I love these little hole-in-the-wall places! A friend and I were geocaching in the area and stopped here on our way home. The puffy taco plate was the special of the day and as they remind me of my home town of San Antonio, decided to give it a try. My friend ordered enchiladas.
The plates came out and looked wonderful. My friend's enchiladas were plump and covered with sauce and cheese; no cutting corners on the ingredients here. But my tacos were not what I expected. While the puffy tacos in San Antonio are indeed very puffy, these were not. They reminded me of tacos I had in Mexico rather than being Tex-Mex. It appeared that the tortilla was first stuffed with meat, then fried. There was not much puff, but the flavor was amazing! Two were on the plate and they were huge! About an eight inch tortilla and at least three--maybe four--times the meat usually found in tacos. The piccadillo was flavorful, very beefy and subtly spiced. The rice and refried beans were standouts, also.
If you find yourself traveling through this little town, please give the Devine Cafe a try; I'll be you'll be glad you did!

Nothing remarkable about the "neighborhood" or the interior. Service was excellent from Cassandra (who I believe had just started working there). The steak and sweet potato fries that I ordered was good. I didn't like the one-visit-only rule in connection with the salad bar, especially since they were out of some items. It seemed a bit pricey for the location and what we got, but I enjoyed myself and would probably return.

Given Devine, Texas is an hour drive to the US/MX border its no surprise local residents know what makes a great Mexican meal. First tip. From I-10 you'll spot a MacDonalds, Sonic Burger & another fast food joint. Drive the extra 1/2 - 1 mile into Devine to Viva Aapata. Daily specials posted, clean, friendly wait staff & a very talented kitchen staff. The Tortilla Soup w/chicken had huge & frssh chunks of guacomle, wonderful cheese, an absolute meal in itself. Given I thought the soup would not satisfy my hunger (wrong) I order the shrimp tortilla chips, YUM!. This appetizer is a meal in itself allow me to take it home for dinner. So very happy I passed on the fast food joints for orginal, superbly prepared & presented Mexican/American fare. Love this place, will definitely return. In a hurry, call ahead, (830) 663-1110. 501 East Hondo Ave, Devine, IH-35 South, exit 122. Why do I call it Mexican/American, simple. Our Mexican brothers & sisters have blessed this country and continue to do so. Viva Zapata, Viva Mexico, Viva Devine, Texas.

For over ten years, I used to choose this place as one of my favorite restaurants, but the last time I went they had changed the menu and the prices were sky high compared to other restaurants. I do not mind paying for a good meal, but the food is just average and sometimes not even that. I have not been back and probably won't return.

We always do takeout on Sundays. Today we got 2 plates with ribs and brisket, potato salad and beans. We could only finish the ribs with the sides at lunch, had brisket sandwiches for supper and have enough brisket left over for supper tomorrow night! Talk about getting your money's worth!! A welcome addition to our little town!

I stop by this Subway on a regular basis. They make good sandwiches and do it quickly. The only complaint I have ever had is that sometimes the bread is not as fresh as it could be.

In need of supper while driving back from South Texas to San Antonio, we came across Rocky's Grill in Devine, Texas. We started with an appetizer of mushrooms, onion rings and mozzarella cheese fried (not the healthiest but tasty). I had the cajun shrimp grilled, very nice and tasty and my wife had the chicken florentine (more than she could eat and tasty). Service was very good. Only negative comment - the restaurant Air Conditioning was not keeping up with the 100F temperature outside and there was a smoky haze from their grill in the restaurant.

Super busy place on a Monday at lunch time when I visited. It was mainly oilfield workers grabbing a quick bite to eat. The employees were super nice despite how busy the place was. They served everyone with a smile. The food was hot, freshly made due to it being busy. Nice restaurant with impressive service. Thank you!

This restaurant allows smoking and it just makes the taste and atmosphere terrible. The waitstaff was unfriendly and did not take care of us. The food isn't great not terrible but not good. I won't be going back.

Good food, low priced, great value. We had two cheeseburgers, fries, soft drinks, and the total was $18 including the tip. Food was good quality, service was fine. The restaurant is in Natalia, not Devine as the address states.
