Looks nice from outside, expected a quaint little pub with pubgrub and friendly atmosphere. Got a very âyouâre not from round these partsâ vibe upon entrance. Perhaps the staff should go on a customer service course as couldnât care less whether we were there or not. When I asked if they are serving food yet, the woman behind the bar said âwell we start serving food at half 12 so whatever the time is now...â without looking up at me.So their website lies and says they serve food from 12-9 . Well thatâs just not true. Also if youâre wanting any proper cooked food donât go at lunch because all they do are jackets and sandwiches which no one explained to us. And got a bit of attitude from the lady who came over to take our order. Once we had been sat there for a bit and we found out they didnât do proper cooked lunch as per menu, we left.Such an unwelcoming vibe, and gave a rubbish first impression of Flookburgh as we were visiting.

A traditional "Country Pub" providing "posh pub food" 7 days per week with a traditional Sunday roast weekly. Recently refurbished comfortable rooms at very reasonable rates.
This is a lovely pub,the staff were really friendly and chatty. We have been twice here, once just for drinks and this weekend for food.We had a starter and mains.Starter was nachos and garlic bread then for mains a chicken burger and the Engine burger which was really tasty, the chips were more like roast spuds but they were perfect, really tasty and crispy.Great value for money. We definitely come again when we are next in the village.

My husband booked a night away as part of my birthday treat and a visit to Rogan and Co. Our room was big, clean and comfy. Service was good. The breakfast was lovely. Just right. downside was the room was so hot! Despite turning radiator down we had to resort to opening windows and that meant noise. Also bathroom was tiny but clean and did the job! Maybe suggest having extra pillows. One wasnât enough! Also we were escaping our usual 6am wake up call from children but still quite noisy from 7 ish. This could have been the guests above us so maybe couldnât be helped. Would recommend and stay again. Good Evening, Thank you for choosing to stay at The Priory Hotel and for taking the time to leave feedback on your experience. We greatly appreciate all feedback as it helps ensure all of our guests receive a positive experience. It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, Cartmel is a beautiful place with lovely surroundings happy to hear you had a lovely time for your birthday treat. We take pride in our rooms and it is lovely to hear when people have appreciated them. If you stay with us again then we do have a couple of fans and if you ask at the bar and these aren't currently in use then we could maybe sort one of these out in the room for you.We do only provide 1 pillow each in the rooms as some people find this ample however if our guests need more then we are always happy to provide these. We do have rooms with bigger bathrooms these are classed as our executive doubles and do have a slightly higher room rate you could maybe en-quire about these for your next visit. Apologies if the guests above you were a little noisy.thank you for your lovely comments on how spacious, clean the rooms are. Thank you for staying with us and we would look forward to welcoming you back to the Hotel, if you stay in Cartmel again. Thank you Lyndsey

An 18th Century Inn full of character, mixing contemporary furnishings with traditional decor, and real log fires.Great outside seating area overlooking the main Square in the village, fantastic for watching the world go by.
I have been here many times during Cartmel bank holiday race weekend. Food hasnât always been great as it is so busy. I was pleasantly surprised on this occasion as the food was excellent. Iâm told they have a new chef and although I didnât see him cook I saw him throw out two middle aged drugged up race goers who were rowing about who had taken the lions share of the coke. Very professional and should be complemented by the management both for his cooking and the way he dealt with the incident.

When you see something on the menu described as whale and chips, the offering is often a bit of a let down. However, whilst not of leviathan proportions the fish overhung the large plate on both sides and would have put up one hell of a fight if caught on a line. The batter was crispy and the chips were decent. Can't speak for the rest of the menu which looked like typical pub grub but the fish had us hooked.

We visited for a birthday celebration on Sunday a party of 9 and a highchair. The table was very cramped and we where practically sat on each other (was not a table for this many people) and no room for a highchair. Service was drinks was good from the waitress. The waiter was swapping our menus around on the table... not sure why. The food arrived quiet promptly and all 3 course where very nice. Had to wait along time for the bill and a further 20 mins to pay...Dear Megan, We are glad to hear that you enjoyed all 3 of your courses while dining at our restaurant. Unfortunately due to the small nature of our pub we are not always able to offer the most expansive eating areas. However, had you let us know on the day that you felt uncomfortable we would have attempted to accommodate you more fully. Best wishes, Tim and Emma

A traditional village inn offering award-winning real ales, a good selection of wines and keg beers. The reputation of the food is well known and caters for most tastes.
The food here was truly excellent and I would like to eat there again, but for the fact that we were sat in a draught and inspire of a polite request to move tables, we were declined. There were several empty tables around and as the kitchen was about to close for service, this ought not to have been the case. Left feeling somewhat disappointed.

Came here for Sunday lunch while staying at the nearby caravan park and it did not disappoint. My wife and I had the carvery while my 2 and a half year old had the childrenâs roast. Your meat, Yorkshire and roast potatoes are served to you and you help yourself to the veg. There was such a range it was difficult not to have eyes bigger than your belly! It was all perfectly cooked and we demolished it all! The desserts were delicious too! It was busy and no wonder so book or get there early! You wonât be disappointed!
