Things to do in Fleet

Two friends from Florida via Fleet met two from Cardiff for a surprisingly superb dinner in this restaurant. I say surprising because the place was not full, in fact there were few diners in the big space. We enjoyed king prawns, special lamb, South Indian chicken and freshly cooked breads and vegetables, all served in a friendly manner by the staff and owner. The kitchen is open so you can watch the 3 chefs and the smell is excitingly spicy. This is a delightful restaurant and Fleet should embrace it.

Nice restaurant with excellent service and interesting menu.I ate Malaysian dishes and they were good portions of very tasty food.Ambiance was fine but the restaurant being full it was rather noisy.Prices were not exorbitant considering the quality of the food.

Visited Saturday Evening, service was appalling, Table delayed by 1 hour, poppadoms served without chutneys, drinks took an age to arrive and were wrong, meals took a further hour to arrive and the food wasn't great. this was my second visit with a similar experience, Spoke to the manager and told that they were busy. Wont be Back

We went to rice on Sunday, it was for my Mums birthday. Service was brilliant, food was excellent, everything was done as asked, table was decorated, with flags up saying happy Birthday. Cake was brought to the table after the meal, with candles on, music on and we sang happy birthday, there was also happy birthday on the ceiling above the table. You don't know what your missing if you don't go there. We will be going back. We had the buffet, eat as much as you like for nineteen pounds.

5 of us got together for starters and main courses. I thoroughly enjoyed the squid with spring onion and chilli starter and then the wonderful combination of king prawns, scallops and squid in chilli sauce with coconut rice and pad broccoli with Chinese mushrooms. We had 3 bottles of Chablis and it worked out at £50 per head including the tip.It was all beautifully fresh and well cooked. The best food we had had in Fleet for a long time.

4 of us dropped in on Saturday night for our 8 oâclock reservation and we were shown to our table. So far so good. The waiting staff were courteous and friendly, if a little stressed. The restaurant was packed so a short wait before we were asked if we wanted to order drinks was not unreasonable. Our drinks arrived and we asked if we could order, having had time (whilst the drinks were coming) to comprehensively review the menu. We were told someone would be with us shortly to take our order. After a further 10 minute wait, our order was taken. By now, we had been seated for 30 minutes. Our starters arrived within 10 minutes, not so bad and they were ok. I generally find when eating out in Fleet, it is best to manage expectations significantly downwards. Our plates were taken away and then followed a 30 minute delay before our mains arrived. Our friends had chosen the vegan options but my wife went for the lamb and I went for the chicken, both chefâs specials. Two bowls arrived brimming with dark brown slop. Out of my half litre of slop (similar in texture to a rage) I picked out 7 very small nuggets of pre cooked chicken tikka which was thoroughly dried out. The lamb dish was no better. Maybe the kitchen was having a bad night but I shanât be returning to find out. The manager, when challenged (very politely by my wife) about the less than awful restaurant experience we had endured, reduced our bill by 25%. In summary, the Kathmandu has successfully sunk to the level of the other Fleet eateries who depend upon punters who are either drunk or have never eaten at a decent restaurant. But having said all that, the hand dryer in the loo was excellent, so not all bad eh?Hello.Thank you for providing us with some feedback.I am sorry to see that you are unhappy with the service and the food. I have to say it has taken us with a little surprise. As a restaurant, we have been getting non-stop 5-star feedback for quite a while so this is definitely out of the ordinary. In regards to the waiting time of the food, if you were to mention to the staff on arrival that you were in a hurry then we would have ensured we made your food quicker. However, this isn't something that we can foresee as most customers want time between each part of their meal to chat, relax and enjoy their time out. It's not a problem, we just need to be made aware.Once again, if you were unhappy about the food that you had received we would expect a customer to let a member of staff know immediately so that we can work out exactly what the problem is and fix it. Not towards the end of the meal. I cannot comment on the specifics of your meal without knowing exactly what you ate.I am normally the first one to say that we could have done better, but on this occasion, I believe that we were not at fault and I think that if anything, the manager overcompensated for problems that you didn't mention to us as/or before they occurred. If you have any further questions or comments, please don't hesitate to give us a call and ask to speak to me.Thanks,GeorgeTeam Kathmandu

Onion domes decorate the windows of this unfussy Indian restaurant specialising in tandoori food. Having been one of the first curry houses in the area, after over 4 decades it is still serving some of the best Indian food in the area for miles. We pride
I've had a takeaway a number of times from Cove Tandoori but my latest one has been, by far the best one I've ever had. That also includes a Michelin star curry house in Cardiff! The food was piping hot, tasted amazing and really made me want to order another one...Onion bhajis were crispy, Chicken tikka makhani was delicious and the naan was light. I'm very much looking forward to having another!
