Visited for Sunday lunch with a group of friends. Extremely well looked after. Smiles from the staff, ordered at the table ( 15 of us ) nothing to much trouble. Starters came out quickly. Once finished table cleared and within five minutes main courses. Big hot dishes of mixed vegetables, extra gravy and all the appropriate sauces brought to the table. I had the roast lamb - lots of it , lean meat and best taste I have ever had. I dont know who supplies the meat but keep it up. Well done to the chef. A number of us to full for desserts but those that did have them said they were great. We will return. Thank you.

Place was almost full on the Thursday of our renewed visit, which augered well for a satisfactory outcome. As we had walked the 100 metres or so from the nearby Holiday Inn Express, we both enjoyed an alcoholic drink. Wife ordered her choice; I selected the half-chicken and chips, and we both helped ourselves to the free, delicious salad. Our meal was memorable for taste and value - the helpful waitress then asked if we would prefer to opt for the 'two meals for the price of one' offer, toour amazement. A complete change from our last visit - we both thoroughly enjoyed it.Thank you for your high score, and we are pleased that this visit was much better, we hope to see you again soon.

Called in for dinner last night when passing through the area. Friendly staff took us to the bar area with our dog. Ordered hunters chicken and a chicken pie. My hunters chicken was only just warm and my chips were cold, normally I donât mind but they were too cold so I only ate the meat. I was hoping to catch a member of staff to ask for some more but no one appeared until after we had finished. My partners pie tasted good and was hot but the veg and mash couldâve been much warmer. I told the lady who cleared our plates that my chips were so cold I couldnât eat them. She told me some had just come out of the fryer so I asked for some as I was hungry. I was delivered a small portion in a pot, these were boiling hot, shame I couldnât have had them with the meat!My partner and I both had vouchers for a free dessert. We both ordered the banoffee pie as itâs one of our favourites. Disappointed with it, was expecting lots of toffee sauce as part of the cake. The base was like a biscuit base with a mouse like topping with 4 slices of banana on top. Some sauce was swirled on the plate which tasted to me like burnt toffee. If I had paid £6.50 each for these I would have been mortified. When I paid I was asked if everything was ok and I said not. The lady said sorry about that....then took my money. Sorry guys, food needs to be hot and plates should be hot too. Hi Helen,We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your food. We had read some reviews of this restaurant and it came highly recommended by a Facebook group so we were intrigued to see if it lived up to the praise. We were not disappointed. The Vegan pate was incredible and the mushroom risotto was delicious. Not only was the food good, but the ambience was nice and staff were very friendly. Will definitely return another day.

First impression - an inviting building in a pretty setting. Second impression - on arrival we were totally ignored for a full 10 minutes, and in the end had to intercept a passing waitress to ask for our table. There was clearly a wedding party going on in the other room, and the staff were obviously busy, but it was not a welcoming start. Once seated, and after rectifying an error with our drinks order, the service remarkably improved despite the staff being rushed off their feet. Our food experience, like the service experience, was also mixed. My husband's starter of tomato, pepper and chilli soup was thick and absolutely delicious, just how a home-made soup should be! However my halloumi chips were overcooked with an overwhelming taste of cooking oil. We both opted for the Goan Chicken Curry with "Fiery" chilli peppers. Sadly the curry was not very fiery, and was very watery in consistency indeed. It was beautifully presented in a bowl, but proved impossible to eat as served, seeing as all the sauce vanished away through the prongs of your fork whenever you picked up a piece of chicken, leaving you holding just a bare piece of plain cooked chicken ! I ended up unceremoniously upending the bowl of curry onto my plate in order to be able to eat it, and to introduce it to my rice - which begs the question why it wasn't served like that to start with? Call me a traditionalist, but what is wrong with serving food on a plate ?! My halloumi chips incidentally, also provided a small interesting puzzle on how best to eat them - being served in an attractive bucket, on a small wooden board, with very little room to manoeuvre to cut up said cheese ( not wanting to use my fingers as I would rather not have greasy hands)! Meanwhile let me say, the rest of the party thoroughly enjoyed their pork and leek pies, and their deserts, and with no culinary mishaps to report whatsoever ! So all in all a very mixed experience with some hits, as well as some misses.

Visited The Crown and Sandys Restaurant for Sunday Lunch. First time visiting for about a decade. It hadn't changed much, but the set menu was pretty good and value for money at £18 for 2 courses. Service was OK, but nothing special. Pub could be a bit lighter, but generally a nice environment for a meal. Will visit again.

The Sunday lunch was delicious and great value. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the pub itself felt like a proper pub, full of character.We were just passing through and visited the pub on spec.I suggest you visit if youâre in the area.

Stopped by for lunch today. We ate in the bar area because we had our dog Jane with us. From the outset the experience was excellent. The staff were very welcoming, especially to Jane. The menu is extensive and included a specials board; I would definitely recommend the sea bass served on a mushroom risotto. We will definitely return soon.

Many years since our last visit to The Bridge, but recent reviews enticed us to return.Helpful, friendly and efficient staff and and an interesting menu.We each enjoyed a delicious, quality meal, cooked to order.5* missed as the one choice of meal ( delicious ) is served without vegetables, and the other meal choice ( equally delicious) served without any carbohydrates. Prices are such that a portion of greens or potato/rice should really have been included to complete the meals.
