra charge for the cheese). I unfortunately was unable to eat the ham as I was taken ill shortly after. I will definitely return to avail myself of their fine fare.
