I was shocked to see that my last review of The Wellington was six years ago - time to put that right!
After several recent visits I can report that The Wellington's standards are as high as ever. A lovely setting in peaceful Lund, excellent food prepared by Sarah and her team and delightful staff.
Seasonal fare such as the delicious Steak and Kidney Suet Pudding in winter and brilliant lobster dishes in summer enhance an already fabulous menu. Whether choosing to dine in the restaurant or bar, you can be certain of great food. The Wellington's fish and chips are particularly superior to any other establishment's offering, with an excellent light beer batter around skinned fish, garnering a "best ever" accolade from one of my guests who has been eating fish and chips for nigh on 80 years.
The wine list is similarly excellent and the current wine of the month, a Swartland mourvedre, quite outstanding.
Owners Russell and Sarah have a great team of cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable staff, mostly charming girls who take immense care of The Wellington's patrons. In the kitchen Sarah's team is incredibly skilled and flexible, catering easily for diners' special dietary needs.
I have often recommended The Wellington over its Michelin-starred neighbour- I continue to do so.

13 of us went to Petros for our Christmas Day lunch and we weren't disappointed.
On arrival good friendly cosy atmosphere in the bar full of families enjoying Christmas Day.
Restaurant was nicely decorated and not overcrowded
Food was delicious - had pre chosen our food ( not normal menu) my starter was a goats cheese dish - beautifully presented , light and very tasty
Main courses - excellent quality meats, very well cooked, we had a variety of dishes , traditional Turkey nice and moist , steak - just excellent and salmon light and very tasty, good variety of vegetables and potatoes etc
Puddings - wonderful ! Christmas pud good quality , roulade delicious , cheese and biscuits good variety offered.
Staff - Petros himself as usual very attentive and completely aware of all the customers , excellent host ! Didn't feel rushed very relaxed .
Would definitely recommend this lovely village restaurant

The good part first, the food very good and some of the staff excellent.
The manager was having a difficult time with a new computer, but unfortunately, it resulted in a lack of a warm welcome to the customer, it took one of the good staff to explain his bad mood. The manager brought the drinks to the table and the age old mistake of placing his fingers all over the top of the glasses!!
There was a off duty member of staff decided to make himself very talkative to the next table and contribute to our conversation, not appropriate.
The gentleman in our group, reported a flood in the Man's WC, the manager reply implied it was all the customers' fault---, not really the answer I would of expected.
Unfortunately, I will not return to the this establishment, simply, the importance of good communication, basic hygiene requirements and health and safety have passed by the manager.

We were in Wold Newton for a wedding over the weekend, and 12 of us arrived at the Anvil Arms on Friday night, having booked and consulted about our options. The extended family included Welsh and Americans, all of whom greatly enjoyed their evening. This local has a great atmosphere,is very welcoming and Sheila gave us her personal attention. The young staff were excellent, making sure we were all well looked after, and we had a range of foods which satisfied vegetarians meat eaters and fish fans alike. for those who could manage it, the dessert choice was varied, but even Tom couldn't finish his sticky toffee! (James did better!) Both Theakstons and Black Sheep were available at the bar, and Grandma found a soft drink to her taste. We chatted away at the end and felt we had enjoyed great food at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended by all of us. Thankyou all.

Here at Mr Moo's, we make over 30 flavours of proper dairy Artisan Ice Cream on our farm, using whole milk and double cream from East Yorkshire dairy cows. In our Ice Cream Parlour & Cafe you can indulge in mouthwatering ice cream sundaes whilst from our menu enjoy a selection of home baking, teas coffees & light bites using locally sourced ingredients. You will also find our ice cream sold at various locations throughout Yorkshire & along the coast.
Drove past today and enroute back we just had to call in to Mr Moos. A cold day but with a tea, coffee and hot tea cakes we were warmed up enough for the ice cream. What a selection. Too many to choose from, but the 5 we shared were amazing. 7 benches outside with plenty of Seating inside with some wooden high seat stools and high benches. Main food only served until 2pm so don’t be late for lunch. Afterwards just snacks and ice creams.

Friends who live in the area took us to this establishment on a busy Saturday night and it was a good job we had booked a table because it is clearly a popular place. The staff are really great, attentive and friendly. It is a typical local pub serving good quality food. Between our party of four we had main courses of Tikka Masala curries and a steak and ale pie. All our food we opted to upgrade to ‘chunky chips’ which were wonderful. When our food arrived we were slightly disappointed that the curries were all just warm and not piping hot. I suspect that the kitchen was under pressure at this busy service time. However, to their credit a member of staff visited the table to ascertain if everything was ok and we pointed out the problem. The curries were removed immediately and with very little delay, all returned piping hot, with fresh chips and that in my view is very good customer service. No quibbles and a sincere apology from the chef. The food was delicious and 4 empty plates was a testimony to that fact!. All in all we had thoroughly enjoyed evening. Prices are very reasonable and we are only sorry that we do not live closer. Our friends who live in nearby Sigglethorne are lucky to be so close.

The Old Star in Kilham is a traditional country pub in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds and the local community. Real Ales and freshly prepared local meals are a mainstay. With 2 log burners and 2 open fires throughout the pub a warm welcome is guaranteed even on the chilliest winter (or summer) evening. A south-facing beer garden means children, dogs and sun-seekers are well catered for. Alternating Wednesdays we hold a quiz night. We are flexable to do take-way too, please just submit your order and we will prepare it for you! For tables of 6+ booking is appreciated as this will allow for better service for you and other diners. The pub is dog friendly, however during eating and peak hours owners are requested to ensure their dogs are under control and out of the dining areas. Looking forward to see you soon!
Had Sunday dinner at the old star inn and what a wonderful meal. The dinners are absolutely fantastic with quality meat and a lovely arrangement of vegetables. The pudding was absolutely damazing delicious. The ambience and atmosphere was fantastic along with excellent service. Really kind staff. Will definitely be back. Thanks

Traditional home cooked food, there is something for everybody. We are also able to cater to all dietery needs. All food is homecooked and locally sauced where possible. We offer light snacks starting from £1.50 And all main meals at £4.95, We also offer steak and grills starting £9.95
Although the food and the service was nice. I do feel like the oil used to cook our chips could do with changing. It's a shame as I was really looking forward to homemade chips. The rest of our food was lovely. Oh well maybe next time when we come our chips will taste better.
