Built in 1863 by Jean Aitkin Carlyle (Thomas Carlyle`s sister), this large sandstone house offers the ideal location to discover the delights of south west Scotland. A friendly and courteous service awaits you, making it the ideal place to visit Scotland. The house has been completely refurbished and benefits from double glazing, central heating, free Wi-Fi and a large car park. The entire hotel is strictly non-smoking.
Great hotel, near the centre of Dumfries, the owners could not do enough for our group. Really friendly and helpful. The rooms were well equipped and neat and clean, bathroom towels changed daily. Breakfast was very good and one of our group only eats gluten free options, the owners went out of their way purchasing gluten free options for our group member.

A small, family run village hotel, set in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway. We aim to exceed your expectations by offering good quality, local produce with an excellent and personal service. Relax with friends in our Village Bar or receive table service in our Lounge Bar - you'll receive a warm welcome and excellent service. All our accommodation is en-suite and finished to a high standard.
Warm welcome on arrival from Nick. Very good sized room, comfortable, clean with plenty of tea/coffee etc and toiletries. Delicious dinner, very well cooked and presented , extremely generous servings. Breakfast equally well served. Hotel may seem somewhat off beaten track but easily and clearly accessed from A75. Goos midway point when visiting SW Scotland and Dumfries area. Hope to return.

Rhins of Galloway is perfectly located beside the A77 connecting Cairnryan and Stranraer, just 1 mile south of Cairnryan P&O ferry terminal and 2 miles south of the Stena Line Cairnryan ferry terminal. This special and unique historic building is set in lawned gardens overlooking Loch Ryan. The fact that neither a licensed bar nor evening meals are offered defines the building as a Guest House rather than a Hotel.
Wonderful hosts, welcoming with good ideas of places to visit and eat Very well equipped apartment with super king size bed that gave a great nights sleep Superb breakfasts Nice extra touches to make you feel valued and looked after

Springkell is available for accommodation, weddings, corporate & special events, we can also offer exclusivity for anyone that would prefer it. Located just minutes away from Gretna Green with excellent roadlinks. Staying at Springkell gives you a home from home experience. All 14 bedrooms have been uniquely designed by the designer used for the rooms at the Goring Hotel where our Royal Princess stayed the night before her wedding. Our rooms are beautiful, tasteful and peaceful, seven of which enjoy Emperor beds. So, whether it's an overnight stay for work or a romantic getaway we've got you covered. Located just two miles from the M74, on the Scottish border, we are easily accessible for travellers or tourists alike. You can relax and enjoy the secluded peaceful and private countryside location.
Beautiful house and ground staff were all lovely, it just needs a little tlc and a good clean, very dusty cobwebs, and our room hadn't been checked as there was a dress and knickers left in the drawer!

Friendly and professional hotel that caters to all. During the week we have a regular business trade that takes advantage of all the mod cons, including full wi-fi coverage, in stylish and relaxing surroundings. We are excellently located for all local companies and just over an hours journey to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Weekends are busy with local food trade and also with small functions and weddings.
I was let down by 2 venues at very last minute for my mums 50th Birthday party with less than 7 days to try and figure something out, I called Alec at the somerton hotel with the hope that there would be a slight chance we could have the function there much to my surprise Alec accommodated us without even a thought, and saved my mums special day, I cannot thank Alec and the team enough for all their hard work on Saturday 21st May they already had a function in and were also serving food and nothing was too much of a hassle, Shona, Ally and Robbie serving and glass collecting and they were exceptional and very professional and nothing was too much to ask for, I cannot recommend this hotel enough for functions, we had the best time. THANK YOU ALEC AND YOUR TEAM!!!

The Thistle Inn & Restaurant is in the small village of Crossmichael, 3 miles from the town of Castle Douglas, We have a Restaurant, Small Bar area and our Accommodation, The Bedrooms are available all year round, all are en-suite and all now have Wi-Fi available free. From the 4th of March 2019 NO PETS will be allowed in the building, as it is going to be classed as a Licence Restaurant from that date. We now offer An A La Carte Menu and also a Bar Menu to choose from, and we are serving food from 12 noon till 8 - 45pm from 1st March till 30th September then we close on Mondays in the winter, but keep opening the other days at the same times all year round. We cater for most tastes and requirements
We were in the area for a wedding a couple of miles up the road and weren't sure what to expect from the quiet little village of Crossmichael. Friendly staff, with big shout outs to Michelle who made us English feel very welcome. We had the annexe which was immaculately clean and quiet. Can't fault the price either, I would have maybe expected to have paid a little more. Wouldn't usually write a review but thought the Thistle Inn was worth one :) Thanks!

