This place is located in the center of Hoogeveen. It's really easy to reach as it has multiple parking spots nearby. The ribs are the best dish they serve I think. This place can be described as typical Dutch dinner cafe. It feels like your in a pub but it is a restaurant. Staff is nice as well.

Right in the middle of the Main Street with outdoor seating as wel as indoor. Great for a quick lunch. They have a variety of snacks, sandwiches, salads and burgers. All tasty and well presented but not out of the ordinary. Service is attentive and fast and prices moderate.

Service is very good, and it is clear that everyone enjoys their meals here.We just had a main course each, and a glass of wine, but got a lovely bread served as an appetizer, with creamy/fluffy garlic butter and tapenade. The quality of each of the dishes was very nice, and presentation on the plates was picture perfect. Side dishes (2 different types of potato, a cooked spinach dish with egg and a small bowl of salad) were good too, but not special. There is plenty of choice of wine by the glass.Only negative point is that (again) this is one of the restaurants that charges almost 5 euro for a bottle of what is basically tap water - that spoils it. They need to change that.

By far the best dining experience here. The chief came out and explained every dish (without request). Food was incredible, wine was delicious. Authentic Dutch meal was yummy! Waitress was very kind, helpful and chatty. Just fantastic all round! Would definitely come back.

It is definitely fulfilling a need in this part of The Netherlands. Large space, low entry barrier and you can claim to eat something different then you make at home. But somehow he staff can't apparently deal with people that just ask a bit more. We ordered a bottle of wine which was served half way the course. Telling this to the head waiter made him blame his colleagues. As soon as the restaurant came a bit less crowded the airco was kept at the same pave making it too cold. Running a big restaurant isn't easy; it really asks for staff that is experienced and flexible. The food was ok and accordingly to the price.

This typical dutch word describes the atmosphere. we enjoyed another typical dutch thing : 'poffertjes'. However, though the terrace was 'gezellig', the poffertjes were not that enjoyable. quite tough and chewy instead of melt in the mouth. the coffee was great - the dutch know how to make proper coffee. We had a light meal which were fine. This is place where you can enjoy an excellent cup of coffee or a beer on the terrace when the sun is shining, watch the world go by, and relax and enjoy the ambience.

we first visited this restaurant in early october 2013. very nice inside, very good friendly and attentive service, with good menu choices and reasonable prices.i chose the steak sandwich xl, my partner the chicken satay. and a portion of fries between us.the steal sandwich arrived, looking great with red onions and salad and a chutney in it, with 3 pieces of the most perfectly cooked steak, beautifully tender, and almost perfect, my only criticism is that the beard could have been toasted, otherwise a perfect dish, and costing 8.95, couldnt ask for more.the chicken satay was also very good, with a proper satay sauce, not the usual processed awful stuff that gets served in holland. the fries were fine, and as it turned out, were a step too far.all in all, a lovely meal and at a great price.however,we returned a week later, having discussed the venue with others, we were encouraged to try the home made burgers there.this we duly did, along with a toastie for our daughter.the burgers as it turned out, were very poor, having the taste and texture of cheap processed meat, one with a sauce that was so watery it ran off the burger and the had no discernible sauce. they looked nice enough but were a terrible disappointment, a much nicer and far cheaper burger can be bought at mcdonalds.furthermore, the toastie we ordered failed to materialise, and we had to ask for it, to be told "sorry, it was forgotten", this in a restaurant with 4 staff and 5 customers, including us.and an extra charge of 50c for mayo with the fries? not impressed.so, how to judge it? if the second visit had been the first, there would have been no second, however, the first visit was very good, so a bit of both, i can only suggest you judge it for yourself.

This restaurant is one of the finest in Hoogeveen. A relaxed atmosphere, wonderful food and great drinking. We were pleasantly surprised by the food this place serves. Original, tasty and fresh dishes. The chef sure knows where to get his ingrediënts, they mostly come from small localsuppliers. When you look at the menu, you know what I mean. Special mention is the extensive beer collection they serve, for every course they match the food with a great beer. Btw. that also applies for the wines they serve. To top this the folks that serve you are very nice and give good explanation about food and drink. Well worth a visit when you're in Hoogeveen!
