A charming, traditional pub in Berkhamsted, The Boat occupies an idyllic spot on the Grand Union Canal. Climb aboard for a fresh take on pub food, quality craft ales and lager on tap and a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy the company of friends and family. Se
This is one of the most relaxing pubs to visit and sit outside. It is next to the canal which we found so refreshing on a summers day.The meals are excellent and they provide a lovely Sunday roast.Highly recommend this place. There is parking as well. Hi Nomad5522,Thank you for leaving such a glowing review about our lovely, canal side pub. It really is the perfect little suntrap and we're glad you thought so too! Please do pop back and visit us soon - hopefully we're yet to have some more sun!Best Wishes,The Boat Team

Well it is a lovely location by the canal. On a sunny day it is idyllic place to spend a few hours out side. Unfortunately the owners take a bit of getting used to but if you put that to one side you can have a quiet pint.

Excellent choice for pre-cinema or âon way homeâ kind of âpop-inâ meal. Very reasonable menu deals too.Staff could not try harder even though theyâre all quite young. But theyâre keen and friendly. They also coped very well when our friends arrived quite late. Could not fault my marinated mini chicken skewers dish and my husbands lemon meringue pudding I tasted was heavenly!Good job, Bills! Thanks very much.

Fresh seasonal food and delicious wines. We cook every dish from scratch, bake bread, make cakes and smoke our own fish. Sustainability is at our heart. If we don't know where our produce comes from we won't serve it. We don't serve bottled water but filt
I have a great admiration for how Here has a focus on sustainability. Food is locally sourced and there's a board telling visitors where everything has come from. The food itself is also fantastic. I particularly recommend the lobster above all else. Worth noting that the atmosphere is very relaxed.

Since moving to Berko 2 years ago I have enjoyed delicious fish and chips at least once a month. Itâs particularly easy to pop in when I jump off the train after a hard week at work. The guys are always friendly and itâs definitely a service with a smile. Good freshly cooked food. You can eat in too if you want. Parking outside. Give them a try you wonât be disappointed

A warm and welcoming country dining pub with open fire. Muddy boots welcome! People often describe the Alford as a gastro-pub, but we're not really comfortable with that tag. The term sounds too restauranty and cheffy. We've always wanted the Alford to be
We visited today for Sunday lunch after a walk at Ashridge Estate. We visited after reading good reviews on Google. We rang ahead on the morning to book but it was already fully booked as we'd anticipated. Luckily although it was extremely busy and a beautiful day, we managed to secure a seat in the sunny garden. The surroundings are beautiful, down a quiet country lane. The beer selection is fantastic, good to see local breweries bring supported and a good range of low alcohol drinks such as nanny state. The Sunday roast was great except for a quite tight portion of beef, considering the price. The potatoes were also on the salty side. The only other thing we'd give feedback on is that the cutlery was not provided by the waitress and we had to go inside to get this along with the horseradish. Otherwise this would have been a five star review. We'd definitely visit again if in the area.
