Reviewed By almoskusOur spacious room had a view of jacaranda trees (only in bloom a certain time of year.) In any event you get a view of parking lots since you're in the center of town. Inside, outside the pool area is a lovely covered seating section great for a cool drink on a hot afternoon. The bar has draft beer and a selection of other libations. Service in the rooms is dependable and swift. Breakfast is offered but does not have gluten free options. Employees were masked-a great relief to travelers.

We are off San Vicente Freeway and I-8 in El Cajon, California. The Parkway Plaza Mall, Walmart, Target, and other shopping opportunities are less than a mile away. Both Venture and Cuyamaca Business Parks as well as the San Diego Air & Space Museum are within a three-mile radius. Stay in and enjoy our cozy fireplace.

Reviewed By Noor AWe had an amazing experience in this hotel. Room and washroom were very clean. Breakfast was really good. Staff were so friendly and amazing. Unfortunately, the pool was outside and the water was so cold so the kids were not able to swim. No issue with the parking. We informed front desk the room need to be cleaned and we needed clean towels. They said we are scheduled for the next day and we were ok with that. Next day we confirmed with the dront desk about cleaning the room and they said they put a note. We came to the room at 9pm and it wasn't clean and no clean towels or shampoos. We stayed there for 8 days they cleaned the room only once. That's why I gave it 4 stars

Not the best place to stay
Reviewed By usnamom2001Our room was recently refurbished and was kept clean by the maid so we were happy with this. The breakfast was terrible! There was very little food put out and one day there was nothing left and we did not go down late. The assortment was meager and did not taste good at all! The coffee was terrible and all they had was CoffeeMate to put in it. Basically, the breakfast was inedible. The gal at the desk during the day was very nice but the night staff was downright nasty! The parking lot had garbage strewn all through it. The hotel might not have been able to prevent people from throwing garbage all night but they could’ve cleaned it up. No elevator for the second floor.

Reviewed By pringsteinEverything in my room reeked of cigarette smoke from the neighbors smoking in their non-smoking rooms. My bed was sunken in on one side. My toilet was stuck in reset mode for most of my stay, and no one came to fix it after I reported it to the front desk. For whatever reason, housekeeping isn't allowed to clean rooms during a person's stay. The rooms aren't even equipped with refrigerators or microwaves (front desk will rent either out for $10 per day). Walls are super thin, so you can hear EVERY conversation the neighbors have. The front desk also charges $20 for an early check in, even if it's only 30 minutes early. The television was constantly loosing signal for whatever reason.

The hotel is not far from the cultural Balboa Park, The San Diego Zoo, shopping (Parkway Plaza), and San Diego Airport. Reviewed By himthumbI booked 2 rooms upon arrival 3:30 was checked in and wenn went to rooms they were fifty made front desk aware was asked to come back when we came back 4 hrs later one of the rooms was still dirty/never touched and was asked ro wait till they could clean it once they did my daughter had to wipe down dirty counters a s ask for disinfectant spray the room had an odor and tv did not work staff could not fix the issue and had limited resources...horrible experience

Thinking it was a good safe place for myself and my babies to stay the night. I was sadly mistaken and anyone that has given this place a rave review in recent months are clearly being paid to do so! We checked in 4pm yesterday and checked out by 10p I didn’t even bother with any sorts of compensation for my 6hr stay 3 of which I wasn’t there. Extremely unsafe area. People screaming, clear visual drug deals in the back parking lot. My non smoking room that clearly smells like cigarettes, masked with an over abundance of air-freshener. The bedding that had cigarette burns in it. The Door that doesn’t fully shut properly, my two year old could open it. If you’re passing through and have children do not stay here!!! Extremely disappointed. Original plans were to get a good nights sleep and check out in the morning not 6hrs after checking in with two babies!!!

Rundown property with uncaring ownership

My son had emergency situation in SF and I NEEDED to help resolve via 6-7 phone calls. Co-owner was nice, but annoyed at my question. She said "All rooms have phones - OK? ...But are they working phones? Entered ground floor room. Lots of wasted people hanging out in front of my door. I said "excuse me" to get in door and was stared down. 6-7 people moved from my door, grabbed their bikes and entered room next door. 1st thing I noticed - no proper lock on front door. Went to shower - no lock on bath large window. Had to jam a hanger to close & secure large window. After shower, went to use phone. It didn't work. Wanted to alert Front Office, but phone didn't work. Opened the door to go to office, but was afraid of people standing outside my door. I had to move a large desk to behind the door since there was no lock. In the morning, I alerted the owner. Told him phone was SOLE reason for taking the $185 room. No discount. I had to beg to use the office phone. Thankfully, he allowed me 2 calls. No breakfast was available. I had to plead with him to give me 10 extra minutes to check out. My ride was coming to get me. Only bright spot was cleaning manager Danita and her 2 nice kids who tried their best to help me, and showed genuine concern for my predicament.

Reviewed By Venture34847119093Not good. This is a combo Quality Inn and Clarion Inn. Room was very noisy, cockroaches in the bathroom. Toilet barely functioning. Clientele was low rent. Relatively pricy for what you get. Charged extra service fees and bill your credit card on checking in and added a $100 deposit on top of the room charge. Go somewhere else.

A-Ok for 1 night
Reviewed By OC_M_LuIt seemed we reserved the last available room in the city of El Cajon for 1 night on a Saturday night. We had zero expectation and frankly expected a dump because of the horrendous reviews. Check-in was fast, lobby has 2 chairs, a table with coffeemaker and a rack full of San Diego tours and flyers. They issue only 1 key to the room and another key to the Super 8 motel next door if we need ice. True story. Parking is tight but free. Our room was on the 1st floor. Building has 2 floors with no elevator. Inside the room is a king bed with no headboard, 4 pillows, wood floors, microwave, mini fridge, safe, sink outside of the bathroom, hairdryer, TV and a disgusting old chair that has seen better days. The whole place could use a makeover. Bring your own toiletries. Towels and toilet paper are thin. We were afraid to avail of the free breakfast. Hot water and shower pressure worked great; AC was cold; there were multiple electric outlets; WiFi was fast and even if location is on a main street we weren’t bothered by noise. We were allowed to check-out at 11:30am. It was okay for a quick overnight stay to avoid a DUI.
