The DR delights visitors with its mix of white-sand beaches and "gingerbread" Victorian architecture. Nine hundred miles of Caribbean coastline make the Hispaniola Island country a beach-lover’s paradise. Day-trip to Puerto Plata and ride the cable car up Mount Isabel de Torres, or groove to the steel drum beats of Cabarete nightlife. The breezy palms and sparkling waters of Punta Cana make it a true tropical paradise.

Only for those who dare to adventure off the beaten path and immerse themselves in nature! Our small and intimate ecological project has 7 thatched wooden cabins, twin and double beds, ensuite bathrooms, rainwater showers. We are surrounded by lush, tropical gardens including a variety of palms, flowers, ferns and fruit trees which allow our guests peace and intimacy. We cater for all, from individuals to groups who wish to take advantage of a unique intimate space which can be used to undertake rural activities or for personal development courses. Our installations include an entertainment lounge, communal bathrooms, outdoor pool and large kitchen. We also have our own organic vegetable and fruit garden as well as tranquil areas with hammocks and secluded spaces, that are quiet and safe so that our guests can simply enjoy them to read, rest, meditate or go for a walk.
Great place to stay for people who like nature. It is situated almost in the jungle, one can hear its sounds while falling asleep. You may also meet some jungle creatures. At least a pack of sweet dogs, which is guarding the place. Rooms are simple but cozy, hosts are caring and food is traditional and delicious. One of the most beautiful beaches of Dominican republic is in a walking distance. Highly recommended.

We have stayed next door in Eco Del Mar 3 times in the last 2 years so have always been curious about this place and wanted to try something new so we decided to stay here for 2 days. I’m so sad to say that I’m disappointed. When we checked in they had no idea we were coming and a guy called Blanco looked like he hated his job. We had booked a tent in the second row, with sea view. We got one with the front into a plant. No sea view at all, but to be fair they did find us another tent. Comparing to Eco Del Mar, the tents here are a bit nicer and cleaner. But that’s about the only positive review I have. The food is overpriced and not that great. If you do decide to eat there, go for sea food. Breakfast is the same every day. It’s served and you can’t order anything different. Luckily we all like Dominican breakfast. The waitress in the morning was also the only staff members we saw smiling. They have a really nice bonfire at night, but there was so bar or drink service. Luckily we had some left from our day trip. We tried to book a trip to Bahia De Las Aguilas, but the guy organizing it didn’t seem interested in answering our questions and couldn’t give a time or place, so we decided to go to Eco Del Mar and booked the trip with them. Toilets are disgusting! They don’t provide hand soap. Not even in these Corona times. So bring soap and expect to do a little cleaning yourself. All in all the lack of service is what really put us off and it’s such a shame because the place has such a huge potential, but when the staff looks like they hate life, even while being on the most Beautiful location on earth it completely ruins the atmosphere. I will instead recommend Eco Del Mar and for sure go back there myself in the future.

We recently spent the weekend at Casa Picaflor, and we absolutely loved our stay. The location is great - 2 minutes walk from the beach with various restaurants and bars near the property. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The best part of the stay were the hosts, who were gracious, kind, and reactive to our needs. We definitely recommend asking for breakfast in the morning. The food was delicious, and eating on the porch surrounded by nature was a delight. Definitely would recommend!

After a year of lockdown, we had enough and decided to venture to DR from the US. After a couple days in Santo Domingo, we drove to Eco Del Mar, which ended up being a 7 hour drive. We had an economy car, but the last 30-60 mins of the drive is off-roading, so be sure to get a 4 wheel drive!! Upon arrival, it was pure bliss. Beachfront, crystal clear water, cactus and aloe plants as far as the eye can see. We stayed in a Cactus Suite and spent a week lazing about, enjoying the delicious food and drinks, swimming and sunbathing. We did a day trip to Bahia de Las Aguilas, which was a short 10 minute boat ride away. There is nothing to do here but sit and relax. The only other restaurant in the area is down the beach. This place is for you if you're OK with minimal to no activity, a few bugs and spiders, and outdoor living. The Cactus Suite is a bit overpriced, but worth having the private bathroom, the extremely comfortable king-sized bed, and the luxury of doing nothing at all in one of the most beautiful places we've ever been. From a COVID perspective, everything is outdoors, and the staff all wear there masks diligently and are extremely attentive. An extra special thanks to Elsa and Pedro for taking care of us all week!
