Flavour of India is a proud restaurant institution in Sydney, often referred to as the best Indian restaurant in Sydney - our menu captures flavours and cooking styles from every corner of the beautiful continent that is India.
Tripadvisor community, you've failed me for the first time.
# 2 (out of 2000) in all of Sydney in the moderately priced category? You can do better.
Context: 7 Keralite Indians looking forward to a delicious last meal in Sydney but was deeply disappointed.
Service: Hard to enjoy when the staff seem angry and snapping at each other.
Food: Why did the chicken Tikka masala have curry leaf in it but the dishes that are supposed to have it not have any?
We ordered the chicken Tikka masala, butter chicken, Kerala beef, green curry fish, and special Dahl.
I have to be honest: none of the dishes met my expectation for the #2 restaurant in Sydney (out of 2000 ). I wouldn't have placed it even in the top 500.

Getting off the bus after a walk around Cremorne Point, we looked to the right saw a buzzy restaurant, and thought let’s book a table for the following evening. It’s hard to describe the food as it is so eclectic, a mix of African, Indian, Mediterranean and who knows where else so it’s worth checking out the menu.
We chose the ‘prix fixe ‘ menu which at $44Aus is a bargain. Think tapas style. Every plate was beautifully cooked with multilayered flavours.Eight plates of food for four people each plus appetisers is more than enough for anyone. The house wines are to be recommended.
We booked a table at 8pm. It was heaving at the time and remained so until we left. The staff were helpful and the service good. I’m sure we will go again before we leave Sydney for home.

Sails on Lavender Bay is perched on the shore of Sydney’s magnificent harbour with post card views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. It is the perfect venue for those wanting to experience the quintessential beauty of the city. Sails on Lavender Bay is accessible by either ferry, private boat or car. The menu is original and extensive - reflecting the seasons and freshness of the local produce. The menu offers what can be described as “refined modern Australian”, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. The award winning wine list comprises of over 130 Australian and International wine varietals that have been sourced and compiled by our sommelier.
We had a meal not long after new year with two friends from Sydney and were very much looking forward to noshing our way through the Tasting Menu with accompanying recommended wines (7 courses if my memory serves me right).
The food on every plate was extremely good and beautifully presented. Tasting menus are by definition small amounts but the range of tastes and textures served up were stunning and the discussion around the table about each course lasted all evening. The service was very professional as befit the location and price and the wines were well chosen, though also served in "tasting" amounts which was a little frustrating when you get one that really fits your palate.
The visit was expensive but the whole package (location, ambiance, excellent service, food, presentation and wine) made the occasion very memorable, so much so that if I were in Sydney again and wanted to impress - this is where Id come.

Welcome to La Renaissance! We are one of Sydney's oldest family-owned French patisseries, and the first in the Southern Hemisphere to be awarded the prestigious Relais Desserts status with our head chef and co-owner Jean Michel Raynaud. Each morning we serving fresh buttery pastries, hot coffee & tea, juice, savouries and cakes every day. A great place to recharge and relax if you're new to Sydney and exploring Circular Quay and The Rocks, or a favourite for locals. Our best-selling items include almond croissants and the Monet, a white chocolate mousse cake with lychee jelly, raspberries and coconut base. Cult favourite, the ham and cheese croissant, sells out daily as well, with a shredded ham & cheese bechamel inside and on top of the croissant. Baked until crisp but still a little soft inside... we say yes please!
Walking back to our hotel after our ferry from Manly docked at Circular Quay, we diverted off George Street, and walked up Argyle. So glad we did, as in our exploration of the Rocks had shown, there is always another surprise....this time one of the best bun shops in the world. Having chosen our sweet and savoury snacks we sat in the shade of the rear garden, enjoying our snacks, and flat white coffee and tea served in a strainer. Lush!

Had a beautiful Sparkling High Tea here today with my friends. This is a lovely historical venue and view of the harbour and would be great to take interstate or overseas visitors to for a treat.(Kookaburras laughing and watching in!)
The service was friendly and unobtrusive. The food was delicious and plentiful. A little tip... go at midday and have high tea, so much food no need for lunch; a tea menu, savouries, yummy finger sandwiches, scones and a 3 tier cake plate full of sweet offerings. Be prepared though to park and walk down a steep stairway and drive. There is disabled parking down at the entrance or you can drop off the elderly etc. and then park.

Entertained Arizonan friends visiting on Silversea. As the day overcast and blustery we decided to forsake the Cross Harbour Ferry F4 to Rose Bay and lunch nearby and elected for Balmoral. Popular choice for our friends they loved the ambience and minimalist design. The service wonderful, certainly a giant step up from previous day at Palm Beach Boathouse. Shared a great tender fried calamari, just enough for taste before the mains. All mains excellent, the market fish of NZ trevalla, very moist and delicious as were the crab tagliatelle and beer battered flathead and massive chips.
Our picky US freinds very impressed

I have been going to this restaurant on and off for about 4 years and it never disappoints. The food is fantastic, a big step up from your average Thai. The decor is incredibly well done as well and gives a relaxing vibe.
We have a few favourites on the menu but are always keen on the specials....some of which we hope make it onto the main menu.
The restaurant is at the top of Rangers rd opposite woollies so is quiet compared to restaurants on Military rd.
In addition, they have a great wine list, also unusual for a Thai restaurant.

Set within a beautiful heritage dining room with soaring white columns and luxurious accoutrements, est. delivers dining on a grand scale. Executive head chef Peter Doyle is renowned for his trademark contemporary Australian food, which is uncluttered, seasonally driven and executed with French-influenced precision. Supporting Peter is Jacob Davey, whom was hand picked for the distinguished est. team after winning the Young Australian Chef of the Year at the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Award in 2013. Add award winning service and an acclaimed wine list personally selected by Franck Moreau MS, and you just know est. is going to be a dining experience not to be missed and long remembered.
We were welcomed into the amazing space by each member of a team looking after our table and we felt comfortable (and impressed) from the moment we walked in. The sommelier and waiters knew their stuff and gave excellent recommendations with patience and a sense of humour. We chose each course from the Chef's menu and were not disappointed with any of our selections. The atmosphere and experience in general (on top of the fact that we were celebrating a business milestone) made for a perfect and memorable evening. Would recommend for anyone looking for a special dining experience in Sydney. Booking online was easy too.
