The Sun Tavern is an upscale yet casual fine dining restaurant located just south of Boston in a quaint farmhouse dating back to pre-revolutionary days. On a country road in the seaside community of Duxbury, The Sun Tavern's warm inviting environment is a reminder of days gone by, with a fireplace sitting area to warm your soul and five separate dining areas to enjoy the company of others. The Sun Tavern offers a vast array of American cuisine. Listed as one of The Phantom Gourmets "Top 100 Restaurants in New England", you will find cuisine that rivals the finest that Boston has to offer. Awarded the "Gold Plate" by Billy Costa of T.V. Diner and rated "Gourmet Greatness" by the Phantom Gourmet, The Sun Tavern is the place to dine on the South Shore.
We are regular visitors to the Sun Tavern. The meals are fantastic! The setting is an antique building with an active fireplace. The tables are tight but still comfortable. If you enjoy an open kitchen where you can watch the Chefs in action, request the Grille Room. If you don't see what you want, just ask! Reservations are required on weekends. Larry and Laura are great hosts!

Great croissants, amazing desserts, great coffee and excellent service, friendly staff and very reasonably priced. The Croissants there are 10 times better than any Croissant i have ever had in France believe it or not! You have to try the egg, ham, and cheese croissant!

Called Paul today to preorder 3-1 1/2 pound bugs for dinner. He cooked them at the pound so we didn't have to do anything but enjoy the food. They had recently shed but were still sweet, tender and juicy. As usual the Green Harbor Lobster Pound continues to provide a quality product every time. A real pleasure to deal with a business that takes great pride in delivering quality, service and price.

Uncommon Grounds is micro coffe roaster coffee shop that features coffee roasted daily , great muffins particularly blueberry. No expresso, lattes, just great coffee.
This local one of a kind coffee shop makes their own muffins fresh on site. They are amazing. The are huge, moist, and like loaded with flavor. Their blueberry muffins are full of big blueberries and are my personal favorite. The "Glorious Morning" muffins are a cross between b an muffins and carrot cake, heated with melted butter they are a little bit of heaven.
Coffee is fresh roasted and ground on site. It is more full bodied than Dunkin but not burnt or bitter like Starbucks.
This family run shop makes the greatest muffins. They are baking muffins fresh and warm from the oven all morning. The problem might be during a rush they may run out of the more popular muffins and you may need to wait until the next batch comes fresh from the oven, but it is always worth the wait. The other issue is don't show up after 10:00 and expect to find a large selection of muffins. They run out quickly, and when they're gone they're gone.
I love this place. Get here early and enjoy the best coffee and muffins anywhere.

I've been to Carmela's many times and never regretted it. The atmosphere is casual, waitresses are pleasant and the reasonably priced food is delicious. I had a stuffed quahog and seafood scampi. My friend had a garden salad and penne pasta fra diavalo. Bread and olive oil accompanied the meal. The finale was a homemade cake by an intern from a local high school who is headed to C.I.A. A wonderful evening and leftovers for lunch!

Great bakery, fresh breads, and friendly staff. I had pumpkin bread, latte, and oatmeal cookie. Pumpkin bread was fresh and yummy. Latte was great. The oatmeal cookie was okay. It was dry and hard. My husband had Turkey sandwich which he said was amazing. Very quaint shop in a cute town.

AMBIENCE & SEATING (Warning about seating)

o The place was packed, but they seated us quickly at a high-top with 4 bar stools. I mention this in case you have someone elderly who can't handle a barstool. I caught that there were regular tables, but it looked like lower table, lower stools - no backs on the chairs.

My husband had a craving for fried oysters and there is no restaurant that makes them better! Since he uses either a walker or wheelchair, I stopped by a few days before going to check on how easy it would be for him. They were very accommodating and were ready for us when we arrived. We split the escargot appetizer (delicious) and the scallops I had for lunch were perfectly done. Too full for dessert so well have to try another time because the choices all looked wonderful. This is a cozy, comfortable restaurant with great food - both thumbs up!

We stopped in for ice cream and had a long chat with the owner. He was very friendly and loves his work (and customers). We had a great time and enjoyed the icecream. We took cupcakes to go and enjoyed those later. The cupcakes are moist and Delicious will so much frosting, I had to leave some off (my son ate it later).
