Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Hartford. From its origins as a Connecticut River trading post in 1633, Hartford has become not only the state capital but also the insurance capital of the world, with a slew of historical attractions, a thriving arts and entertainment center, a revitalized riverfront and beautiful parks and public gardens. It was here that the lovable Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer were born in the imagination of celebrated author Mark Twain and immortalized on paper during the writer's Hartford years. Twain's home and those of fellow literary figures Harriet Beecher Stowe and Noah Webster are open to the public. The Wadsworth Atheneum, the oldest public art museum in the U.S., houses Pilgrim-Century furniture, the Amistad collection and a special treasure hunt system to entice kids to explore the museum's works. If your timing is right (end of June, beginning of July), you'll catch the Elizabeth Park rose gardens in bloom, but fall is also great for brilliant leaf colors, and spring yields colorful gardens and blossoming trees. For a bird's-eye view of the city, visit the observation deck of Travelers Tower, where you might also spot two resident falcons.

Very inviting restaurant. Makes you feel like you are in one of those little jazz clubs in New York. This was Sunday afternoon and there was a trio (not exactly sure of the number as I didnât see them all) playing beautiful blues that was so perfect to hear in the background.Very nice selection of items on the menu. Servings are plentiful and delicious. Service was very good but not crazy with the busboyâs pants a little to low for working in a restaurant. Now is the time to teach them proper attire if they want to be in the workforce. But canât complain of their good attention and service.Couldnât sit outside as there are renovations going on but still, so happy to even get a seat. For a Sunday afternoon the restaurant was pretty busy. This was my second time here and I was looking very foreword to returning and was not disappointed. Looking forward to returning many more times.

My wife and I used to come here every other weekend for brunch. It was by far our favorite place and one we recommended to many friends for brunch. Within the last year though they completely changed the menu and not for the better. When we asked we were told there was a new head chef. There are mostly only lunch items now, the home fries are terrible, and they don't offer the green eggs and ham sandwich and the birds in a nest meal has also changed. The atmosphere is still great but if you're a foodie then I'd sadly recommend elsewhere for brunch. Why fix what's not broken? Hi Mike, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that our food has missed the mark on your last few visits. We did make some changes to try to keep things fresh, but we do take guest feedback very seriously. We'll discuss your comments with our kitchen staff in the hope of making some improvements. We hope that you'll consider visiting us again. -Roobi

I stayed multiple times at the Marriott in this past year now and one of the big reasons to stay at the Marriott is the L Bar, particularly the staff. Cassie and Sarah are very friendly and caring. They know exactly what I want and go out of their way to cater to my needs. The food and drink collection at L bar is very good with lots of vegetarian options. Highly recommend this place for the food, drinks, ambience and above all, the amazing staff.Thank for your kind words. We feel fortunate to have associates like Sarah and Cassie who take such great care of our guests. We look forward to seeing you again soon.Fabio Pari Di MonrivaGeneral Manager

A gastropub nestled between Hartford's Bushnell Park, and Front Street District just south of the downtown area. Recognized as Hartford's Best NEW Restaurant in 2017 and awarded for it's ambiance.
Loved my first meal at the Republic! Walking in, you immediately feel like you're in a warm, friendly place. Interior is cool and funky, staff very friendly, and the food was delicious. Very chill vibe, nice to just sit and relax over a nice lunch, and be left alone by the staff, but not forgotten. I highly recommend trying out Republic for a sublime dining experience.

Stopped in here on a quiet Sunday for lunch and was really surprised. I had an absolutely incredible Public House burger that was just what a burger should be. No frozen preformed patties here. This was a fresh, hand formed prime example of a medium rare masterpiece of meat. Their fries were good and the Guinness poured just right. Highly recommend.

On a holiday weekend, the restaurant was relatively empty at dinner, but the staff seated everyone together in the front room and took good care of us. We appreciated their recommendations about the menu. Both cocktails and food were very good. We particularly enjoyed the shisito pepper appetizer, the short rib meatloaf, and the key lime pie. The ambiance is very pleasant. Not sure how noisy the restaurant would be if it was busy.

The dining room was dark, but the service and food were fine; while I wouldn't rave about it, there was nothing negative about the experience. The salads were huge, and the burger was good. Parking is always a challenge in Hartford, unless you don't mind parking in a garage.Thank you so much for the great review! We are so happy you enjoyed our genuine hospitality and made-from-scratch food. We have over 20 gourmet burgers so you have to come back to try them ALL! City Stream Brewery was an amazing place to have dinner. I had gluten free Mac and cheese which was amazing and my colleagues had burgers, which they said were equally good. The beer menu is decent and the downeast cider they have is delicious. Definitely would eat here again.

The food and service once we were seated was awesome. The salsa was great. They did a great job making a vegan friendly meal. We were there for the ninja warrior competition and they were all kinds of bizarre dietary request that they accommodated. My only criticism is that getting a seat which is way too difficult. We stood there in the way but people walking past itâs not looking at us. We felt kind of awkward
