As one of the top rated restaurants in New Haven I had high expectations for Heirloom and the disappointed. The restaurant is modern chrome and glass and sits on the edge of Yale University. They were not busy when we arrived and we were seated and drink orders taken quickly. Food preparation was slow so come prepared to wait. The baked Jonah crab was spicy with no crab flavour - unpleasant. The smoked Maine trout was excellent, the hit of the night. My daughter had pasta and enjoyed it. My branzino was 3 small over cooked fillets with no sauce and no flavour. My wifeâs chicken was dry and nothing special.Donât be mislead by their on-line menu, there were only 6-8 entrees offered the night we dined.Frankly, no reason to go back. Bill was $155 for 3 before tip with 2 glasses of wine, one beer and no dessert.

From the name of the restaurant, I was thinking it was a steak place, but I was happy to find plenty of vegetarian options. The waitress was friendly, and the cocktails and food were very tasty and satisfying. I enjoyed the quirky decor and ambiance. They had a great beer menu with lots of local options.

Popped into Claireâs for a quick bite of lunch before taking a campus tour. There were plenty of options and we each had something different - however our younger teenage son was not too impressed with the vegetarian burger!Great atmosphere and plenty of tables, with customer toilets on site.

My first visit to CCBG. It won't be my last. Firstly, shout out to Aimee, my server. She's incredibly personable, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. First up, seafood chowder. Delicious broth and chunky pieces of seafood. Next, half order of nachos. Delicious but really, really messy. The half order would easily feed 3 people. Last, lobster BLT. This was my least favorite course, which shocked me. I'm all about the lobster, but this lobster salad left me wanting. The flavor just wasn't there. The sandwich was constructed well, though. All that food and the bill was under $30. That works. I'll be back.

Average breakfast (variety, ingredients, preparation, presentation and taste) with average service at average value near main Yale campus. Would I dine here again? Probably not. Would I recommend it to others? Yes, if you want something more substantial than Starbucks (nearby) but don't want to walk around for other places.

An early dinner on a Tuesday night turned into a delightful surprise.Diverse menu with many vegan and vegetarian options made my wife happy while I had full run of the usual burgers and steaks. Large portions, quick and friendly service, reasonable prices and warm, inviting interior made for a nice evening.

Zinc is an excellent restaurant in downtown New Haven. It changes in its menu often. The reason it changes is because itâs a farm fresh to table restaurant so they use what is in season. During the summer they have a fixed menu which makes it a little more reasonable for people to go. Anytime you go is excellent

If you go to Bellaâs for breakfast on a Sunday morning, expect to wait. The place recalls Yogi Berraâs famous quip about Toots Shorâs Restaurant in Manhattan: âNobody goes there anymore. Itâs too crowded.â When you get inside, itâs a fairly safe bet youâll also feel a little cramped. But nobody who goes to Bellaâs goes to be seated quickly or to dine in the lap of luxury. Everybody who goes there goes for the food.It doesnât matter what you order. Itâll be great, and youâll leave stuffed. The coffee is so good, I asked our waitress what it was. She told us itâs Jimâs Costa Rican blend. I donât know who Jim is, but he knows his way around a cup oâ Joe. And Bellaâs knows its way around a killer breakfast.

If you are driving on the Merit and need a quality quick bite to eat, check out Katz's Deli. They deliver quality food with generous portions. The staff is familiar with the menu, makes honest recommendations, and is attentive. The menu is dynamic yet traditional.
