My wife chose the barley mow for her birthday lunch, it was a glorious sunny day which made it even better. We were greeted by lovely friendly staff, the menu was studied closely by us both. My wife thought she would go for the lamb burger, but then as there was a goats cheese salad one of her favourites on the menu she would choose that instead, but she also wanted some of the chunky chips as well, so I told her stick to it & donât change to which she was more than pleased when it arrived.I myself had a bacon & Brie baguette with salad & also with chips which was delicious. We both felt a bit stuffed, but she wasnât quite finished she wanted to share a crunchie sundae so chose one and took ourselves outside to eat it.All in all a lovely day, sheâs now just opened the Prosecco as she says âwell it is my birthdayâ. On a rainy Friday while on holiday, a leisurely lunch seemed a good idea. The Richmond Arms is charming and welcomes dogs. We were seated immediately and took ages to select from the menu as everything sounded great. The scallop starter with pineapple was amazing, as was my Chorizo scotch egg. Mains of Sucking Pig and a cut of Pata Negra were outstanding. Desserts were equally different and divine. Good wine list, attentive friendly service and good value for money considering the excellent standard. Loved it! It surprises and delights.

This is a top fine dining restaurant. From the moment we arrived we were sat in the bar and offered drinks and then to our surprise canopes arrived which were delicious. We were then taken though to our table in the restaurant area which was intimate and not overcrowded. The food was delicious and Iâd recommend the selection of minis for the desert!Outstanding service and food, would highly recommend and will be returning.

We have been here before but this year were a bit disappointed . The whole place was packed with Goodwood Revival attendees which is great for business but all 3 of us went away a bit underwhelmed. The menu was a bit strange and first and main courses rather overlapped in selection. The food itself was well enough presented but not really to our taste. And as for the Romanian Pinot Noir the waiter recommended-------!! Generally however the staff were truly excellent and the surroundings good.

Beautiful food with amazing presentation but let down slightly by some random service. Beetroot terrine with horseradish sorbet were outstanding and my husband's pulled pork croquette starter was also good. Mains of ribeye steak and confit duck were also good and set menu price made an outstanding email very reasonable. Even gin & tonic was beautifully served. However, service was slightly random and a little slow. We sat with dirty plates from our main course for so long that we gave up on the idea of dessert! Also, when meals arrived the waitress had to ask who's meal was who's - surely a place set with a steak knife gives something away??? With a little more attention, this place would certainly be almost perfect!Dear Helen,Thank you for your review & the time you have given to leave us some constructive feedback regarding our front of house service. We are constantly striving to not only maintain, but improve the customer experience here. I will use your points raised at our weekly training meeting. I am very pleased with your experience regarding your food & will also be handing this to the kitchen as a thank you to them.Kind regards,Dan

The Dean Inn, formerly the Dean Ale and Cider House, has been relaunched into an a la carte styled restaurant with rooms. Located near to Chichester, we offer 6 beautiful rooms, enjoyable food and service in the heart of the West Dean Valley.
Four of us arrived in the restaurant (without booking) midweek and were eventually shown to a table. The lady was friendly and helpful but no one seemed in charge and there was a lot of coming and going with presumably staff around the back of the bar area. The starters were fine (I had pigeon breast which was well cooked) but the mains were very slow in arriving and generally average in quality. There was no real atmosphere in the establishment and we got the impression the staff were leaderless and just going through the motions with no incentive to go the extra mile etc.

Estabished in 1856 The Crown Inn has been the heart of Selsey village for over 150 years. We take pride in serving great value pub grub in an amazing atmosphere welcome to families, dog's, the occasional drinker and someone looking for live entertainment.
Place fairly empty, service slow and a lot more expensive than our last visit, steak well seasoned, that suited me but not the other person on our table that ordered 'Surf, Turf & Cluck'
