The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere is a modern style and almost reminds the scandal style set up. The food options are also great and I tasted sea food dish for lunch as the plat du jour. However the dessert option was very disappointing as they brought a yoghurt with jam.

With so many places around there is really no reason to come to the Astoria unless for some kind of challenge you want to eat/sleep in all the Hotels named Astoria in the world. However I had colleagues sleeping there and I joined the restaurant for supper. Food wasnât special. Like a low level fusion of Senegalese (too long cooked pasta) and European (pepper sauce over the steak). Not particularly slow but for sure tasteless. For the same price you can find better a few blocks away.

So we went to meet friends living in Paris for dinner who were spending a couple of weeks in Dakar. They suggested La plancha as it was in town close to where they were staying and a place with nice setting and food. I cannot stress again on how much one should avoid restaurants that have several cuisines on their menu and without a particular identity... this is one of them where one could find Italian, French, Senegalese/African and Asian... and when both my husband and I saw the menu we prepared ourselves psychologically for a bad dinner but were still hopeful for a miracle...that did not come!We ordered the rouleau de printemps/ Spring rolls, the noodles with calamari and I had the chicken Asian dish with rice (the sauce was not clearly specified ... but I was guaranteed that it was spicy and delicious). So the noodles, and do not ask me how the cook managed that, was so overcooked that almost looked smashed... no taste whatsoever also ...My dish was a winner where I could not identify anything...sauce unrecognisable for me... salty and no spices at all..the rice turned out to be plain white rice and also overcooked ad sticky... we just accepted the fate, had a few bites and went home with the promise to never repeat this mistake again.

This is a lovely Pub & Restaurant just off Avenue Bourguiba. The food is delicious with one or two African or European specials on the blackboard every day. Pricing is modest. The service is attentive. The Pub/Bar is very well stocked, air-conditioned and extremely dark but your eyes adjust after a few minutes!! It's a great spot to know and to hang out with friends in Dakar.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We stopped in for lunch on the recommendation of our hotel and were charmed by the decor and the location of the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and put us at a table overlooking the ocean and
Great spot to sit with a cold beverage and enjoying the view of the Atlantic. Very close to the western-most point on continental Africa, and the dramatic environs donât disappoint. Watching the surf break over the rocks at sunset is definitely recommended.
