U.S. citizens still need to jump through a few hoops to visit Cuba, but as visitors from around the world know, the island offers fascinating opportunities for cultural exchange... and some simply amazing beaches. Havana is a balance of old-world architecture and contemporary nightlife. The UNESCO World Heritage town of Trinidad is a vision of Spanish colonial architecture and makes a great base for a visit to the hauntingly beautiful Valley of the Sugar Mills.

We had an excellent stay with Armando in Matanzes. Nothing was too much trouble, whether it was local info, taxis or shopping. The staff were also great. The two rooms we used were airy and light...the first room was great, but Armando moved us into the penthouse as soon as it became available...the roof terrace(s) were a fantastic place to eat and take in local life in the streets below and beyond. The meals were fantastic...we normally never eat anything other than breakfast in our accommodation, but we ate every night here...all the meals were excellent and we never once managed to clear the table of the huge spreads provided. When our internet cards ran out, Armando allowed us to purchase some of his own supply. Can't recommend La Villa Sonada enough.

The bed and breadfast El destino is a family house that Xavier, the host, has transformed into an little hotel with 4 independent rooms with a total capacity for 16 people. Located to only 3 blocks of the Plaza Mayor, the tourist reference point of the city, allows you to arrive in minutes to any place of interest for the tourists that visit the village of Trinidad in Cuba.
Yaily and Xavier were incredibly gracious, kind, and caring hosts. The were very quick to respond to my inquiries ahead of our travels, they helped coordinate our transportation to their homestay, and made sure we felt comfortable and at ease throughout our stay. Our room had everything we could need plus more, and the terrace had picture perfect views of Trinidad. Very close walking distance to Plaza Mayor and so many delicious restaurants. I cannot recommend them enough!

Very nice place to stay. Apart from great location and good cleanliness, the extremely helpful staff (Alex,Maria) needs to be mentioned. We stayed there for 3nights and would do the same again when we might come back to Havana

A cozy place, it is like being at home but with the comfort of a hotel. The cleanliness, the food, and the services, unbeatable. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The location is ideal for getting to know the old and new part of the city. I loved it. I would always return

We loved Hostal Lola. It was beautiful - particularly the courtyard where we ate breakfast. Rooms are clean and quirky (in a good way). But what makes this place is the people who run it. They are so kind and helpful. They speak good English and are genuinely interested in your welfare. Thank you!!

We were recommended this place by our host form Santiago. Did not disappoint. Javier and Katia are one of the good ones. They have a beautiful home, one of the best houses we stayed at in comparison to others in the variety of cities we visited in Cuba. Their house is a few minutes walk from the city center close to everything from a currency exchange office, police station, to even an international pharmacy just two blocks up the street. The rooms are spacious, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, running heated water, working air conditioning system. Katia cooks the best breakfast. Javier is a good source of information for any questions you have locally or even about other cities in Cuba. He helped us with contacts and setting up our places to stay in the other cities we were heading to after Santa Clara. When we come back to Cuba, will definitively stay here again.Javier, Katia, and their son Jonathan are wonderful hosts.

GETTING TO OUR HOUSE: We are just 300m from Céspedes park, an easy location, but if the tourist wants, or is lost can contact us and is immediately pick up wherever he or she also it can be requested from its arrival place in advanced.
I was at this hostel for about 10 days. It was such a great place to stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was 5 CUC, which is not bad for the food they gave you (which was always amazing). The woman who owned the hostel was very nice. It was a delight to stay there. There is also a little rooftop area that has an amazing view of the city. There is free wifi at the hostel but it isn't always working because she has to refill the account so be patient with that:). I highly recommend this place.

Family run business, instantly felt at home. Got upgraded to master suite because it was not being used which made our stay super comfortable. There was private terrace, chairs to relax and admire the sky. I recommend having breakfast ($5 USD)and dinner ($10 USD) at this place because is excellent! and bring batteries because at the moment we rented the room the safe was not functional due to the lack of batteries, but they gave us a key, so it work out. Also there was no hair dryer in the room but they lend us theirs. Keep in mind that in Cuba things are not easy to get so be mindful of everything when you borrow stuff. Had an excellent time and is near the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.
