The Pony Expresso is a coffee shop/bakery/gallery. We have free wi-fi, indoor/outdoor seating and a drive-thru. Best coffee and baked goods in 4 Corners!
This place has to be the best in the area to get a fresh sandwich, some Italian soda, and good vibes. The owners are the friendliest and are there to make your experience awesome! 11/10 would recommend to anyone visiting the area! Thanks Janae, so glad you enjoyed it! Hope to see you again soon :)

If you are headed from Durango to Telluride via SR 160, SR 184, and SR 145 the odds are that you will be hungry when you hit Delores. Montezuma Mexican Restaurant is a fine place to satisfy your hunger. They willingly split a lunch entree for my wife and myself and we enjoyed devouring the chicken enchilada. Service was excellent. Prices were much more favorable than in Durango and the food was better.

We specialize in community. We are not a casual dining restaurant "concept", we are a small, no wait, "micro" town gathering place. We take pride in our wares both in the beer and food dept., and strive to make you comfortable whether you're local, or just visiting. We specialize in hand thrown, wood fired pizzas and calzones, locally sourced organic salads, and delicious hot sandwiches. We also produce nearly 800 kegs of beer a year right on premise, and have numerous varieties of handcrafted beer on tap at all times as well as several rotating seasonal ales, lagers, stouts. If you're looking for something like Chilis or Applebee's, I guarantee you will be disappointed, if you're ready to get to know Dolores, drink some of Colorado's finest handcrafted beer, and perhaps meet some new friends then you're in for a great time! Welcome!970-882-HOPS(4677) Open Tues - Sun at 4 pm Kitchen closes at 9 pm10 Take outs welcome
Very fun local brewery with great beers. Fun, family, lively vibe. Friendly staff. Nice outdoor patio. We had t he DRB pizza, and it was just okay. The beers and the environment are the best.

I stopped here for lunch on my way to Telluride. I like to try local places on my travels. The place looks like it is very popular with the local population. The staff is friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. What a burger. I got the Depot Burger minus the onions and it was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. If you are in Dolores, stop and have lunch. You won't be sorry.

Stopped in for a bite of lunch after checking out some mining camps. We both ordered fish and chips. Restaurant sits right on the river with great view. Live band was playing outside and they were really good. So awesome we hated to leave.

Neither the food nor the ambiance at Chavolitos in Dolores is great. The space used to be a medium to upscale seasonal restaurant and has not been so much remodeled as simply re-purposed. The food is good, rather standard generic Mexican fare. So what we are left with is very friendly service to accompany a tasty, if ordinary, meal.
We enjoyed ourselves and will go back when the mood strikes us.

Not sure how this place has what will now be three different entries, but this is now the Dolores Tavern. Please see my review under that name (hopefully) once it's published. Long wait for food but the people there were scrambling and doing everything they could during a rush the did not expect. Great scenery with the river and the kids played in it while we waited (as the water was low). Pizza was very cheesy with a chewy crust, if you like that. I liked the look of the steaks I saw grilling if I was every back in the area. Hope they can iron things out.

Actually, foul weather so we had dinner last night and breakfast this morning. Both good...I had 3 cheese enchiladas for dinner, okay, they put what tasted like canned chili on them but okay. Lady had salad bar and was pleased with the freshness and selection - she made two trips. This morning I had English muffins, bacon, scrambled eggs and orange juice All good. She had a breakfast sandwich and said it was good, looked good. Off season so staff and customers about equal.

Go on Saturday night for German night. We searched Western Colorado for five months trying to find a German Restaurant. This restaurant is only German on Saturday night. But it's worth waiting for. Rita, their German Chef, is a treasure. My husband had the Jaeger schnitzel and I had the sausages. Then we switched. Each dish was wonderful! My husband had the soup which was very good and I had the salad which was good, but not unusual. Since we both ordered German Potato salad as our side dish, we also split an order of German noodles. The noodles were good enough to be desert! But save room for the chocolate cake or apple strudel. This is worth the drive from Cortez or Mesa Verde. In fact, it's a pretty drive, the San Juan Skyway.

This restaurant succumbed to my three strikes rule. When you live in a small town like Dolores it is important to give every place a fair shake. I call that my three strikes rule. My first visit I ordered the Chile relleno- my litmus test for Mexican restaurants, always the first thing I order at a new place. Ir was served frozen on the inside. Sigh. Really? So I told the waiter who sent it back and put the whole place, including the iceberg lettuce and anemic tomato- so they came out burned...though I wasn't planning on eating them, so whatever. The margarita I had was good, but the rest- not good. The next time I have a basic carne asada-type thing. It was ok. Not great, but it was cooked. Third time I went with co-workers for lunch. I can't even remember what I had- I ate it, whatever it was. What I do remember is the dirty look the waiter gave us when we walked in. If I had been alone I would have walked back out. We were the first to arrive for lunch, so maybe he hadn't had enough coffee or something, but his rudeness was stupid. I won't go back. There are far far better options very close for Mexican food in Dolores.
