Standing in over 30 acres of peaceful, secluded grounds on the edge of the Cotswolds, the privately-owned Cricklade House offers a traditional, warm and friendly welcome for those in search of tranquility, comfort, good food and wine, with extensive recreational facilities.
This place has gone downhill. Having enjoyed several overnight stays over the years for functions, this time was really disappointing. The function itself was enjoyable and the food really good but the room was in need of complete redecorating. It smelled damp on entering, there was mould around the windows and on the walls in places. Cobwebs in the corners and generally grubby. The ‘king size’ bed was 2 singles pushed together making an uncomfortable ridge down the middle. The breakfast was also disappointing as we have always enjoyed a full English on previous stays, but there was only self serve continental this time. We also had to ask for tea & coffee after having been seated for at least 10 mins. Before it was always offered immediately on being seated. The worst thing, however is that having emailed our concerns twice over 2 weeks to the venue, we have had no acknowledgment or reply. (The website states that they will respond in the same day!) We were really looking forward to a mini-break combined with the function that we were attending, but it was just an expensive alternative to a taxi!

If you’re looking for a charming inn in Cricklade, look no further than The Red Lion Inn. Rooms at The Red Lion Hotel provide a flat screen TV, and guests can stay connected with free wifi. You can also enjoy an on-site restaurant while staying at The Red Lion Hotel. While in Cricklade be sure to experience nearby Thai restaurants such as Jicsaw Thai Restaurant. There is no shortage of things to do in the area, and there are several great attractions that are within walking distance of The Red Lion Hotel, including St Sampson Parish Church (0.2 mi) and St Mary's Catholic Church (0.0 mi). The staff at The Red Lion Inn looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit.
3 of us ate at the Red Lion on Saturday. The pub is great, the food was amazing - really generous portions and completely delicious - and the service was brilliant too. The Element (which I think is brewed onsite) is really good too! Will definitely visit again if we’re ever in the area. Double thumbs up!

Situated on the threshold of the Cotswolds, the Saxon Town of Cricklade provides a tranquil and picturesque setting for rest and relaxation. For visitors seeking an alternative to the bland uniformity of many a modern town centre hotel, The White Hart offers an appealing individuality - open fires, beamed ceilings and stone flagged floors set the scene for a relaxing experience. Dating from the 17th century, the White Hart has proven to be a popular retreat for those appreciating good food, fine wine, real ales and comfortable cottage-style accommodation. On arrival, why not sample some of the real ales or fine wines available in the comfort of our warm and friendly bar and lounge? For a tasty snack or full meal, we provide a wide range of excellent traditional and modern dishes
Stayed for two nights and loved every minute. The hotel is very old but, because of that, it is quite quirky; floors are uneven and the plumbing seem to be quite archaic but that just added to the atmosphere. Excellent welcome on arrival and all staff were both pleasant and helpful throughout. Our room was clean, comfortable and more than adequate for our stay. Good breakfast which was both comprehensive and very filling. We dined there on one night and there was a good choice of reasonably priced meals which were well cooked and very tasty. Excellent selection of local beers We would have no hesitation in staying there again.

A delightful hotel on the southern edge of the beautiful Cotswolds, close to the Cotswold Water Parks and the famous Thames Path. Sat in the heart of historical Cricklade, the first town on the Thames.
Just spent two nights at the Vale Hotel, a perfect place to stay so we could visit the wildlife park and hire a river boat for the day. We had two rooms and they were both excellent, lovely and clean, beautifully decorated with very comfortable beds and fabulous showers. I'm not sure if it was because of the Jubilee bank holiday but there wasn't any breakfast on the Thursday morning (we didn't check to see if there was on the Friday) The Spanish Tapas restaurant was absolutely delicious. Would definitely stay here again :)

We booked the triple room room which had lots of floorspace and was very roomy indeed. Excellent shower and nice toiletries. Big mugs for making tea, and some tasty biscuits. Lovely linen and comfy beds made for a good night's sleep - just wished I had noticed the black-out blind in time to use it! Shame there was no breakfast but Tesco is over the road so you can get your continental breakfast from there so it was no big deal. Staff (and the locals in the pub below) were friendy.
