Visited this place twice while staying in the village. On the first occasion we were a party of six and a fine feast was had by all. Pies, burgers, steaks all good. I had the lamb chops which were generous, beautifully cooked and came with lashings of tasty gravy! We returned for a second visit and again were not disappointed, my steak was well cooked which can be a rarity these days. The restaurant is very small so booking is advisable in peak season. We did think it odd that they insist food is ordered at the (small) bar area which when we visited was 2 or 3 deep with locals enjoying a drink (good selection of local ales btw). Slightly uncomfortable for guests having to make their way to the bar and no doubt a bit irritating for the regulars. Taking orders at the table would be better for all concerned I feel.Thank you for your kind review, I am so happy you enjoyed your stay here, I understand what you are saying about the ordering but unfortunately staffing is a big problem in these parts, we do try and take orders at tables when possible but unfortunately ordering at the bar is the only solution during busy periods.

Our large family group called in here for Sunday lunch. None of the group, kids or adults, were disappointed. All the food seemed freshly prepared and you left known you had eaten a decent sized meal and at a reasonable price. Excellent value.

Nice big pub in the centre of Ulverston. I ordered my food and it arrived very quickly was nice and hot and very tasty. Pub seemed very clean with beer garden to the rear and some colourful local characters chatting away. Couple of big screens to watch sport. So a good all round pub to visit whilst in Ulverston.

My husband and I came here for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed a couple of drinks outside on the upstairs terrace initially, which was lovely, then ate in the bar area downstairs.Food (3 courses) was amazing - especially the scotch egg! Service was prompt and overall it was a lovely evening. Really recommend! Hi 254alia, thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review, and congratulations on your anniversary! We're so pleased to hear that yourself and your husband enjoyed your wedding anniversary at The Mill at Ulverston. We're delighted with your feedback, and hope to see you again very soon.

I found Manor House whilst staying in nearby Newby Bridge. This pub massively exceeded all expectations. One of the best pub finds ever.Very warm and friendly welcome, attentive service, lovely atmosphere and finally truly epic food! The steak pie is by far the best I have had, I would go as far as saying that I bet there is no other steak pie in this country that could beat it. The chocolate tart was also an absolute treat and my wife cant wait to return just to have the tart again.I cant say a bad word about this pub. They have got everything spot on. If you want a friendly and welcoming pub which serves delicious food then this is place. I would recommend anyone staying in the wider area to make sure you check out the delights of Manor House.

Very welcoming establishment with great quality food. We came in quite late and were immediately accommodated by the friendly team. The quality of the food was simply great, the homemade Belgian waffle and the apple crumble were the highlights of the meal for sure!!!!

Staff and ambiance wonderful. Great selection of beer and fantastic array of Laurel and Hardy memorabilia, that really enhanced the decor. We went twice in three days, once for Sunday lunch and then for dinner. Mid-week they have a special menu that was very reasonably priced, we ate from the specials board, as that did have GF and Vegan options. Food was very good, but not great allergy advice on the main menu and very limited gluten free options, had to ask for each dish, less still choice for vegans. They were very accommodating though, never made to feel bothersome and I was offered a vegetable gravy with my roast dinner. Spotlessly clean and clearly a popular choice with locals, always a great sign. Only GF dessert was ice cream, no hardship, locally produced and delicious. Exactly what you wish for in a pub that serves great food. They are dog friendly too, even though we didnât take ours.

A good set up where you order drinks and food downstairs in the bar area. Then when your food is ready you are taken to your table upstairs. Food was good, spicy as advertised!! With generous portions, service was quick and very friendly!!The deserts were also very good!! :D
