as stated this was our visit for over 3 years due to the pandemic and various other problems. We were very impressed with both the menu choice and the staff. The food was lovely, no complaints. There is a small open elevator for wheelchair or zimmer which was a bit tempremental. Husband had difficulty going up to restauarant ( which is basically 3 steps for other people) due to gate of lift not opening. We had coffee in the small lounge area where we were able to take our small dog after leaving him in the car for our meal. When leaving, husband had a bigger problem in the small lift as once he was in and gate closed, it wouldnt move either down or up. we thought he would be stuck for a wee while. a member of staff came but still could not get it to work at first but eventully all was well. Maybe someone could attend to this problem?

Perfect Stay!

We chose Arranview as a friend recommended it. The setting and lodge exceeded all our expectations. Always lovely to look at the photos but actually going and staying there takes it to another level. We booked Lodge 12 and took our pup for her first overnight stay. She was as chilled as we were. We found the lodge to be immaculate, very modern and well equipped. Taken by surprise to find an en suite shower room behind the mirrored wardrobes in double room! Everything inside is very high spec. We were blessed with beautiful weather and able to enjoy pizza, and prosecco (courtesy of the owners) on the patio overlooking the trout pond. The setting is tranquil. I enjoyed reading my book on the patio in the morning whilst watching the fishermen. Currently landscaping a garden area beside the pond in front of our lodge. The development looked lovely. We took a few games but were pleasantly surprised to find the owners have also thought of this. The hot tub was bliss! The owners also decorated the lodge with banners, balloons and felt birthday board for my daughter's birthday. Nice touch, very much appreciated. Cafe/Bistro served lovely rolls in morning. Everything about Arranview is perfect. A true place to relax and recharge. We have come home telling our relatives and friends all about it. Look forward to returning. Looked like they may be further developing the site with a few more lodges.

Had a great stay with Debbie and Jim on Saturday night. Shame it was only the one night, would gladly have stayed longer! Can only echo other reviews……a lovely warm welcome, asked straightaway if we wanted tea/coffee……….which we did. Had a great chat before we went off to meet friends. Rooms are lovely, ours had own entrance and lovely area to sit and enjoy sunshine. Our friends room was in the house, and just as lovely. Everything you need is there for you. Debbie and Jim are so welcoming and friendly, felt as though we’d known them for ever. We all enjoyed hearing aboutJim’s football days, could have sat there all day. Would thoroughly recommend……..you will not be disappointed. Mary

Not a £150 night

Reviewed By alasdair m

Myself and my partner stayed the night for a wedding. The wedding service itself and the wedding dinner etc was lovely but if I was just staying for a getaway I would have been really disappointed. Summarily, these are my complaints; - *very* poor finish in the rooms (pictures attached) - room door was faulty and wouldn’t self-close - very slow service at the bar, as in 15 minutes to order and 15 minutes to receive - a pint of Guinness which was somewhere between £4.50 and £5 (forgive me if I’m wrong) turned out to be from a can which isn’t exactly what you’d hope for in a ‘house/spa/hotel’ - we arrived at the spa the next morning at 845am. We were under the impression it would be included in the room price (which you’d expect at £150). We were told however it was only included between 7-9am so as we would likely stay longer than 15 minutes they wanted £20 from us. This obviously left a sour taste and made the impression that the staff were only happy to see you when you had your wallet out. On a positive note the spa reception seemed very nice. At the end of the day I might just be a moan and none of the above will remotely phase you (it didn’t bother my girlfriend) but we work hard for our money and at £150/night I’m wanting the place to be near-perfect. As I said the wedding event itself was lovely and so was the setting - the grounds on a summers evening made for a great view in the evening. Thanks for reading.

Dumfries Arms Hotel

Fully renovated in 2011 the Dumfries Arms is a contemporary, stylish boutique Hotel with 26 stunning guest rooms, stylish restaurant and function facilities that ensure its place as one of Ayrshire's largest and most stunning wedding and events venues. Rich in history, The Dumfries Arms Hotel has stood at the heart of the ancient burgh of Cumnock, Ayrshire since the early 18th century and even predates nearby Dumfries House, saved for the nation by HRH The Prince of Wales and now one of the nation's most stunning heritage attractions. Over its 300 year history the hotel's guests have included some colourful and well known characters including our national bard, Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott, who made reference to his stay in Old Cumnock..."Where beds are as hard as a plank, sir". Much has changed since! However, as an important part of our heritage, due homage has been accorded with these historic words being embroidered on soft furnishings within our guest rooms. We should add that our beds are magnificently comfortable! We look forward to welcoming you to one of Scotland's newest, privately owned boutique hotels whether as a resident, diner, or to view our stunning function facilities if you are planning a very special event. A warm welcome is guaranteed.

Noisiest hotel in Scotland

Reviewed By Curious61209098557

Very noisy with paper thin walls. Kept awake all night by the guy in the room next to me snoring, the traffic on the main road outside. Sounds like an aircraft taking off each time another guest uses their bathroom due to the extractors kicking in. .unpleasant overpriced food.
