Grand Sultan is an Indian restaurant in Tynemouth, North Shields. A place where the flavours of the traditional Indian food blend with the creativity of the modern cuisine. Spices, fresh ingredients and the best service are our secret to ensure a delightf
Went with the family for a early evening meal. Started with some poppudums and pickle and some kachi lamb chops. Very tasty. I had a chicken jalfrezi main, my wife had palak chingri (prawns cooked with ginger, spices and spinach) and my son had chilli chicken modals, with sides of Tarka dhal, lemon rice and nan. All the dishes were well cooked, well presented and very good. Particular highlights were the prawns (best king prawn dish at an Indian restaurant) and the dhal - delicious. We like this restaurant, staff are friendly and welcoming - more people need to know about this gem. We will be back soon

Have been recommended this eatery by lots of folks. Apparently, its difficult to get a table. Its quite small, we were a fairly large group so totally get that. However, food was mediocre, sides bland, service lax and nothing like the experience that I had expected. I'll go back to my favourite in Sunderland to experience real Indian cuisine.

My wife and I, after hearing some very good comments, booked a meal for last Thursday evening at SHAMPAN. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were impressed by the general ambience, and the immediate attention given to us by the staff. Sitting in a small waiting area, within a few minutes we had ordered and received our drinks. Shortly afterwards we were taken to our table and given the food menus. We chose our meals from the quite extensive, and reasonably priced, fixed price menu (available on Thursday and Sunday evenings). Our four courses, including papadoms, were delivered in very good time. The meal was excellent, and before it ended we both agreed that this is now our favourite Indian restaurant in the general area of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We must compliment Kami and his team for providing us with an excellent night-out. Their friendliness and efficiency is to be commended. Well done SHAMPAN. we will certainly be returning in the very near future.

Party of six,Saturday night,no problem booking, great large table in elegant surroundings.Attention to detail shows in the cutlery, crockery, glassware, menus, napkins etc.Service excellent with friendly unobtrusive but helpful and knowledgeable staff.Food fresh cooked to order I would especially recommend the zhool murgh, nice wine and all reasonably priced. This is a restaurant that serves Indian food as opposed to an Indian Restaurant or Curry House. One of our party who travels extensively states this is the best food outside of Syhlet.Well done again to Shah and team for consistency and quality.

Another place we visit every time we visit my son. Recently refurbished The Radhuni offers pleasant surroundings, good service and very reasonable prices. Weâve tried a variety of dishes over our visits and none have disappointed, Onion Bhajis are highly recommended by my husband!

11 of us went here for a meal. It was a Thursday night 7pm and we were seated straight away because the place was empty. Trying to get drinks was a joke. Eventually when it came to our turn we asked for a bottle of prosecco, they said theyâd bring it to the table!!!15 minutes later one of the waitresses returned from Tesco with a bottle of prosecco!!! She poured the prosecco out but it was obviously warm. We refused it and were asked if we wanted ice!!!NO we donât like our prosecco watered down!!!Taking the orders was farcical, and nearly half an hour later after being asked where our food was - our starter arrived. It was Luke warmThen the main course - again it was like warm..... I will never return to this restaurant.

Contemporary indian cuisine
A party on four dined on Thursday evening and all participants were highly satisfied. The consistent quality of the food, attentive and friendly service, warm atmosphere and value for money are (in my experienced opinion) second to none in the town. Every one of our various dishes was delicious. For the spice loving palette I must recommend the Naga Tuk Tuk which is an exciting blend of flavours.

I donât eat out in South Shields , but I make this place a exception , itâs good value for money , if you know what youâre doing , make sure your hungry and get your moneyâs worth !. Donât eat the cheap stuff either like the chips pizzas or smiley faces lol, go straight for the lamb ribs , chicken and beef kebabs etc . Some really tasty food there , perfect for a informal dinner with friends . Really good selection all freshly replenished and hot . Even deserts are nice , there is some rubbish stuff too but thatâs the good thing about a buffet you can pick and choose what you like and what looks nice . 8.6/ 10 Thatâs a review !Hi!Great to hear you enjoyed your visit and i'll pass your kind words on to the rest of the team!
