For me, La Pineta is still one of the better Italian restaurants in the are. Prices are correct, the restaurant is roomy, food is fresh, menu has plenty of choices and there are always some daily suggestions to choose from. I've been there a few times with colleagues and we've never been disappointed. Of course, do not expect top notch Italian food, but for a casual lunch or dinner, or if you're hungry, it is just fine.The place is shy of receiving a 'very good' rating, which is why I'll go for 'average'.One thing to improve: waiting personnel could be more 'smiley'.

My parents and sister love this restaurant. Both my mom and sister wanted to visit this place for their birthdays and we were never dissapointed. We drive about 30 minutes to lunch or dine here and we almost always have to reserve, without a reservation this restaurant is extremely difficult to enter, even on sundays! Whether you order a pizza, pasta, a starter or a main cours, you will never be dissapointed, I tasted multiple courses in the restaurant and I never had anything bad. My favorites are the pizza speciale, the pasta salmon and the pasta carbonara. Their desserts are equally tasty. The service is great and the italian staff is always very kind and understanding. No wonder king Albert and Queen Paolo picked this restaurant when they came to Ghent!

Found this place using TA, looked really good. We arrived and they were full (always a good sign) so were told to come back in 15 mins.We were shown to our table and that's where we sat for 30 mins, no menu, no water, no drinks. Our order was eventually taken and we had to wait another 20 mins for just the drinks and bread to turn up. We then waited another 30 mins for food to come out (only arrived after I asked where it was) At no point were we checked on, asked for more drinks ect. We finished our.... food, It wasn't great, it wasn't bad. For the price I expected better in truth. The service really showed its colors when we were asked why we did not finish the wine (there was ligitamiltly a fly in it) she shruged her shoulders and just took it away! no replacement. The service here was terrible, I was made to feel like we had inconvenienced her simply by being there. In short, Id recommend against this place, perhaps we got it on a bad day but as it was to celebrate an anniversary it put a cloud over the evening. If I had the service here I would have just walked out.

We really liked this place and the owner. Nice atmosphere.Limited wine choice, but what we were offered was good, and good value.We had starters and a pasta main. We were just a little underwhelmed by the pasta sauce, and the owner was disappointed to see half-eaten plates.We would definitely try this again if ever in Ghent.

We chose this restaurant purely because it looked really nice, with a decent menu, as we walked by! It turned out to be a good choice - the ambiance, food & service were all excellent & at a decent price. We sat in the open courtyard at the back, so could enjoy the summer's evening whilst we ate. It's slightly off the tourist route, but well worth looking for.

Typical place for people with more money than taste. Stuck up and too expensive. Not a nice relaxed atmosphere as a real Italian place should have. A place more to be seen than to enjoy fresh and rustic Italian cuisine.There are much less expensive restaurants nearby with a much more authentic feel.

Was here last night, had a "traditional starter" (bruschetta) which was one of the finest I had so far. Traditional yet respectfully different. As a main we had a lovely tuna which was, seriously, great by all means. Tasty, well prepared, fine aroma and taste. To finish it all off we both had great deserts, again very tasteful. All that with a nice wine that went very well with it. The host was kind and attentive, the chef even came by for some honest feedback, making it a truly remarkable evening. I can recommend by all means!Everytime I read these reviews, I feel so thankfull for our customers, who take the time to write down their comments here on TripAdvisor!Your review was viewed by a another (new!) customer, and he told us he agreed for a 100% what you wrote!
