Our choice, 1 Hauserbauer special, 1 Salzburg Dreierlei and 1 dessert. Everything was good. Good rate Quality/Price. Total invoice, with beers, 55€. Very reasonable. Recommendable.

Welcome to our family-run ****Aktivhotel Gasteiner Einkehr - your vacation hotel for all 4 seasons. Large-scale and new furnished rooms and family rooms, gourmet half-board, beautiful relaxing area, massages available, attractive packages are waiting for you. The hotel is directly locatet at the railway station Dorfgastein-Großarl, Ski-school and a children experience slope are next to the hotel. In summer guided hiking tours, bicycles and hiking equipment are free of charge ...
The hotel is right next to the cable way. Therefore in winter you are right on the way to the slope. In summer its the ideal place to get up to the beautiful hiking routes of the area. If you travel by car, there are lots of parking spots right in front of the hotel. Dorfgastein is also reachable by train. From the train station you have to take a taxi, or arrange transport from the hotel.

We choose this restaurant according the text on their website- it should be price-winning restaurant because of its cheese gnocchi. Unfortunately we were told, this famous gnocchi are available only on pre-reservations and up to four people. The service is very friendly, the soups were good, but very small portions. The steak was fine but little bit too fatty. The vegetarian offer is extremely poor, so I choosed fried camembert with salad and it was awful. It is was pre-made semi-finished product and the salad was mix of everything. For this course will I give 1/5 stars- I never had something so terrible before.

What a great surprise. We booked the hotel, but we were able to upgrade to an apartment, it had a seperate 2nd bedroom for our child. Fully funished apartment, even a Nespresso coffee machine. Beatiful walk-in shower. Very clean and the whole apartment looked quite new. Parking was right infront of the apartment. The breakfast was in the hotel, so we walked a few meters, but in this season it was great fresh air! And breakfast was extremly abundand and tasty. The restaurant and food was very good too, we could oder anything from the menu! Staff was always friendly and helpful (especially Malek).

Traditional Austrian hotel in a quiet village 5 minutes from the lift station with a ski bus stop right outside. Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, room was spacious, clean and quiet. Food was excellent each night, the cake in the afternoon was delicious and whilst the beer was cold, the hot tub and swimming pool were not. Nothing but praise for the Romerhof and it’s staff, thank you for making a great week even better. We will certainly be back again.

Surrounded by the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Hohe Tauern lies the cozy four-star hotel Untermüllnergut in Dorfgastein. The slopes, tracks and a beautiful hiking area are right outside the door. Next to the hotel you start with the cable car in the ski or hiking area Dorfgastein. The cozy Alm spa area with sauna provides a relaxing hours. The restaurant offers seasonal delights from the region, traditionally served or reinterpreted. A house specialty is the homemade bacon and brandy, which you should definitely taste.
This was our first visit to this hotel, and we were pleasantly surprised. It sits high up in the village close to both the gondola lift that carries skiers and hikers up into the mountains and the local swimming pool and sauna, which can be visited for free by hotel guests. The Andexer family keeps the place tip-top, and they are all hard-working, friendly, and proud of their beautiful hotel. Even the cat is friendly :-) We had several questions regarding our stay, and they went out of their way to help us with each question. The food is excellent (see pictures), and be sure to book half-board. The rooms are spacious and clean, the area around the hotel is very quiet. The gondola is not close enough to notice. There is also a wellness area, which is very nice, but which we did not use due to the sunny weather. There are many beautiful trails in the area that don't even require travel by car. It is only a few minutes from Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein where even more adventures can be found. Cannot wait to visit again!

The hotel is family run very well. An abundance of good food. The Christmas meal was fine restaurant quality. The location is lovely but check the bus is running as it's a 4 km walk to the main bus stop. Rooms are clean and well presented. The only downside was that the towels are frayed.

Your tailor-made holiday in Gastein Valley Look forward to a getaway with Austrian cuisine and relaxing spa experience near Gastein’s healing thermal spas in the heart of Dorfgastein! The Hotel Steindlwirt is your 3-star home for an enjoyable summer or winter holiday in the province of Salzburg. Situated centrally and close to both the valley station of the Dorfgastein cable car and the thermal spas, you can look forward to a tailor-made stay with friends or family. The glorious and multifaceted nature around the Steindlwirt, your country hotel in Dorfgastein, invites you to several amazing activities in every season for every taste. Once winter has covered mountains and valleys in its layer of white, a whopping five ski regions with countless slope kilometres for beginners and pros await you. There’s also a lot happening beyond the slopes. Cross-country skiing, tobogganing and winter hiking are just a few of the options.
We stayed at Landhotel Steindlwirt for a few days during a ski trip to the Gastein area. When you enter the hotel, there is a strange smell in the whole lobby / reception area. Not quite sure where that is coming from, but it is not pleasant as a first impression. It seems like the owner is the only person knowing things in the place and doing everything by himself - we had to get him out of the kitchen to check in and out. When enquiring with other employees about simple questions, the answer was always that only the owner could answer - seems like he is running a tight ship. This certainly isn't ideal if you're having to deal with any reception stuff during peak kitchen hours in the evening or mornings as you then might have to wait a while for him. All other staff are very friendly, but as noted earlier cannot really help with anything booking-related. The room itself was clean and spacious, however felt like being taken straight from the 1970s. The TV is modern, but everything else feels very aged and worn down. Bed sheets / duvets were quite short - I am not very tall (6ft / 182cm), but was unable to cover myself fully in them without my feet sticking out at the bottom. Sheets and pillows also felt very heavy and worn out. Water pressure in the shower was also low. Breakfast was good - great selection of breads, meats, cheeses, spreads etc. It seemed like each room has a particular designated table for breakfast so don't expect to choose as you like. Also found it a bit odd that there were knives at the table, but you had to get yourself a fork or spoon if you wanted one. Up until here I would have given the hotel three stars, but given the price of EUR 160 per night for a double room I can only give it two, as this is way too high for the state the place is in and the way it is run. Granted, this is a high season price, but in hindsight I am very certain that one should be able to find better accomodation for that amount of money. This place really needs a makeover!
