Last night, I went to the Majestic River restaurant with my girlfriend. Yes, you read well, "last night", the 11th November 2018: the Majestic River is open once again! It's a wonderful news because the Majestic River is not only one of the best restaurants of Kinshasa, it's also on a boat and offers a breathtaking view of the Congo River and of Brazzaville, the nearby capital. The view was exhilarating, the food was excellent and the staff was great. What is more, it wasn't as expensive as I had imagined. On the contrary, we paid only $63 for two, with four drinks. With such a view, on a boat, how can you beat that?

We had dinner last night at L'Olive verte. The food was awesome. I had chicken in a lovely coconut sauce, like the one I used to eat in Goa and in Kerala (Southern India) with rice and my friend had a beef lasagna. We both enjoyed our food very much. It's worth the high price, since it is so special for Kinshasa. The drinks are too pricey though. A 250 ml of the most common beer for 5 USD, a basic cocktail for 12 USD,... Is it serious? What we particularly enjoyed was the careful and stylish décor. We sat in front of a colorful swimming-pool, backed by an impressive black wall studded with decorative niches. There was an overhanging mango tree and a palm tree in front of the pool as well. The music was pretty good too... It is definitely a place to hang out!Thank you Steeve P for your honest review. We are a fairly new restaurant and we constantly strive to bring the best quality of food and service to all our clients. we will soon be revising our menu and pricing and we hope to be serving you again! thank you again for reviewing our restaurant.

There used to be two hotels/restaurants you could go to in Kinshasa: the Memling and the Intercon. The Memling is no longer in a good neighborhood, and the Intercon is under new and unskilled management. So the Hacienda (Belgian owned) is, at $150, an alternative; I got $100 for b and b, at an institutional discount. Restaurant serves pricey but generally good continental cuisine for lunch and dinnerThings to like: acceptable breakfasts, normal continental cuisine for lunch and dinner, clean and modern rooms. The connectivity is slow during the day, but speeds up at night. On cable, I got BBC; most other channels were in French.
Where to eat Bar food in Kinshasa: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Terrase, lounge bar, Night Club with International standards. Taste the best BBQ in our terrase if you are in chill out mood or boost your adrenaline inside our Night Club with your favourite music and mouth watering wide range of cocktails.
The Spirit is a new nightclub. It is very well-equipped. The cocktails are good. I recommend you to try their Sex-on-the-beach. They might ask you "corsé ou non corsé ?", "strong or not?" Beware of the corsé! My friend chose that one and it took her over an hour to think clearly again! The waiters and waitresses are very attentive and they know what they sell - which is pretty rare in Kinshasa! The nightclub opens its doors at 10:00 pm, but I suggest you to wait until 11:00 or even midnight if you want to see more people and experience the "ambiance kinoise". It is around midnight that they usually play Koffi and Fally, two artists who are specialized in rumba, the traditional Congolese dance. It is at that moment that things become serious... If you are an outsider, you may think people are trying to make love with their clothes on, in public! However, it isn't what is happening: it is rumba. They aren't trying to make love, they are dancing. It is beautiful and even more so if you can dance it yourself. That often requires a patient and open-minded Congolese partner, plus a desire to learn, but it is rewarding - very rewarding. Enjoy!

I went last night to the Monte Cristo, a Belgian bar in front of the Ambassador of France's residence, along the Congo River, to watch a football match, Belgium-England. Belgium won 1 to 0. I paid $10 for the match and it included two Belgian beers (Jupiler) and Belgian fries. There were about 500 people. The ambiance was awesome, with terrific music, good food, helpful staff, well-thought organization... Well, everything was excellent! I'll go back whenever I can. I advise you all to go, especially when there is an event like this.
