Reviews on Seafood food in Oslo, Eastern Norway, Norway. The 1000-year-old Norwegian capital sits at the head of Oslo Fjord. This stunning setting gives hints of the wild wonders that lie just beyond the city. From taking in visual delights at Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum and Holmenkollen, to the challenging content within the new Nobel Peace Centre and the Holocaust Center, Oslo offers plenty of food for thought. The Oslo Pass allows free travel on public transport, free parking and many museum and sight admissions.

Thank you to all our guests for another fantastic summer season. We are looking forward to our 27th season which starts on May 2nd 2020. Have a great winter and welcome back. Solsiden Restaurant is a seafood restaurant where we use only the best raw mater
We had a lovely dinner here. The evening started and ended with a nice walk along the harbor. We arrived to a somewhat humble appearing building, but the inside was very pleasant and cozy. There are large open air windows in the summertime. There is a nice view of the water and the sunset. We had the seafood platter, and found it delicious. We could not finish it. We were surprised that nearly all the seafood was served cold, although it was cooked perfectly. Included were local crabs, lobster, scallops, shrimp, and giant king crab legs. The impressive arrangement of the seafood tower made me joke that this was âNorwegian pizza.â A side dish of mussels was served warm, but I would have liked it hot. The bread was OK. There is no melted butter, but they do give you a variety of mayonnaise based sauces and salsa. We had a bottle of Chablis that had the Solsiden label on it, and it went nicely with the seafood. Bring your gold or platinum credit card along, as you will pay dearly for this very nice meal.

Poke is a Hawaiian dish consisting of marinated raw fish, cut into cubes, mixed with fresh fruits and vegetables over a filling base. With us you can choose between bases such as rice, whole grain rice or just salad. Poke is also called "surfers sashimi"
Healthy and delicious salads whether ordering off the menu or custom-made. We've been in Oslo for 2 days and already ate from Zawai 3 times. Each salad was great and decently priced. Highly recommended.

The premises here are half fishmonger's, half restaurant. There isn't a lot of sitting space. It's long shared tables inside, with a few smaller ones outside and usually a queue of people waiting for carry outs near the counter. It seems to be a neighbourhood favourite as well as a tourist draw.On the night we went it was packed inside and out, but we were lucky enough to be offered two stools at the counter. Here, we were able to watch the whole slick operation from kitchen to customer. My husband had fish and chips. I opted for Baccalao. The fish and chips were great. My Baccalao was too. It came with 3 chunks of crusty bread and a bowl of delicious aoili, something I don't usually like. The Baccalao was the best I've ever eaten. I had it again in Bergen later in the week but it wasn't anywhere near as good as this. This one was outstanding. This little place is fast paced and incredibly busy but sit at the counter if you have to.The food is amazing.

My wife and I recently had dinner at Rorbua and enjoyed our meal. We arrived much earlier than the time we reserved and they had no trouble accommodating us. Staff were very friendly and efficient. I started with a smoked reindeer appetizer, which was very good. I then had the Taste of Norway dish, which included several different kinds of meat including whale, deer, reindeer and beef. I enjoyed that one as well. My wife ordered their summer salad, which was huge and very tasty. They have a large selection of beers and we wound up getting beer from Mack (located in Tromso). I would go back. Also, just a warning - I don't know how often this happens, but a large tour group came in for dinner while we were there.

As others have written, Vladimir Pak offers extraordinary sushi and a memorable evening. I have eaten in many leading sushi restaurants in Europe and nothing compares. The atmosphere, background music, ambiance match the excellence of the food and the optional wine menu. And of course Mr Pak and his two assistance are themselves part of the perfect performance. Yes, dinner is expensive, but a unique culinary experience. Irrespective of one's personal economy, the food may not be for everybody. The tastes aim to be as pure as possible, based on first-class largely Norwegian fish and shellfish, and marvelous sushi rice. For those who can appreciate subtle tastes and textures, welcome to Sushi Heaven.

Ultra fresh seafood with large associated fish counter
We had the fish soup and fish and chips. Having travelled around Norway for the last 1.5 weeks before this meal. I dare say this was the worst meal we had.

Fjord offers exciting varieties of fish in all forms. The restaurant changes its menu every month so that guests can experience new tastes each time they visit the restaurant. As a guest at Fjord you can always be sure that the food is made from the best
Just a couple of blocks off of Karl Johans Gate, in the heart of central Oslo sits this outstanding, elegant restaurant. The inconspicuous exterior opens up to a much nicer interior. Reservations are highly recommended, since the place tends to be full for weeks. It is closed Sundays and Mondays. The 3, 4, 5 or 6-course menu changes frequently, based on the season and available, high quality ingredients. Wine pairing is available, although not mandatory. Our dinner started with a delightful glass of champagne, followed by a Salmon tartar, Witch flounder with Crab sauce, Mink Whale, Fried Halibut and concluded with an apricot and banana creation, followed by a Strawberry Parfait. Each course was accompanied by well-selected wines that enhanced the flavor of each dish. On of us had multiple allergies, especially to seafood. The chef was very willing to work with us and prepared substitute dishes wherever it was necessary. Service was outstanding and we felt warmly welcome.

(The restaurant is closed in july 2019) When Nordic ingredients meets Japanese preparation it becomes both intimate and social. We focus on sharing our knowledge of taste to create an open and informal atmosphere. If you give us the opportunity our chefs
I eat sushi often in the UK and I feel like Fangst still managed to make it new and exciting. Every course had a little story, every ingredient a journey to the plate.I have never eaten lettuce and been sad that it was over until now. From the fresh wasabi to the amazingly cooked monkfish it was a brilliant experience and I'm genuinely sad I'm not going to get chance to come again. The staff too were incredibly friendly and chatty, with some great stories of their own!
