Always fresh donuts and coffee are available 24 hours a day.
Royal Donut offers some of the best donuts! My favorites are the donut holes and chocolate eclairs! The staff is very friendly and prompt!

We showed up here for a late lunch...about 1:15 pm on a Monday...and still had to stand in line. We felt lucky to get a table! Turns out we were the end of the lunch rush, I suppose. It cleared out considerably while we were eating. This is a very popular spot among the locals. The burgers appear to be legendary, and the fish sandwich was great too. What I like about this restaurant is that it isn't pretentious. You order what you want. Don't want fries? Don't order them! Milkshakes come in one size - you either want one or you don't. I thoroughly enjoyed mine! I also enjoyed the "salt and pepper" that were served in little plastic tubs on each table. It's garlic salt and cayenne pepper, I think. Nice touch.

It's not that Charlotte's sits as a town cottage. Rather it's quaint rooms and atmosphere create an ambiance of relaxed and leisurely dining. Our breakfast stop while traveling, Charlotte's street view reflects past genteel living. The side door enters to the ordering counter with a substantial chalkboard menu. Orders are delivered to your table in one of a few dining rooms. We chose the windowed porch on a bright spring morning. There is garden seating, too, for milder mornings. We found the food of quality: a nicely toasted bagel, blueberry scone (with scone texture), and fruit-laden oatmeal. Coffee was good and there was a nice selection of teas. Bakery items and small gift shop beg a look. Parking on the side street, and there is drive thru service.

Custard Cup was first started in 1949. It was originally opened by George and Helen Potter at 2507 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, IL. There they started selling the Custard that Mr. Potter had developed a recipe for. Business started slow, and it was not uncommon to see George and Helen sitting out back playing cards while they waited for customers to come in. The Potter's also created our signature Cold Fudge, to solve the problem of Custard melting when hot fudge was put on it. They owned the business for 20 years and then decided that they were ready to retire. The Potter's had no children, so they sold "The Cup" to the Wilmer and Dorotha Jarling in 1969.
Family owned custard shop. Custard Cup, as locals call it - yummy yummy frozen custard in a variety of flavors a with special flavor each week. The usual soda shop offerings - cones (homemade waffle cones), sundaes, sodas, shakes and more. Even soft and hard packs for taking home. Lemon is a traditional favorite. My family likes the lemon as a sundae with cold fudge. Sounds crazy, but is SO good.

We often look for local bars and restaurants as we travel. This one involved a bit more "looking for" as it's located away from most everything. Thank you, GPS - we apologize for doubting you! We loved the atmosphere (even the paper wrapped around the enormous burgers made us smile) and we enjoyed the food. It was exactly what we wanted in our travels. Don't change a thing, Moon-Glo.

I was in town for work and I was able to visit my family for dinner being that I was born and raised in the area. The food was very good and the staff was available to make sure your needs are taken care off.

Yes thanks to a recommendation from the manager of my hotel La Potosina proved an excellent and truly authentic surprise! Lengua tacos are the true test for a real Mexican restaurant. They were delicious and tender! I'll be back. Their menu had many other authentic choices that aren't typical for Mexican in eastern Illinois.

Nice - our son took us here to celebrate his Mom on Mothers Day!! Nice treat. Food was good and the service friendly. Prices were reasonable and all went well. Nice bit of nostalgia. Root beer was only fair but I'm an old Frosty Root Beer guy so nothing other will ever measure up.
