We were rescued from the prospect of no evening meal by the kindness of 'The Bell'. We had booked at the nearby 'The Fox' but when we turned up, it was shut up, there was nobody answering the phone and no notice on the door. As this was the weekend where the whole area around Stamford is overwhelmed by The Burghley Horse Trials we had little hope of an alternative but drove to 'The Bell' just in case. Nathan at the bar was brilliant. He found us a table in the bar, and despite the Bistro and Restaurant being fully booked, made sure we had excellent service and were well cared for. The meal was the best we'd had in months. They really know how to cook meat here! And the puddings, all home made, were amazing. We could not fault this place and want to say a HUGE THANK YOU, for your kindness to a family of refugees who would otherwise have gone hungry. Next year we'll book with 'The Bell'.Thank you for taking the time to review us on trip advisor .I am delighted we were able to accomodate you on such a busy night .I will pass on your thanks to the team and look forward to your visit next year .Kind RegardsJohanna Grimshaw General Manager

The lowest pub in Britain in a village location - Holme (halfway beween Peterborough and Huntingdon)
Nice village pub with a friendly welcome and good choice of drinks. Menu had a good selection and all food cooked fresh. We had a table booked for 7pm the food was good and priced reasonably. Really good kids play around out side.Only negative was service was very slow. Would go back if service was quicker. Even when it quietened down service was still slow. At one point I went to the bar to get another drink. Shame as everything else spot

Had dinner here on a Monday night and was pleasently surprised to find out main meals a were two for one. The resturant is joined to th Beehive pub, and also has s takeaway option. Very nicely decorated and furnished the surrounding are very pleasant. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I had calamari starter (£6) and cod and chips with mushy peas (£13 but 2 for 1 on Monday). Both were really tasty, hot and an ample portion. I live on the Kent Coast where fish and chips is a local speciality, POSH fish and chips would be up there with the best of them in my town. If you want great fish and chips are a reasonable price you won't be disappointed.

Expensive food place beer awful and overpriced.not what i would call a village pub.his dog ok to roam but ours not allowed in.double standards at its best! At least we spend money. But not here now."The main problem with this site is that people can leave any sort of review whether it is true or not" said Bailey, the Chocolate Labrador. " Yes" said his friend Hector the Cockerpoo, "We love going in the pub especially in the side room where all dogs are allowed to bring their owners". "And quite often, the owner comes around and gives little doggie treats to us." said Izzie the Welsh Corgi. Milo, the miniature Yorkie barked, "They even feed and water our owners - and in the winter, they have the coal fire blazing away so we can warm ourselves up, We do have to share it with our Hoomuns though." Rubble the Golden Retriever chirped in " I can't understand why anyone would moan about not bringing their dogs in to join us - perhaps they never bothered asking. You can even get Pints of beer in here for our Hoomuns from only £2 to £3 at special times of the week - can't see how anyone would think that's expensive!." Bailey said "apparently the Hoomuns like the food quite a lot and they say it's good value for money. (I even get to try it at times)"" Strange how anyone would think that it is not a village pub", said Hector, " I might be young but even I know that it is a pub located in a village." " I know," yelped Izzie " lets call it the Village Kennel and we'll let Hoomuns join us for a nice overpriced bone now and then!" And off they all ran to the park in the happy knowledge that they could go back into the pub at any time.

Being on the mailing list for this fabulous restaurant gave us the opportunity to celebrate Andrewâs ownership and enjoy a delightful evening with benefits. The Cherry House is unique as there is nothing quite like it around Peterborough. The service is always friendly and efficient, the food is outstanding and you are never rushed. We had garlic mushrooms and celery and pear soup for starters followed by tasty Lamb Rump and lovely vegetables. The summer pudding and the sticky toffee were to die for and I really love the handmade petit four. Thank you for a marvellous evening!Thank you for your very generous comments, we look to seeing you again soon.

Great food in a relaxed and friendly environment
My parents in law chose Prevost having visited many other of the best restaurants in Stamford, Oakham and Uppingham to review menus etc. The occasion was their 60th wedding anniversary. It certainly didnât disappoint. Service was impeccable and the food fantastic. I paid extra for a special cake which was wonderful and delivered to the table by Lee. Staff describing the food were friendly and professional. The art and design of the restaurant is great, as are the toilets! Altogether a lovely memorable evening for the 8 of us plus excellent value. A real jewel in the crown for Peterborough!
