Reviews on Steakhouse food in Chania Town, Crete, Greece. Much of the old town district of Chania was developed around its harbor, which was built by the Venetians during the 14th century. Its lighthouse still proudly overlooks the Mediterranean. Here you’ll find several cinemas and historical attractions like the Archaeological Museum, a collection of Minoan and Roman artifacts that’s housed in the former Monastery of Saint Francis. Word nerds will especially enjoy the Museum of Typography.

BEHIND THE TOWN HALL 100 METERS FROM THE BUS STATION Traditional Cretan and Mediterranean food
We found this hidden gem through Trip Advisor. A small restaurant of the beaten path. Didnt look incredible, a small old looking tavern. For a a moment the friendly couple with us considered not entering.Thank god we actually did. From the beginning the staff was friendly, you could see this is a family restaurant. The menu was quite big with a lot of options mainly in cooked food but also with roasted meats. We ordered 4 main dishes and 2 starters. Everything was original, full of taste and in big portions. We all agreed that it made is think that our yiayia(grandma in Greek) had just cooked her best food for us. Every bite exploded in my mouth with taste and family memories. To top the excellent food, the cook who is the father of the family came to our table and had a beautiful conversation with us with the company of Cretan raki! What can i say, one of the best meals we had in Chania and only thing that made me sad is the fact that the place wasnt busy when we visitied. It should be packed full with customers!!

Menu in English and Greek. Still a little confusing until you realize there are only a few dishes with a different choice of fillings. We had beef in pitta (hot wraps) which were great. Very limited seating and self service. Great for a light lunch, good prices.

Beautiful, stylish restaurant built on the old Kastelli wall in the wonderful, picturesque Venetian harbour of Chania. Established in 1993, Kariatis enjoys an excellent reputation for top quality food and service with an impressive menu created and served
Excellent atmosphere, very underwhelming food. Perhaps if you spend more the dishes are better. I got a chicken salad (when it says âserves 2â they MEAN it!), and my husband got margarita pizza & red wine. We were hoping for more from the pizza crust, looked much better in photos. Neither dish was very flavorful. The salad was just OK. Dressing was on the heavy side and didnât settle well. If youâre looking for an upscale dining feel for an affordable price (and not so upscale food) this place is for you. If youâre looking for a good quality traditional taste of Crete, look elsewhere.

This family business runs for over sixty years now (you meet three generations), in the style we, Greeks, call âButchers Tavernâ. That means you come, choose the meat you want from the butchers department and have it grilled in charcoals. Using traditiona
Simply the best steak Iâve ever had. medium is perfect. Well worth diverting to the suburbs. The owners amazing and the fried crisps are perfect. The bosses home brewed moonshine wine is absolutely lethal Thank you for your feedback...!
