The Bear has origins as far back as the 12th Century, but it's best known as the inn where they changed the horses on the mail run from Cardiff to Swansea. This famous Coaching Inn is steeped in history. Nowadays, this privately owned 3 star hotel is famed for its fine home-cooked food, friendly atmosphere and really good ale. During the 18th Century, Napoleon's troops were held in the 'Bear Pit' en route to London after a failed invasion at Fishguard! The Bear rests in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, surrounded by beautiful rural hills. The Brecon Beacons and the Welsh Valleys are close by, with breathtaking views. Some of the Valleys still have the mining houses visible as you drive through. The hotel is on the main high street of the historic town of Cowbridge. This chic market town boasts some fabulous boutique shops, lingering walks around the Roman wall and some of the most beautiful town-houses.
Went out for a family meal all food was excellent and all staff were helpful and friendly they couldn't do enough for us. We didn't feel rushed and they gave us enough time to chat and drink wine afterwards to enjoy the atmosphere. Will definitely be returning again very soon. Thank you.

Just 3 minutes' drive from the market town of Cowbridge, Glyndwr Vineyard offers a charming bed and breakfast and Self Catering retreat in South Wales. Overlooking ponds and surrounded by lawns, wild flowers and a 6-acre vineyard, this self-contained cottage has free parking on site, as well as some friendly llamas, chickens and ducks. There are two individual bedrooms, one twin and one double, both with their own ensuite bathrooms and kitchenette. The cottage in its secluded location, is a short stroll from the flower laden village pub and three minutes drive from the historic market town of Cowbridge with its many cafes, restaurants and shops. Only 20 minutes' drive from the centre of Cardiff.
Excellent customer service, cuisine and wine!!! Great Welsh hospitality! I’m definitely coming back!!!! I visited as part of a Trafalgar tour “be my guest” experience. I live in a place surrounded by vineyards in the USA but I absolutely love it here and the hospitality was lovely.

We stayed in room 1 and found it extremely comfortable. The bed was a good size and everything was extremely clean and tidy. Amenities were excellent - with a selection of tea, coffee and biscuits, an iron and ironing board, spare bedding and pleasant smelling toiletries in the bathroom which had a great power shower. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Nestling within 2000 acres of Penllyn Estate Farm, and ten minutes’ walk of the historic town of Cowbridge with its array of pubs, restaurants and fantastic boutiques and beautiful beaches nearby, Cowbridge Cabins enjoys a fantastic location. There are six cabins to choose from; one family and five double rooms - basic but with all mod cons as well as secure and homely and at very affordable price.
Nice size rooms but why not even one chair!! Second visit still nothing to sit on except the bed. Otherwise fairly clean and pleasant warm room. Showers been good but this time 20 seconds in ran cold. This is not acceptable

Self Catering : not B&B . Does not include breakfast. John and Sian invite you to relax in Holiday Cottages converted from the farm buildings adjacent to their 15th-century farmhouse in the rural Vale of Glamorgan. The Cottages have a fitted Kitchen with cooker , microwave and fridge as well as a washer /dryer. They have a tv with DVD .Moorshead Cottages are 3 miles from the market town of Cowbridge and 3 miles from the coast. A short walk takes you to the village of Sigingstone and the Victoria pub, one of many places to eat in the area. The nearby heritage coast offers good walking and the lanes around Moorshead are peaceful and charming. Half an hour's drive and you can be in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales.
We stayed for Six nights with our Welsh Springer Spaniel. Stone cottage. Compact but adequate space. Second bedroom with bunk beds. Used the wood burning stove but quite warm anyway. Everything worked. Space for car outside front door. Small, fenced, lawned back garden - ideal for letting the dog out. Friendly but unobtrusive hosts live on site. Waitrose Tesco etc a couple of miles away in Cowbridge. Victoria Pub within walking distance and dog friendly

Visited here with my sister when she came down this weekend. We went on a whim off the back of a recommendation from a friend. This place is an absolute hidden gem, so pleased we decided to visit. A wide range of animals, beautiful scenes and kind, considerate staff. The animals are happy and very engaging but given enough space to breathe/ get away from guests. Price is unbeatable. Lovely food and drink from the cafe at a reasonable price which usually isn't the case on days out like this. Would 100% recommend, give it a go ??
