Excellent service, really enjoyable variety of meals and sandwiches. Superb selection of drinks. The windows provide a great view of the market square, and the open plan nature of the building make it a pleasure to inhabit. Lots of natural light and some intimate spaces to enjoy with friends and family. Thank you so much for your kind review Stuart. Itâs always our pleasure to see you and we are delighted you are enjoying our new menu. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

I visited this cafe last week for a salad as the majority of shops in Retford offer pre-made unspecific salads. I was pleased that there was a slight hint of Turkish ethnicity to the cafe itself and usually find Turkish chefs to be excellent. I ordered a chicken and crispy bacon salad and was surprised at the size of this (although it did cost £6) which meant that I could save half for the next day (in effect costing me £3 per lunch). Good for âproper cafeâ lunches and breakfasts. A little pricey if you can eat a large salad in one go! Tesekkur ederim!

My daughter booked the glasshouse for her daughters christening meal. There were 30 guests and we had sandwiches and tea and cakes which were very good. The owner at one point picked up my granddaughter so my daughter could eat her food the food and staff were excellent.

Classy English food in a very oldy worldy setting. With fantastic hosts to welcome you with an 'extension of our living room' type feel...

Recomend3ed by a friend we visited for a family reunion lunch. The venue is bright and modern, perhaps slightly industrial but appropriate because of its environment. However the food was far from industrial The menu is not long but the choice is appropriate. Our plaice was superbly cooked an the vegetables excellent, the broad beans had that ultimate preparation od being peeled so they do not have the slightly bitter skins. the fact this is a restaurant/cafe means that the food is freshly cooked for each customer. It was interesting to view light aircraft coming and going at what is a busy smell airport, formerly a WW2 bomber command station.Highly recommended, just of the A1 south of the A 46 junction

The Chequers Inn reopened on 19th February 2016 following an extensive quarter-of-a-million pound refurbishment completed by the Pub People Company. The pub has been transformed both inside and outside and also introduced a brand new menu as the fifth pub
Booked a table for 6:30 pm & turned up on time to be seated in the upstairs bar area.Unfortunately a largish family group were adjacent with an unruly child who insisted on screaming loudly. Asked to be seated elsewhere but the restaurant appeared full downstairs as well. On the point of cancelling our booking & going elsewhere but the bar manager quietly said the group would be finishing up shortly which they did.Ordered our meals & managed have a conversation between ourselves without the background din. Why parents don't check their misbehaving kids baffles me.Anyway we enjoyed our food in a calmer environment. We have been here several times in the past & not had the said experience before. Large fish & chips not available unfortunately. The maitre'd was very good in his manner which helped although the meals were a little slow arriving.Hi Tynemouth123Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts and comments. Iâm glad the service & food was enjoyed as that is what our product is. Sad to hear other guests noise and children hampered your visit, but looks like efforts were made to rectify for which I am pleased.I hope you continue to enjoy and can review us with top marks next timeRegardsJamie

Nestled comfortably in the small rural village of Sutton cum Lound a few miles north west of Retford is the The Gate Inn, a quintessential country pub and restaurant dishing up a hearty seasonal food menu alongside a carefully selected choice of cask ales
I cannot rate this pub/restaurant highly enough. We saw the amazing beer garden whilst passing and stopped for a drink. Loved it so much we came back the following evening for a meal. Extremely doggie friendly (we took our 12 week old springer). Food great - all homemade. Decor amazing. Staff so friendly and helpful. Just wish we werenât on holiday and it was nearer to home! Visit you wonât be disappointed!

No bright lights or large billboards advertise this restaurant and you would think it was just a town house rather than a restaurant which is part of its charm. We had spotted it when returning to the car park from a visit to another Retford restaurant and decided to try it. What an excellent find, the staff gave us a friendly welcome showing us to our table. There was no rush and the waitress came back and took our drink requests and we only had a short wait before the drinks were delivered. We were then given time to make our choices from a varied menu. Both the starters we selected and the mains were excellent although my wife found the main a little too much, so much so that neither of us had room for one of there desserts. This restaurant is definitely on the list for future visits.

Brewery tap, Gin Library and proper Home made food sourcing totally locally ingredients. Eight cask ales and ten keg products, great wines and over 170 world gins ! Dogs are very, very welcome and overnight camper vans are permitted!
What a find! We have a motorhome and our 'camp at a pub somewhere' book highlighted this cracking place. We rang to ask if we could park up for the night and Dave, confirmed it was more than OK. Great ales and several ciders on offer too. The food is first class and not priced silly. The staff clearly know they are part of a first class outfit as they reflect that in their service. Locals are dead friendly and within half an hour we felt like 'neighbours'. This place is a gem.Hallo wie geht's dir ?It was an absolute pleasure to meet you both at the weekend and thank you so much for your kind words. It was nice reminiscing about Simpsonâs at Hazel Grove. The support we get from both locals and visitors is incredibly humbling. Hopefully we will see you again soon ! David