This country house bed and breakfast hotel, is set in beautiful countryside in the south west of Scotland Rhins area of Dumfries and Galloway on the Scottish Borders. It really is a home from home with two fireplaces, books, lounges , conservatory, a bar.. We have designed it to be comfortable, homely, and as if you were your own country house. We are open 7 days a week .A former vicarage set in its own gardens, in two and half acres, with views to the sea, the Bed and Breakfast is a good base for exploring the local area with golf clubs, beaches, secluded coves, gardens, forests, a neighbouring park with play area and walks all close and just five miles from Portpatrick, eight miles from Cairnryan for the ferry port. The Bed and Breakfast has been transformed into a comfortable country house serving a hearty breakfast with warm comfortable surroundings, and a personalised service, lovely gardens, a pond and sea views. Nearby are various exotic gardens such as the Logan Botanical, Castle Kennedy, the Ardwell Estate, Glenwhan or Dunskey gardens which all are beautiful to visit. We have 10 individual rooms & suites, each with their own bathrooms with bath or shower or both ,TV, ironing boards, hairdryers and free WiFi. We have superior king or larger Suites with sofas, as well as deluxe, or small doubles and twins available, and family rooms, some with connecting rooms. We also have a comfortable residents lounge and a library with games., TV, where you can sit by the fire and read the newspapers or just relax and watch TV, or perhaps read from our extensive library . All of our rooms have a traditional Scottish Tartan theme running throughout, with a slightly different feel , oak furniture and fittings; from the superior Royal Blue and Pink rooms with their high ceilings and sofas to relax on, to the views from the Bay Front overlooking the gardens, or the two superior suites with their own entrances, to the smaller but still beautiful Wee Room, Wee Front , Robbie and Blue rooms- we have a room perfect for you. The Robbie Room is on the ground floor . We serve a delicious breakast with a full cooked Scottish including salmon, porridge, ham and cheeses, cereals, yoghurts ,crusty bread or freshly baked croissants.During the winter we can also be a perfect shooting lodge for 8-10 guns. Unfortunately we do not accept dogs, however we do have a resident hotel Labrador, Obi, and a new addition to the family Bella - our Yorkshie terrier puppy , along two Alpacas, Patch and Porridge.
The hotel mixes the old with the new in a quiet location a couple of miles from the sea at Sandhead. The bar, lounge and reception are traditionally furnished while our bedroom had been renovated with modern furnishings and a few old pictures. Our bathroom had a stand alone roll top bath as well as a walk-in shower with individual toiletries. The bedroom was bright but the big downside was all four pillows were either hard or lumpy and seen better days giving rise to poor sleep. Breakfast primarily consisted of the ususal cooked options with the only cold items being a small selection of boxed cereals.

A very warm welcome and comfortable stay is guaranteed at this striking Charles Rennie Macintosh inspired Arts and Crafts Mansion situated in mature, award winning grounds close to Dumfries town centre. All bedrooms are en-suite and furnished to the highest standards. Drying facilities and secure storage is available for cyclists, golfers and walkers. We have free Wi-Fi connection and multi channel digital television in all of our bedrooms. We also have a large secure car park. We are easy to locate and an ideal base for touring the historic and scenic Dumfries and Galloway Region.
Unfortunately the Rivendell had no redeeming noteworthy features at all. There was however, plenty to complain about, please see below. I would not recommend this property for any stay on any occasion. The hotel check in experience is very underwhelming with no-one to welcome you as a guest, although the website reviews state how every guest receives a warm welcome and how important that is to them. This property does not reflect the reviews given on the booking agency website either. You are greeted by a very tatty screwed up notice on the door stating that you have to telephone to check in. No-one answers your call and you're left wondering what to do next. Eventually someone calls and gives you a code to a key box in the entrance where your key and everyone else's room key is hanging, you're told where and when breakfast is served, that's it, that's the extent of the warm welcome. Then on entering the superior room you've booked, you're greeted with a cold room, broken and tatty furniture and a dirty bathroom, complete with the previous occupant's rubbish and discarded sanitary towel on the floor. All this and booking agency website's award to the property for their enhanced health, safety and cleanliness, really? Also, the property is completely unlocked and unsecured, which gives the guest no security or peace of mind. There are instructions displayed on the front door not to drop the latch, so that anyone can get in to the property at any time. When you have the audacity to ring and complain, this complaint is then sneered at, and on the request for a refund, a complete denial that there are any problems. We did not stay at the property and left almost immediately. As a guest, I would expect as a minimum that my room is clean, safe and secure, this property did not offer any of these requirements. I also complained to the booking agency website who have also contacted the property and received no replies. The hotel clearly do not care about anyone as a guest, or customer or indeed their property. I have tried to obtain a refund without success, either from the property or from the booking agency website. It is noteworthy that the booking agency website do not help or are able to offer a refund as the booking agency if the property choose not to reply to their messages. After complaining further to the booking agency website they just redirected me back to the property to make another complaint, which it’s not worth doing when I’ve already been refused any recompense.

The Waterfront Hotel is right on the harbour in the scenic holiday village of Portpatrick with its beach and quaint harbour . We have 15 en-suite bedrooms, many with sea view . Our menus, are a combination of fresh fish meat pasta and vegetarian options. Bar meals are also available on our popular Terrace area which is the perfect place to ‘people watch’ and take in the stunning views of the harbour ,whilst enjoying a drink or eating a meal. The area has many activities to offer - including fishing, walking, and golf, tennis, bowls, and riding as well . The Dunskey ,Stranraer or Wigtown golf courses are all within easy reach .
We have visited before and loved the food. The menu has been drastically reduced in size and is very unimaginative. We ordered the soup which was very nice. The main course was fish and chips and it was awful. By the sea , restaurants around serving fresh sea food and this was tasteless, pre battered fish - completely tasteless and very over priced. We had 2 waitresses - first was excellent second looked like she wanted to be anywhere else and by this time so did we! Sorry guys - never write a review like this but it was very very average. You really need to up your game when there are other pubs and restaurants so close who are in a different league. Bitterly disappointed

A warm Scottish welcome awaits you at Glenlossie Guesthouse. Excellently located with private parking off the road and only 5 minute walk to the town centre. We also have a ground floor room with disability access available. Check in and check out is through our sister hotel, Dumfries Caledonian which is located next door. Breakfast can be pre-booked and is also served at Dumfries Caledonian.
Location is great your not far from anywhere that's the only good point. Beds insanely uncomfortable. Manger/owner not really sure rude as anything swearing at us. Walls completely stained with drinks etc. Breakfast awful. Pay extra and go somewhere better!
