Find out what Danish restaurants to try in Funen and Islands. This region is home to 700 miles of coastline and 90 islands, including Fyn, the third largest island in Denmark. Also known as "Funen," this attractive island of thatched farmhouses, myriad beaches, forests, beaches and grassland offers gorgeous Kattegat and Baltic views. The most popular spot is quirky Odense, birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, but don't miss Ladby's Viking ship grave, where the remains of a 72-foot longship, burial site of a 10th-century Viking chieftain, have been excavated.

The building itself is a delight - dating back to 1683 and very much looking the part. Service was excellent, and the food very rich, but very good. My main course was rack of lamb, with a variety of interesting vegetables and a thick lamb sauce. My partner had Wiener Schnitzel. Our desserts were pancakes with home-made icecream and a flaming creme brulee. The starters looked good and very substantial, but we knew we wouldn't have room!

Great meal. Immediately sat us in the beautiful courtyard surrounded by wisteria, grape arbors and vinca. Chilled gazpacho, steak cooked to perfection (per my husband) and the most delicious mixed salad with fresh greens, strawberries, mango, watermelon, honeydew, pomegranate seeds, clementine slices, sunflower seeds and a light citrus dressing. And the bread! Greily (originally from Miami!) seated us and continued to check in with us all evening. She was superb. I did not catch our waitresses name, but she was wonderful (sorry!). We will return when we are back on this lovely little gem of an island.

This restaurant is a bit more hyped than deserved. Very french brasserie style interior with lots of different style chairs etc. Friendly service but not overly attentive. Good food but not prepared with the expertise we expected. Some of the dishes very quite over salted. But it is cheap so I guess you should not expect high end quality. It is also quite rare that it happens.

Very nice atmosphere at this place, and super friendly service. Brunch was tasty, but for 169DKK pretty pricey, and honestly there could've been more on the platter. Would definitely go again & try something else.Dear Henrik_moThank you for your review and for sharing your experience at Tripadvisor. We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant when on a business trip a couple of weeks ago.It looked quite busy and we wandered in. The atmosphere was lovely, with a gentle buzz of conversation and laughter. Claus came to great us, found us a nice table and then came back to offer assistance with the menu. The food and the wine he recommended were superb! he'd offered to drink the wine himself if we didn't like it. The pace that the meal was served at was just right! His mum was helping on the tables that evening and she was lovely too! Would definitely recommend it, the food and the wine were excellent and not over expensive. The service and the "banter" was amazing. Would definitely go again.

Restaurant Rudolf Mathis is perfectly located in Kertemindeâs fishing environment - and the view is absolutely perfect. Here you will really be asked about both raw materials, taste buds and guests with beautiful dishes and delicious drops. Futher description is unnecessary - the pictures speak for themselves. The fish menu here in August is the most tasty fish menu we have ever had. We highly recommend Restaurant Rudolf Mathis.
