It is located 77 km south of Chania, on the southwest coast of Crete and occupies a small peninsula 400m wide and 700m long. The town is set along 11 km of coastline bordering the Libyan Sea. It is the seat of the municipality of Kantanos–Selino and its population was 1,675 in the 2011 census.

Staying at the beach a whole day long and having very kind people and very good service around - this describes a perfect day. This taverna offers simple local food at very convenient price in a friendly atmosphere. You may enjoy typical Greek starters and grills as well traditional recipes, together with a rich choice of fresh salads. Everything is prepared with care and served with a smile. The restaurant is in front of the Paleochora pebble beach, in a quiet area, few hundreds meters from the noise of the other restaurants by the port. The view is wonderful. If you try it, likely you will come back the next day.

Best food I had in Paleochora. They told me all the fresh fish had sold out and recommended a slow-cooked beef stew with juniper berries which was absolutely delicious. And itâs on the sea front with beautiful views. Very much recommended. Ask for whatâs good and fresh.

The Veggera Cafe is much more than a simple cafe. It provides beach sun-beds and umbrellas, beachside food and drinks service, excellent lunches (especially their salads!) and fantastic cocktails which you can drink while soaking in the beautiful sunset. The staff were very friendly and could not have helped more. It is situated on the sandy beach in the middle of town. It was fantastic and really helped us have a memorable holiday.

Nice location overlooking sea/rocks away from main area of restaurants.Itâs one of the bigger places and to us lacks the homely/family feel of some of the other tavernas.The food and the service are fine but prefer the atmosphere in some of the other tavernas.

Houmas is a restaurant with excellent greek food and good and friendly service.You can get several special dishes. All well prepared.Houmas is located in the idyllic Grammeno bay, and there is only 25 metres distance to a little sand-beach with sunbeds and sunshades and crystal-clear water.From the restaurant there is a wonderful view over the beach and the sea.We came to lunch and beach about 10 times in our Paleochora-holiday.

Two couples from Canadaâ. The appetizers were very generous Appetizers were over the moon in flavour and presentation. The Mille feuille was outrageously delicious. Service was very fast. The mains we had didnât have the flavour that the mains had. If you are a foodie this is the place for you.
