VA. City is a huge tourist trap. I generally do not go near cities like this. But we had a nice drive up the Mtn. until we hit main street. A jumble of crowded kitsch emporiums.
Luckily we found this wonderful Mex. restaurant on the edge of town. Just far enough out to not be in the trap itself. Our food was very good. Portions are large. My wife and I split a salad and order of cheese enchiladas. Chips and salsa were also tasty. Service was friendly and efficient. In my opinion, this place would be the only reason to visit town.

They employees know lots of folks by name and are always friendly. Starbucks is generally the same everywhere, so all that makes one better than the other is the staff and cleanliness. This one definitely has the staff. They are always very friendly and efficient.

Dayton Nevada is a small town, but this restaurant rivals some in bigger cities. Excellent Italian food. Wonderful staff. And a beautiful bar and dining room! Located in a historic district that was the “China Town” of the gold rush era of the Comstock mining district. Down the canyon from historic Virginia City.

At The Roasting House, we micro-roast specialty coffee in historic Virginia City, Nevada and offer our quality coffee to consumers at local bakeries, as well as on our online shop. We had a late breakfast here and it was delicious. The coffee was the best. The service was great. The cafe is adorable and the location is great.

Bullwinkle's (casual dining) was recently remodeled and opened by Bonnie and Joe, who previously owned Gold Canyon Steakhouse (which was fine dining). It has a bar area, but also has a family-friendly dining area. They have many of the same menu items as the former steakhouse they owned, except they also have great sandwiches, pizza, burgers, and the Chicken Piccata is to die for. Portions are generous Everything is homemade including soups, dressings. Outdoor dining is very nice at the picnic tables out front. Service is perfect. We are very happy to now have a great restaurant that we can go to wihout driving into Carson City. If you're headed to Virginia City from Carson City, it is right on the way on highway 50, just before the Virigina City turnoff. We plan to try the Sunday brunch.

Several men from our church meet at Baker's Dozen on Saturday mornings. They have a good variety of raised and cake donuts, some with nuts and coconut, cinnamon rolls, fritters, creme filled, old fashioned sprinkles and more. They are very friendly folks and appreciate your business. Give them a try.

Who can resist home made fudge or toffee crunch, not me. The ladies in the shop where very friendly. They even offered free samples. Most everything is packaged and ready for purchase. If you want to buy anything over a pound the friendly staff will assist you. The toffee crunch I purchased was delicious.

If you are traveling through Dayton and need some good Mexican food then this is your spot. They have been serving up classic Mexican dishes at Compadres for 20 years. This cute little house was turned into a classic Mexican Restaurant where all the locals go to eat good Mexican food. Kids and Families are welcome. Full Mexican style bar serving up all your classic Margaritas and Cerveza's. Just down the street from the Dayton Museum. This restaurant has signs off the highway 50 to help navigate you into the historic town of Dayton. Lots of outside seating for the summer and also has spacious indoor seating. Great service and a place not to miss if you are hungry and traveling through Dayton, Nevada.

Wow! This is one of the nicest candy stores I've ever been to. It's really clean, colorful and very pleasant to walk around. They have all kinds of candy and it's so much fun to reminisce (and buy!) all the vintage candy you can't find elsewhere. They also sell ice cream which was delicious and they were very generous with the portions.

Family style restaurant great for groups and children that become a fun music and dance venue on Friday and Saturday nights
The Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City, NV is very cool. I was there during Reno Street Vibrations, so the whole town was filled with bikers and motorcycles. If you don't like this kind of stuff, I suggest you don't go there. Oh, Red Dog...MoreThanks for stopping in and enjoying a beer and a good review! We will be here next Street Vibrations for you to enjoy.
