No matter where you're traveling from, it's definitely worth a drive to the little town of Crosby, TX (25 miles northeast of downtown Houston) for hands-down the best crawfish you can find outside of Louisiana! The crawfish are select-grade from Louisiana, and prepared perfectly flavorful in mild, medium, spicy, and more spicy pots. You can also get boiled shrimp and crab, equally delicious. It's nice they allow BYOB, but there's also a drive-through option if you don't want to eat inside. (On & off-site catering also available.)
Here's my advise to make it a fun trip--grab some friends (be sure you include someone who's never tried crawfish before--this is a GREAT place to introduce a newbie!) and go for an early weekday dinner (it's less crowded then), take an ice chest packed with your favorite beer or wine, sit at a picnic table inside the open-air, covered dining area while listening to the great music they play, and start peeling and eating! If the kids finish eating early (this is definitely a family-friendly destination) and need to run off some energy, there's a great playground on site in full view of the dining area. Kick back and relax, but be aware of how long the line becomes--you don't want to make others wait too terribly long for their own uniquely fun experience!

P.S. Due to seasonality of crawfish, not open year-round. Call ahead if you want to check current prices, or visit the Crosby Crawfish Shack website.

Love this place to meet with friends! Small amount of seating, but still wonderful service! Love spending Saturday mornings here!

I've never ventured away from the turtle pecan blizzard. If it wasn't calorie packed, I swear I could eat one every single day.

I've eaten here many times and I have never been disappointed. Sliced brisket is smoky and tender. The portions are enormous! Baked potatoes are cooked just right and full of the toppings you ask for.

Why the ? mark. Because hardly anyone would expect to find a quaint cafe with a relaxed atmosphere that serves delicious Japanese/Chinese cuisine in a locale that is better known for its burgers and Mexican food. Aptly named, Charming Cafe is set on the end of a strip mall, just behind Applebee's stand-alone restaurant. The waitstaff is efficient, the language barrier small, the sushi fresh. Sit at the bar and watch the Chefs work, or relax at one of the dining tables or booths. Hot green tea, not from bags but loose leaves, is served traditional style. The shrimp fried rice has large shrimp--not chunks--and is underscored with sesame seed oil. And the Shaggy Dog. HUGE! Sharing not required, but encouraged. The only drawbacks--soft drinks are served in the can and charged by the can, so refills can rival the cost of dinner, and the teriyaki salmon should not only be left alone, it shouldn't be on the menu. The menu is wide and diverse, so not choosing that dish isn't an issue. Nice selection for lunch menu at reduced prices. The Chefs prefer sports on the tv over the bar, but will change the channel without complaint if you ask. And, no one will encourage you to leave, so if you come here stressed, expect to spend some time and leave relaxed, and quite sated.

We live in Crosby but hadn't tried this restaurant before. I was under the impression it was just a crawfish place. I was wrong. I had grilled fish and my husband had a chicken dish. We enjoyed both. I'd eat here again.

The food is good and authentic. The atmosphere is good, and the staff is very helpful and polite. My favorite is the enchiladas, although I think every dish I've had there was good.
