Trincomalee (English: /ˌtrɪŋkoʊməˈliː/; Tamil: திருகோணமலை Tirukōṇamalai; Sinhalese: ත්රිකුණාමළය Trikuṇāmalaya) also known as Gokanna, is the administrative headquarters of the Trincomalee District and major resort port city of Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. Located on the east coast of the island overlooking the Trincomalee Harbour, 113 miles south of Jaffna and 69 miles north of Batticaloa, Trincomalee has been one of the main centres of Sri Lankan Tamil language speaking culture on the island for over two millennia. With a population of 99,135, the city is built on a peninsula of the same name, which divides its inner and outer harbours. People from Trincomalee are known as Trincomalians and the local authority is Trincomalee Urban Council. Trincomalee city is home to the famous Koneswaram temple alluded to in its historic Tamil name Thirukonamalai and is home to other historical monuments such as the Bhadrakali Amman Temple, Trincomalee, the Trincomalee Hindu Cultural Hall and, opened in 1897, the Trincomalee Hindu College. Trincomalee is also the site of the Trincomalee railway station and an ancient ferry service to Jaffna and the south side of the harbour at Muttur.

We ordered a crab curry. It is normally very hot but they were able to serve it milder for us. It was very messy to eat containing 4 (I think) whole crabs. Fun but I wouldnt order again. (Not the restaurant's fault, of course.) Dishes ordered by others were enjoyed. Fish was probably all very local and all very freshService was friendly and quite speedy. Good value for money

There are two Ninaâs restaurants there, both serving the same dishes. We mainly went for the one of the main Nilaveli Street. Breakfast options are great. Highly recommend dosa and roti. Portions are big, one is enough to share between 2. Seafood options are extremely tasty too. Must visit. And they have a nicest staff there.

Went with friends to this place looking for some nice curry..was so delicious and many different curries also..vegetarian as well..had a grilled lagoon crab was so tasty..prices good as well t..Not spicy at all if you don't want but can get some spicy items as well.great place..will go back again

Authentic curry and rice - one of the best we had so far! Also had grilled tuna which was very fresh and grilled to perfection.Staff were really friendly and always making sure everything was going well. Had a mango Lassi which was DELICIOUS. Another good thing was they were playing nice music, and not horrible house/trance like so many other places, so the ambience was really nice! :)Would totally recommend!!

My boyfriend and I went there two times and we ordered the same dishes twiceThe Chicken Curry was our best and the Chop suey comes with a good sweet & sour sauce. (The chop suey s got a lot of spring onions inside.)The service was both times nice & friendly!
