Donegal Town is a fairytale of a place, featuring a charming harbor, serene beaches and stoic stone remains of centuries past, like those of 15th-century Donegal Abbey. Stern-looking Donegal Castle, recently restored to its one-time Gaelic glory, is the crown jewel of the area. If you’re looking for souvenirs, snag a hand-woven tweed or carpet, the signature goods of the area. For a good craic, the pubs of The Diamond area are a sure bet.

We love this restuarant but were a bit disappointed today in the Sunday Lunch. It is advertised at 25 euro but any of the interesting items on the menu have a £5 surcharge ( starters included) which in reality can make the lunch 35 euro or more. We paid the supplement for the small monkfish and prawn starter which was delicious but 3 small prawns and 3 morsels of monkfish in garlic butter for 5 euro extra ! The steak on Main course was also 5 extra and was quite tough and tastless. Dessert of Lemon cheesecake was unremarkable . Nice flavours great service but not worth what they are charging sorry wont be back for Sunday lunch. We saw another couple actually leave when they read the menu

Right across the street from Donegal Castle. So after hiking the stairs in the castle we were hungry and thirsty. It was around 2:30 pm, but they were still crowded. Waitress was a bit gruff (maybe she was having a bad day), but food and drink came quickly and was very good. I liked the fish and chips, and the drinks were cold. It is a charming place, the decor is interesting. Good spot for lunch

Took the Mrs and Parents for a meal here over Christmas. After 5 weeks at home and eating out most nights, this was easily one if not the best meal of the trip.Between us all we had, hake, salmon, chowder, goat cheese salad.etc Salmon tasted amazing, very wild tasting.Even the hake was excellent which Iâve never had much luck with in the past, always a bland tasting fish.Looking forward to the summer visit now, so can sit outside n enjoy the surroundings.Pretty good Guinness too.Certain non Irish members of staff could use a little Donegal friendliness

Quay West is one of the best meals that I've had, full stop. There is nothing critical that I can say about the experience. The restaurant is beautiful, clean and well-decorated. The food was delicious with really fresh seafood - make sure to try their unique ice cream sundaes as well! The best part of the experience, though, was the staff. We had the opportunity to chat with one of the co-owners, Jo, who was welcoming, kind and generous and made us feel right at home. Plus, she knows a good bottle of poitin!
