Dallas Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Dallas

April 22, 2023 Christa Meece

You may have all heard that everything is bigger in Texas. Well, Dallas does its best to fulfill that promise. You'll find several museums with vast art collections and fascinating specialty museums like The Sixth Floor Museum/Texas School Book Depository, which, though small in size, offers an immense amount of information about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. And of course, visit a local steakhouse for a terrific (and enormous) meal.

How can you say perfect!

Needing to get to Love Field for an early flight, we decided to head to Dallas without a reservation. I found this hotel accidentally. I booked it online while outside the hotel. GREAT price for night for a night. The hotel staff exceeded our expectations. Michael, who was working the front desk, was extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was nice and CLEAN! It was perfect! Usually we find something that isn’t clean, but not this time. Parking was free as well as breakfast. Breakfast was supposed to start at 6. We went down a little early to get another cup of coffee and breakfast was already being served. Typical hotel breakfast, but was hot and fresh. Even the biscuits were soft! It took us about 12 minutes to get to our parking lot and we’re able to do so without getting on the freeway. Found my new hotel on the night before our early morning flights!

The Guild was by far the BEST place to stay! It's location was within walking distance to all major districts. The area was safe and very well maintained. The Guild itself was impeccable with the most BREATHTAKING views!! The room was very clean with everything you would need. The bed was so comfortable! Thanks to all The Guild staff for an unforgettable stay! Of note, it is so worth to pay for parking in the parking garage as there is nowhere else you could park. No complaints here!

The place is dirty, and not in a good area. The website says they offer a free airport shuttle to Love Field! No such service, the front desk desk person called for a taxi which I had to pay for when I arrived at the airport. The pictures on the website are not current. The place is nowhere as clean as the pictures show.

The biggest negative: It's beyond the hotel's control, but the surrounding nightlife is rowdy. Consider the noise before staying. Booking Sunday-Thursday may save you, but bring ear plugs or white-noise to avoid staying up until 2:30 AM waiting for peace and quiet. Now the pleasantries: I dreamed about this hotel since I first saw it on KERA. Mother's Day Weekend 2021, my husband surprised me. We dropped our bags off early, parked, and explored the neighborhood on foot. When we returned at 4, I immediately felt a surge of excitement in the lobby. The staff were courteous and attentive, thinking of every comfort. My little girls would have expected a princess to live here, and I felt my inner-little-girl jumping up and down. The camera came out so I could relive this moment. Suite 7, was bigger than my first apartment! There was a small cheese plate waiting; we were offered champagne. It all made me feel so special and pampered. Then we noticed: bulbs burned out, exterior wood panels needing repair from wood rot and a good coat of paint, gardens needing weeding, and we didn't see any other guests. At breakfast, we had the dining room all to ourselves. If I could sum it up - sad majesty. Covid hit hard. Inside, it's so quiet where I had imagined quiet conversations and the tinkling of laughter. If you have the means, even for one night, I beg you stay here. Please give this historical manor your business. I want to come again when it's restored to peak condition.

Family wedding and Excellent service

Reviewed By EllenD577

We had a small family wedding on the property, from start to finish the staff were very accommodating and helpful, from needed items for a 6 month old to assistance with luggage, catering a brunch on site. The rooms are very comfortable with large counter space and two sinks in the bath area. The complimentary breakfast croissants rival any at a good French bakery. Not the average hotel dry boring pasteries. Highly recommend. Lots of restaurant bar options on property, great pools, golf putting green.

Do not stay here

Reviewed By Mike K

I was here for 3 weeks and 3 days, spent $945 at this establishment total during our stay. The staff was very rude, could barely speak English let alone understand it. Im going to break down my stay for you. Every day I went to work at 6 am, worked in the 110+ degree Texas heat only to come back to a hot room because instead of maintaining their HVAC equipment they just turn them off in the morning so they don’t run all day. The maids only came 2 times a week. When they did they didn’t change the bedding, they only made the bed. When I went to pay for week 2 I was told I had to keep my room cleaner because the maids were complaining. My room was clean, the only thing that was out was 2 empty water bottles on the night stand, an empty beer can next to the water bottles and a neat pile of dirty clothes tucked off out of the way under the only chair in the room, that was broken and unusable. Unfortunately it’s not hard for a 300 sqft room to look cluttered. After some heated words with the staff they finally kept our AC units cooling all day, near the end of week 2. During one of the maid cleanings in week two, they threw away a brand new, sealed in package pair of contacts that were sitting next to the sink. The room floods when it rains, the plumbing makes a god aweful squeal when you turn the sink on, and if you’re like me, the unlucky one of the group, you get a disgusting carpet that doesn’t look like it has been cleaned in years. Week 3 was fairly quiet, didn’t have much interaction with the staff. When my coworker and I went in to pay for the last 3 days of our stay, instead of verbally speaking to get my coworkers attention, the guy behind the counter started pounding on the counter to get his attention. That didn’t go over well with either of us. Our last morning there, loaded all of our stuff up in the car and went to the ice machine to put some ice in our cooler to keep our cold food cold throughout our workday around 5:30 am. The lady comes out of the office and tells us that’s enough, tells us to stop filling the cooler. This was the first time in 3 weeks and 3 days, $945, that we got any ice out of that machine. Screw that place, the rude staff, terrible rooms and terrible location are enough for me to never go back.
