The city of New London, Connecticut, has been an important port since the Revolutionary War, when it served as a base for American privateers raiding British Ships. In the 19th century, the revenues brought into the city by whalers helped build what now forms the city's charming center, filled with historic homes, taverns and shops. The masts of tall ships can still be seen passing through the harbor, the home of Coast Guard ships and the site of the annual Sailfest summer celebration.

On our way back to Massachusetts our group of nine was desperately searching for some authentic Mexican tacos. We were skeptical when we saw the previous review that claimed this restaurant had the best Mexican food in New London so we had to try it. We were not disappointed, our group couldnât stop raving about how flavorful the meat was in both the tacos and fajitas. The carne asada, the sopas, were also delicious. The service was fantastic and the food came incredibly fast which was very appreciated because we were starving. Our group is already making plans to make the two and a half hour drive to return and try other menu items because the other options looked just as appealing.

I have had noting but bad experiences with this Taco Bell, yet I continue to go back. Today's experience was just as horrible as the others. Menu says one price, cash register says another. When I bring it to the attention of the Cashier, I get a lecture on how the Corporate policy and sales promotions differ from that of the franchise...but the menu clearly displayed a price lower than what I was charged. OK, for a .50 cent difference who really cares but I did say "...you may want to remove that sign as it is incorrect and leads to confusion". It was at that point that I was read the riot act and told, "...yes, I will go ahead and do that just for you". Seriously? Just for me? No one else has noticed the difference in the price, just me??? Anyway, the service is truly off here and never gets any better. If you are truly craving Taco Bell, it is worth the few extra minutes to drive to Groton.

My brother and I along with our wives get together monthly and eat out at restaurants in proximity to Mystic, CT. Brother's turn to pick, he chose Chili's Grill and Bar conveniently located just off I-95 after crossing the Thames River into New London, CT. GREAT CHOICE! Our server, Jen, was very efficient and cordial. Everyone except me ordered the grass fed beef burger with fries; I opted for the Ancho Salmon with broccoli and rice plus side of house salad. The burgers were cooked to order and very satisfying; my salmon was amazing. Jen checked on us several times to insure all was well and replenish water glasses. All in all, a very pleasant eating experience conducive to conversation.

While there are a number of Mexican restaurants in Groton this is not one I am likely to return to. This restaurant is lacking in taste, both in the food and also the décor
