The geographical heart of England, Birmingham started life as a sixth- century Anglo-Saxon village. Today, much of this city of over a million dates back to post-WWII redevelopment in the 1950s and 60s. Cutting edge museums and galleries, innovative theaters and excellent shopping have contributed to Birmingham's appeal as a weekend break destination. Don't miss the hopping bars and cafes of Gas Street Basin or the fascinating creatures at the National Sea Life Centre.

Was slightly concerned that the restaurant was located in a shopping centre, but from the minute you walked inside you could have been anywhere. Delivered nothing less than youâd expect from a first class restaurant. Polite, efficient and knowledgeable service. Good menu and wine choice and first rate food. If youâre a foodie, Iâd definitely recommend.

The Wilderness is the Jewellery Quarter restaurant from Alex Claridge serving playful and provocative food within multi - course menus, based on seasonal and wild produce. Open for dinner from Wednesdays to Saturdays and for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays
Iâve never used the adjective âexperienceâ to describe a meal out before. Mostly because itâs a bit pretentious & annoying, but good lord; this really was like going to an amazing concert & being in the front row as Thom Yorke guides you through a couple of hours of new tastes, heartwarming nostalgia & colloquial humour, all wrapped up in an unequivocally cool & relaxed package. From the moment that we stepped into The Wilderness, I felt as though we were right at home. Led Zeppelin played as we took our seats, whilst taking in the delicious smells & watching the chefs conjuring up colourful dishes against the gorgeous black interior decor. From the very first cocktail in our pairing drinks flight (a gorgeous orange aperitif) to the final mouthful of the last dessert, we were blown away with each new plate that was set down, & loved the beautifully descriptive way in which the chefs & hosts presented each element of the dish to us with a genuine love for what they had created. I think going through each dish in the tasting menu in a review would be a little like filming an amazing live concert & posting it online, so Iâm not going to, you need to just go & enjoy it all as a pleasant surprise to all of your senses! We have already planned our return, & both agreed it was our favourite meal ever. The staff are amazing, the chefs are incredible, the atmosphere is perfect for letting yourself relax & enjoy without worry of being judged & the music was the extra sprinkling of genius for us that tied everything together. Treat yourselves, youâll never forget it!

A Modern British restaurant situated on Caroline Street, St Pauls Square, Birmingham. Ran and owned by Chef Ben Tesh and partner Lucy Hanlon.
Had the 3-course lunch menu today and an excellent bottle of Californian Chardonnay. Great staff, stunningly good food - none of the dishes would have been out of place on the menu at Le Manoir - all at a remarkably low price so nothing other than a raving recommendation.

We are a modern British restaurant boasting a kitchen which is apart of the experience! We offer a 6 course and 8 course tasting menu as well as a 3 course choice option. We look forward to welcoming you.
Another excellently cooked and presented meal. Saturday, so tasting menu only (we had the 8 course). There were some outstanding dishes; I particularly likes the chicken liver parfait and the Roscoff onion. Other dishes were great too, though I thought that the scallop wasnât really as good as the others.Nice wines and decent service (though this was not quite consistent, for e.g. 2 of our party received side-plates for starters, the rest of us did not).Overall a splendid evening with some very good food.
