Reviewed By perthsaintOur second stay at Salamandra Plaza. This time we stayed in El Cielo on the top floor. Lovely apartment with a small kitchen area with it's own terrace. Also have access directly to the main roof top terrace which is shared with the rest of the apartments. Breakfast can be taken at any of the 3 restaurants in the square or another close by.

Charming, well-appointed B&B in an attractive village
Reviewed By OtyikondoThis is a delightful B&B in an attractive Andalusian "white village" that is probably unfairly overshadowed by nearby Frigiliana. The hosts are very professional (communications were excellent and very prompt) and yet cordial and relaxed; just the right combination. The accommodation - we were in the Loft, but we peeked into the other rooms - is clean, well-appointed and tastefully decorated, with comfortable bed, decent bathroom lighting, and so on. There is a lovely roof-top terrace, too. Quite a lot of stairs to negotiate, if this is an issue. Breakfast was fine, in a pretty downstairs room with a fireplace. Pancakes on the first morning were an unexpected treat. The location is ideal, although parking close by is a bit difficult (if carrying heavy stuff, probably best to come and drop it off quickly before going down to the main parking area), and Cómpeta itself looks like it could be a good base for hiking, with several attractive trails around. In sum, Al Campanario ticked all our boxes for a two-night stay, and we would have no hesitation in recommending Willy & Annemie as perfect hosts. Even the restaurant suggestions - not always a given - were right on the ball on this occasion. Strongly recommended.

The bed good quality and although the hotel is near the main square we were not disturbed by noise and had amazing nights of sleep. The breakfasts were superb. Each day we had something different, inventive, creatively served and delicious. Nothing was too much trouble, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Tranquil property with friendly hosts
Reviewed By Renzo CNice B&B with only 4 bedrooms managed by a friendly Belgian couple (Frank and An). Beautiful house on the outskirts of Competa with 2 terraces, covered swimming pool and a Jacuzzi overlooking the valley. The place has a homey and friendly atmosphere with many interesting decorative touches; it has two large lounge areas where you can sit, play pool, darts, read one of the many books available in different languages, play society games (also available) or simply watch TV. Breakfast is served in the lower lounge or on the terrace, with freshly squeezed orange juice, local cheese, home baked bread and eggs cooked on order. Parking available inside the courtyard. We enjoyed our stay and especially the friendliness of the hosts. If you intend to walk into the center of the small town the distance is over 1 km with a very STEEP hill on the way back.

La Madrugada is a small B&B only 2,6 km outside Cómpeta. It offers all the tranquillity of the countryside with spectacular views on both the Maroma and the Mediterranean Sea. The rooms are spacious and all have a private bathroom and private access from one of the terraces. La Madrugada offers 2 double (or single) rooms and one room which is suitable for 1-4 persons. We have a private swimming pool, various shady terraces and gardens and a private parking. We can give you information about hiking trails, cycling routes, the best places to visit on the coast and the cities of Granada, Córdoba, Malaga, Cadiz and Seville. But above all, La Madrugada offers you tranquillity and space, marvellous views and excellent rooms. La Madrugada is a perfect place for your holiday in the Axarquia/Andalusia.

La Madrugada, located outside of Cómpeta, is a good and quiet place to relax at the pool or to go either for a hike in the nearby mountains or to drive to one of the beautiful beaches. We stayed in the room Maroma and enjoyed the breakfast right at the terrace in front of the room.

Great place to stay in Competa!
Reviewed By Cathel BJust returned from the Walking Festival in Competa where I stayed at the Casa Rural Montepino. Fantastic location just outside the town and only a 10 minute walk away. Was fortunate enough to have the deluxe apartment on the top floor which had outstanding views down to the coast and up to the hills above the town.

Reviewed By GinaHischeWird mit Parkplatz angeboten, aber die Pension ist mit dem Auto nicht erreichbar. Der Parkplatz ist weit weg und der Weg dorthin sehr steil. So etwas sollte in der Beschreibung stehen. Nicht geeignet für Ältere oder Gehbehinderte.

ChiliTri is a fitness establishment and triathlon camp situated on the highest point in Competa and has breathtaking views of coast, Torre Del Mar and Torrox Costa. On a very clear day you can even see the mountains in Morocco, Northern Africa. ChiliTri is close to the town square with its various bars, restaurants and shops. It is an ideal base for swimming, cycling, running, hiking, horse riding and other outdoor pursuits. We specialise triathlon coaching and camps along side on-site fitness classes, personal training, massage and sports taping. We have two guest rooms, both can be large doubles or configured as two single beds. Both are have bathrooms, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and ceiling fan. The lower room has a kitchen with microwave and hob.
Great stay
Reviewed By Mobile425202Had a very enjoyable 5 day tri training stay at chilli tri. Karen and Sean made me feel very welcome as I was by myself, and put some preferred breakfast items in the fridge having checked what I wanted first. The room was basic but clean and all functional, and the villa has excellent views and is in a very quiet area. The coaching i received from Karen during the stay was very good, particularly the swimming. She also was flexible to accommodate some changes to my schedule during the stay. The cycling through the mountains had some lovely scenery and nice descents. My only word of warning would be that competa and the surrounding area is very hilly/steep so be prepared for that whenever going from the villa to walk, run or bike : which was good for me on a training camp! A lovely camp overall.
